  1. Big game for Rafaela today
  2. That pretty much sums up his career. Consistently inconsistent
  3. One of the most weird careers I can remember. He Played for literally half the league. He would be good one year, one of worst pitchers in league the next year, and then be bad or average. He’s put up a 4 WAR season and two seasons of -2.3 WAR or worse. He’s led MLB in losses. He’s thrown a 149 pitch no hitter with 8 walks. Just an incredible amount of randomness.
  4. Jim Edmonds as a Brewer, Sammy Sosa on Orioles, Miguel Tejada on Royals and Javy Lopez on Red Sox are more fun ones.
  5. My friends do a similar one with the teams played for. They’ll name a player and we have to name every team he plays Ed for. It gets tough for the guys like Curtis Granderson, Fernando Rodney, Edwin Jackson and etc, or even just the guys who play for a random team you forget (Ken Griffey Jr on White Sox, Manny on Rays, Adam Laroche for 3 days on Red Sox, etc)
  6. Great idea for a game by the way. Reminds me of what me and my friends do when drinking sometimes. Well just see who can name a more obscure player, guess players colleges or try guessing random sports trivia lol
  7. I was going to say Youk because the right arm looked pretty big. But the fact the body type doesn’t match up and it looks like the guy is playing SS. I was thinking Marco Scutaro or Stephen Drew with a lean towards Scutaro. Xander manned SS for so long and the skin complexion doesn’t match him and the picture looks aged enough to not be Story. All the other guys over the last decade and before/during Xander I remember playing SS were either older or not white (Deven Marrero, Yamaico Navarro, Marco Hernandez, etc)
  8. He definitely has things he can work on, but I’m sure a lot of teams would take him as a 5th starter. He probably has at least some trade value, or at the very least is a good depth piece to have with the injury histories of some of our starters
  9. We’ve had some really bad starting pitchers over the years so I think Crawford has value. You obviously don’t want him being your ace or anything but he is a very solid back of rotation guy who can eat innings, is durable and doesn’t kill your team or the bullpen.
  10. That’s on him then. Hes done nothing at all to improve his defensive abilities or show up in better shape. When the Sox signed Story, Xander was considered an average to below average defender. He wanted to keep the SS job so he came out in 2022 and had the best defensive season of his career.
  11. The thing with Devers is when he was signed, he was already a bad defender and a little pudgy. You’d like to hope he’d get in a little better shape but I think it was kind of known going into that deal he was getting signed for his bat and eventually would need to switch positions or just become a DH.
  12. The point is, with how good technology is, the umpires become pretty replaceable. Regarding check swings, I’m pretty sure they just guess most of the time anyway, especially since the check swing “rule” is so vague and kind of differs from game to game and umpire to umpire
  13. Yes but it would make the job so easy to the point where any random person could do it. We probably also wouldn’t need 4 umpires anymore. That is why they are against it.
  14. They really don’t want automated strike zones though and it could eventually lead to them losing their jobs.
  15. The umpires have a strong union and aren’t going to go down without a long/annoying fight. I think This is the first step of getting us towards that but they aren’t going to just get rid of umps completely yet. It’s going to take time to get people to be fully on board with this.
  16. As someone whose had to watch CB Bucknor, Angel Hernandez, Joe West and other *******s try to be the center of attention and make s***** calls consistently and not get held accountable, I like the system/idea. The challenge process is very quick and has to be done immediately by the better or catcher, so it doesn’t delay the game a whole lot.
  17. Pretty good game for Bregman today. Not a very good game for whoever the hell Zachary Fogell is!
  18. When Arod was traded to Yankees, I also don’t think they had the advanced defensive statistics and metrics we have now. Hell, Jeter was considered a good fielder during his prime and racked up many unwarranted gold gloves. It’s kind of hard to compare 2004 vs 2025.
  19. I think Devers comments are being blown out of proportion and aren’t a real issue. When Story was signed, someone asked Bogaerts if he would be moving to 2nd or 3rd and he gave a similar answer that Devers did. It was talked about for a few days and was never an issue. I think part of the reason the media is taking about this so much is the complete pause in other sports right now. NHL/NBA are on a break for all star break and 4 nations tournament and NFL season hasn’t even hit free agency yet. I turned on ESPN this morning and so little has happened in sports the past few days, they were still discussing Ja Morants tweets about the dunk contest from Saturday night.
  20. If Vladdy Jr actually wants to come to Boston, maybe they trade Casas next off season.
  21. Even if Bregman can’t match O’Neill’s offensive production fully, having Casas for a full season over Dominic Smith and friends should help the offense. Last season, there was over 500 ABs taken by Dominic Smith, Garrett Cooper, Pablo Reyes, Emmanuel Valdez, Bobby Dalbec and other rejects. With the current depth and MLB ready prospects, even with injuries that hopefully shouldn’t be a major issue this season.
  22. I agree. I think due to his talent and age he’s someone to definitely keep heading into the season. It doesn’t make much sense to trade him while he’s being paid the league minimum, coming off a basically lost season due to injuries.
  23. I’m fully against a Casas trade, especially right now when I believe they’d be selling low.
