  1. The seems like a huge haul for Donaldson.
  2. Nava for BP arm makes sense. The A's seem like a logical fit.
  3. His name is moving up the trade list lol I think the Sox should keep him around in case Castillo or Betts struggles. But if he's not happy with a reduced role get what you can for him.
  4. I wonder if Arod and his circus the next 3 years is going to effect any FA thoughts on signing with NY. I'm not trying to start any s***, I'm actually curious what the Yankee faithful feel about that. Is it a big deal?
  5. How dare you just show up out of the blue and be completely logical and reasonable. You FO ball washer you...
  6. Exactly. Those 2 and Swihart should not be used in any trades. I could stomach Betts getting moved for a Sale type and still I would worry about Betts blossoming and Sale's arm going to s***. But that's it. There isn't any SP out there I'd be happy to see Xander or Swihart gone for. For me personally they are untouchable and need to be given every chance to reach their ceilings with the Sox. Anyone else I could be convinced on for good SP.
  7. Lmao Betts or Xander are not getting dealt for 1 season of a SP... smh
  8. Yes it can. I'm not advocating a Napoli trade. I'm just agreeing with dojji given his contract status and valuable RH power, if the right deal came along he could be moved. It all depends what they can get for him and what they could get for some of the other pieces. If Napoli nets you the best SP option you do it. If it's about the same you keep him and move some of the others.
  9. But it would theoretically upgrade the rotation more than it would down grade 1B.
  10. I think they plan for Pablo to be at 3B for a couple seasons at least. Regardless I've read a few things mentioning Napoli as a possible trade candidate. If they get a good offer for him why not? They have the depth to make that move. The return just needs to be worth it.
  11. Heyman reporting the Yanks are only willing to offer Headley 3 years and his agents are "scouring" the market. So they are gonna skimp with Headley and do what exactly, play Arod at 3B?
  12. He is representing Scherzer fred. And Scherzer being the top 1a SP on the market you know he's gonna do his dog and pony show and drag it out unless someone gives him his moon and stars offer right away. Most of the other SP are gonna wait for him to set the market, which means probably an overpay to get anyone to sign right now. The FA market will also have an effect on trades because teams with SP to move are gonna want to wait for the FA well to dry up so they can get the most they can. When Boras holds a top piece that market is always slow. The offensive market broke quick this year. Funny, Boras doesn't represent any of the top hitters... hmmmmm lol
  13. Of course they are gonna say this. They don't want teams trying to use their depth against them in trade negotiations which teams are obviously going to try. It's all part of the chess game.
  14. Panda was the younger, better, more durable option at 3B. Yes it's a bit flashy, but he was needed for more than just his name. He can hit LH and plays a good 3B. I'm going to assume if need be he can learn to play 1B. If Napoli can manage it, I'm not that worried about Panda. Besides his contract is done before he reaches his mid 30's. How often do you get an under 30 all star for that? imo Hanley was never signed to play SS or 3B. I believe he reached out to the team(media reports state this part)and the team responded saying we are interested if you will move to the OF and that's it. I think the #1 3B target was always Pablo. Hanley seems to have fallen in their lap kind of. As far as philosophy goes, they haven't done anything different than usual really. They are conscious of long term deals and try and up the AAV and get shorter deals. Same thing they did with Vic. That and they spend money when the deal is right. Both players were signed for less than expectations. They didn't spend a ton last year because they were mindful of the LT being close to it(I believe that was their 2nd year under so it it meant a reset on the LT penalties) and passed on over priced long term deals that were getting handed out to players they had interest in last season. 5 guaranteed years or less for a higher AAV seems to be the MO since the trade of 2011. I really don't see why some think it's changed. They may bend it for Lester, but bending the guidelines a bit for a homegrown player occasionally isn't the end of the world. Cherries seems aggressive overall to me. There's not piddling around, if it's working fine, if it's not he has no problem hitting the reset button and changing s*** up. Me personally I like that style. I've always been of the thinking that if it's not working by July and you have short term pieces you don't need for 2 months get what you can. My overall opinion of the FO is generally neutral. I like some things and I don't like somethings. I like the general direction of the team going forward. It's not like they have run the team into the ground like the Phillies mind trust. And fred it's November for f sakes lol You're gonna have a fing stroke if you don't relax a bit. This isn't NFL free agency. It's slow going until usually after the Winter Meetings "every year" and even then Boras may drag out Scherzer until January, which may keep the SP market backed up and effect trade progress.
  15. Or he could have hurt himself diving for a ball at Fenway.. Just sayin
  16. I say, what is this madness?
  17. omg Fred c'mon.. you really can't think the team made these moves, created depth and assets and plans to do absolutely nothing to the P? In this worst case scenario, yes I would be right there pounding my head and shaking my fist at what the hell the FO is doing. That scenario is highly unlikely imo and you are overreacting per usual. Again the SP market is at a stand still with Boras and his circus and Lester visiting multiple teams because the team wasn't willing to offer an insane sign now deal. As soon as Lester and Boras sign the trade market for SP will open up and we will get a better idea what the team is gonna do. Patience man, it's November.
  18. lol smh...
  19. I like Nava as a bench player/short term injury replacement. And I think Holt's value is highest as a super sub.
  20. Contract details: Sandoval will receive a $3MM bonus, then earn $17MM annually over 2015-17 before taking home a $18MM salary in both 2018 and 2019. The club option is for $17MM and comes with a $5MM buyout. I like the deal more and more. It's not even an expensive option year. Jacko can try and dog it all he wants but he knows what's up.
  21. Lavarnway gets DFA'd, team officially announces Pablo signing
  22. Reports out of SF now say the Giants also had a 6 year option on the table. Kinda surprising that he left. Maybe he felt disrespected by the FO for all the weight publicity? Or he wanted out from under Buster Posey's shadow?
  23. You could see early on he wasn't going to age well, but he had a really good career and was a stud for a couple years of it. Thanks for the effort and memories Youuuuuk!
  24. There will be an adjustment period for sure.
  25. yes this is the idea I've heard.
