  1. I really hate the start time as I work from 12-8 on Thursday’s, but im excited for baseball to be back regardless. Alright got tickets for the Baltimore game next Wednesday and it’s going to be 45 degree first pitch!
  2. I agree. I just don’t really see a spot for him or think his ceiling is all that high. I’m not necessarily advocating to trade him with his value being at an all time low, but for a pitcher or another position player whose similar age who could help somewhere else, I’d be down for trying a swap. Hell, Rockies just gave up on Nolan Jones already after he had a 4 WAR season in 2023 and was hurt last year.
  3. In regards to Jackie Robinson - if you don’t consider him not just a baseball legend, but an American hero, I don’t know what to even really say.
  4. He can occasionally be right, just like Colin Cowherd who I also despise. However, I feel like more times than not they’re saying something absolutely ridiculous for clicks and half the stuff they argue they don’t actually believe in or if they do believe in it, they shouldn’t be allowed to talk about sports for a living. Stephen A Smith has multiple times defended athletes who hit women and even said and implied women are to blame sometimes when it happens, specifically defending Ray Rice. Colin Cowherd said John Wall wouldn’t be a good role model or leader because he didn’t have a dad in his life. John Wall’s dad died from cancer when he was young and John Wall was one of the best players in the league and even better off the field. He has won multiple awards for his community service is heavily involved with young kids battling cancer after both his parents died from it. And when it comes to baseball, both have criticized non American players unfairly and have been fired/suspended for it, but still continue to get jobs and a platform. Maddie already mentioned SAS’s comments about Ohtani and non English speaking players but Cowherds comments about Dominican players was even worse.
  5. I don’t really care to comment too much on political stuff - but one thing I would like to point out is Stephen A Smith is an absolute moron. The fact he didn’t face more flack for what he said about Ohtani, especially with his history of stupid and offensive comments is ridiculous. I believe he got suspended for defending Ray Rice when he beat his girlfriend. Not more has he kept his job over the years, he just got a $100 million dollar contract.
  6. I’d love to take a shot on McKenzie. Dude has filthy stuff and while we’d be selling low on Grissom, we’d also be buying low on McKenzie. I’m also not convinced we’re even selling Grissom low. He very well could just suck
  7. That was a little before I remember starting to watch baseball. I forgot Bichette even played in Boston. His WAR numbers are fun to look at though!
  8. I just saw that former White Sox and Red Sox pitcher Bobby Jenks had his house burn down in the California wildfires and lost everything and on top of that he’s battling stage 4 stomach cancer and is attempting to do an autograph signing to raise money for his medical bills. Really depressing
  9. I really like Hamiltons game. He is fine defensively at 2nd and he causes havoc on offense. I don’t think this is like last season where we get absolutely horrendous production in the first half at 2B like we did from Grissom and Valdez.
  10. Marcelo and Campbell went back to back earlier, and later Roman Anthony hit an absolute BOMB. Homer for all of the big 3 tonight
  11. I figured that would be the outcome. It was always a media thing more than an actual clubhouse issue.
  12. Trayce Thompson is putting up Barry Bonds numbers this spring, just hit another bomb
  13. Yeah, Brock Holt would also be my guess. I think you guys nailed it
  14. Would anyone be interested in a fantasy baseball league for the website? I figured I would post here and move to appropriate forum later on so more people see this. I know this site used to have a yearly fantasy league and I’ve played in it multiple times but last year I believe A700 didn’t have interest in continuing to run it and it sort of fizzled out, so I’d like to gauge interest in it this year with the season around the corner. I believe it was a money league with a somewhat low buy in ($20 or so? Correct me if Im wrong for those who remember) but we could also just play for fun if that’s a deal breaker for some people. I typically like having at least some kind of prize to keep people engaged and active. Id be down to run it since I currently already commish two football leagues (1 yearly redraft, 1 dynasty), 1 dynasty basketball league and 1 dynasty baseball league. I typically use sleeper or Fantrax for dynasty league and ESPN for redrafts, but I’m not opposed to Yahoo or another website. If interested I guess just post here and also which website you prefer if any and if you’d want to play for money.
  15. Good point. I’ll probably make a more in depth post in the main forum this weekend to gauge interest and so more people see it.
  16. I have literally 0 expectations for Grissom. If he contributes, great. However, he’s done nothing at all to make me think he’ll make MLB roster, much less be a positive contributor.
  17. Does anyone have interest in doing fantasy baseball on here again? I’d definitely be down to play and could potentially run a league if there is enough interest and no one wants to actually be commish. Just figured I’d test the waters
  18. I know it’s spring training but the White Sox might actually be worse than last season. They look awful and looking at their projected roster doesn’t give me much hope for them either!
  19. I try traveling to multiple cities per year and attending games/concerts if I can. Me and my friends want to attend a game at every stadium at some point. Last year I attended 8 MLB games (Boston, Baltimore x3, Cleveland Cincy x3) 3 NBA Games (Wizards/Spurs, Wizards/Nuggets, Wizards/Nets) 3 NFL games (Steelers/Jets, Steelers/Commanders, Steelers/Ravens) 2 college basketball games (MD/Wisconsin, MD/USC) 10 concerts - Taylor Swift, Tate McRae, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams, Blink182, Jason Derulo, J Cole, Post Malone and MGK.(most of these are girlfriends picks and I don’t kind pop so I’ll go with her) MLB games are pretty cheap compared to concerts and NFL. I spent more on one Taylor Swift concert and one Steelers/Jets Sunday night game than I spent for all the MLB games combined and one of the MLB games was monster seats which were expensive lol. It might just be because the Wizards are absolute dog s*** but NBA tickets seem cheap too. I usually attend a few games just to see other stars in person like Jokic. Wemby, Giannis, etc.
  20. I didn’t even think and just clicked it at work!
  21. I feel like the Orioles have a LOT of former stars sign there at the end of their career or for a random 1 year pit stop that is forgettable or bad. You mentioned Evans and there is also Sosa, Vladdy, Reggie Jackson, Tim Raines, K-Rod, Jim Thome, Justin Turner, Derek Lee and even recently they had Kimbrel and even signed Felix Hernandez before he decided to sit out during covid.
  22. I’ve mainly been box score watching and haven’t really actually sat down and analyzed too much. Has Rafaela’s approach looked better this spring?
  23. I like Guerrero a lot and really hope and think he could be an elite reliever.
