Hamels has to be the right kind of deal. In my book he's no higher then a #2 until he proves otherwise in the AL. But ys he's be opening day SP

I think he is Dodger bound. They just got the Rollins trade out of the way first.

He's got Elbow history but I wanted the Sox to be in on him. If Cincy is talking SP trades with both Detroit and Marlins they must be not planning on going for it in 2015. If they are going total rebuild I'd call about Votto. edit: holy s*** nm I just saw Vottos extension kicked in this upcoming season. I thought a few years had come off it already.

Filling the rotations with 2's and 3's and adding some depth at the back end would also work heading into the season. The price for #1's might be too much right now. There could be some good rentals at the deadline. Sox will have a good amount of cash and still have some chips to deal. If they get Latos or Masterson before the season starts they will have a good rotation with the upside with flexibility to make changes if needed.

And a decent 2? I figure they got 4 starters in Buchholz, Kelly, Miley and Porcello now. Kelley I guess would get bumped but I personally would like to see him get a shot at the rotation. But I could see the value of his FB in the BP.

Those two are going to be way overpriced. Scherzer will get 175M and Shields may go as high as 120M. Sox are not getting those 2 IMO. Latos would give them a good rotation to start the season and they would still have plenty of money and chips to trade to get a SP later in the season.

I actually hope it is. If they are trading Cueto they are blowing it up. If it's Latos they probably still gonna go for it in 2015 and won't be trading any other SP. And Latos is the guy I'd like to see the Sox get..

Looking, haven't seen anything yet. I would guess it's no one big. Bradley wouldn't be surprising. Someone they need to get off the 40 man maybe.

The additions have at least stabilized the rotation imo. Still needs work but they could go with what they have and look to add at the deadline if they are contending. The group has upside, but also could turn into a grease fire. Just saw 2 more players are going to Detroit. I'm a bit worried but figured like some have said before it was gonna cost a little extra to make up for not being able to get a comp pick if Cespedes walks.

Add trade Dan Haren, Dee Gordon and traded for Howie Kendrick. Friedman with $ is gonna be scary.

I think Cincy is gonna want cost controlled players for Latos. They still have the chips to get it done imo

Porcello for Cespedes is all done via mlbtr. Good trade.

Shields isn't happening imo.. some team is gonna jump the shark with him and its not likely to be the Sox. Latos should be top priority out of the rumored available arms.

Or he gets limited time this year and gets a shot at taking over 1B for 2016-2017. Way too early to write Craig off.

Miley deal will be announced Saturday for some reason. Dodgers are sending Kemp to the Padres and I'm guessing they go and get Hamels and possibly Rollins once that is finalized.

I think he is the more realistic option.

He would be a 2015 filler and possible deadline chip. The fact they wouldn't have to pay him being next season is a plus for a team looking to cut down payroll.

Depends. If you can get a deal done without him with Cincy for Latos/Cueto, then spin Cespedes in another trade and get 2 SP, then you do that.

Sweet Jesus now it's being reported it was a 30M signing bonus for Lester. Is that the biggest signing bonus ever for an athlete?

I think Boras will get more out of Detroit then Lester got and again it made no sense to pay Scherzer more. Not directed at you a700, but where are all the Theo bashers with their "he sucks at free agency" signs? Lol

Scherzer is gonna get 175-200M. I hate admitting it but Boras usually finds his boob to get what he wants. And it makes no sense to pay 40M more than what they offered Lester for Scherzer.

I think all of us want the team to be competitive every year. It's not selfish, it's being a fan. Just when it doesn't happen we deal with it differently.
