  1. My anger level will depend on what the Sox do to improve the sp. If they get a couple good SP losing Lester won't sting as much. If Buchholz is #1 going into the year I will be pissed and right there with some questioning what the f the FO is doing.
  2. I will laugh. Just like I did when they signed Ellsbury. If it's NY it will be for some ridiculous amount that kinda doesn't make sense. Yankees jump the shark every time, they would probably sign him for 7/175M with everyone else offering in the 6/130-140M.
  3. go into your profile setting and select an avatar I believe. I don't change mine often
  4. Lester bet on himself. He got an offer that reflected his inconsistency of being a true Ace in the seasons leading up to his walk year and passed. He hit the lotto and everyone has forgotten 2011-2012 and will likely double the original offer he got. Good for him. Doesn't mean it's a good baseball move imo.
  5. Exactly. If they fail to address the SP at all, everyone is free to bitch away.
  6. Nothing recent comes to mind. His market has blown up for sure if the rumors are all true. I think they may need to bow out and start trying to make other moves to rebuild the rotation. I love Lester and appreciate everything he's done in a Red Sox uniform but everything has a line. It's going past the "too risky for me" line now. It's at the point where it is unlikely he will be worth the deal he gets. All SP go down hill at some point and the back end of that deal no matter where he signs is gonna be a total crap shoot. Just look at NY fans and how happy they were getting CC back and look how bummed they are now. If the Sox had a more stable situation in the rotation I think a lot more around here would be backing off Lester with these kind of offers. But the rotation is bunch of ? and we are kinda desperate and may be talking ourselves into thinking signing Lester at all costs is a good idea. Just like the Yanks did when they brought back CC and most of us laughed to ourselves knowing how bad an idea it was. Maybe this is the time to be smart like St. Louis and let the star walk. It was never gonna be an end of the World situation if Lester signed elsewhere. They just need to go out and get creative with some trades and other FA signings, which I think has plenty of options.
  7. idk Detroit is looking for a COF. Porcello seems like a fair deal. It's not a ridiculous trade proposal.
  8. I think a big part of it is all the elbows that have been blowing out the last couple seasons.
  9. I don't mind that plan. I don't think Shark is worth a ton tho. I wouldn't send any top guys for him. He's a mid tier SP signed for a season. He has upside for next year, but he's still basically a 4 ERA guy. I don't care what Beane was willing to give in the heat of a pennant race. I'd give him 2 maybe 3 of WMB, Marreo, Bradley, Brentz, and Nava. It'll catch on somewhere if true soon enough.
  10. Ya I know. Sale is probably one of the only SP I could stomach losing Swihart for. It be like the Becket/Hanley situation again. Be glad the team got him but would hate watching the Prospect blossom somewhere else.
  11. This is gold haha
  12. People are acting like the market is moving and options are being snatched up while the Sox sit with thumbs planted.. Lester was rumored to be making his choice this week. Its wednesday. Relax people. SF aren't breaking the bank for him. He got his Cubs offer and still left town. If he is really waiting for the Yanks to get involved then he was never coming back. I say stick with the 130m offer. That high enough for a fringe ace SP. And yes he is a fringe ace. It wasn't ling ago the argument of what # SP he is was being bantered about around here. He has 1 really good season in a contract year and some want a blank check handed out.
  13. Hate to see Swihart go. If they could sub 1 or 2 others for him I'd like it more.
  14. Amen.. get on in the morning and its a page and a half of fred basically copy and pasting what he said the day before... and the day before that... and the day before that and so on and so forth. Fred just put the s*** in your sig. Hate FO Hate Henry's stingy ass Lester is gone forever Why hasn't cherries signed any P? The sky is falling Would save a lot of clutter in the threads my man..
  15. Puke... i wouldn't trade a bag of balls for any of those "veteran" SP the Mets are shopping.
  16. Seattle is still reportedly still looking for a RF. I don't see the match with the Sox without a 3rd team tho. Seattle really doesn't have ML SP to burn and i doubt the move Walker or Paxton for a 1 year rental.
  17. Owens I'm fine with for Hamels. I wouldn't want to trade any of the other 3 tho. The Sox could get Hamels for 10M a season and trading one of those 3 would still make me grimace. Philly isn't likely to pick up a ton of the contract, so to me they would have to pick from that tier that's half a step below in sk7326 rundown of the groups of prospects.
  18. That is what I have seen as well. Price isn't going anywhere if Scherzer isn't back in Detroit.
  19. idk maybe. I'm reading Cruz is gonna be DH. I doubt Seattle was looking at Cespedes for a DH. They are probably still interested but not a desperate after signing Cruz.
  20. That's an awful contract. With the money being thrown around on DH's Papi could probably get a 4/72M if he was a FA lol
  21. And the Rays send off another piece. I wonder if they would trade Longo and go total rebuild? I mean if any team doesn't have to worry about the fans attending the game it's the Rays(or Marlins). Their FO unlike many really can do as they please and not worry about pissing off the fan base.
  22. Word is Yankees are going after Miller, and before that the rumors floating around were that he was going to get the biggest non CL RP deal ever. Multiple 3 year deals, so a 4th year is likely. I like Miller but we all know how BP arms are. I'd be weary of his price tag. But I never saw the point in giving any RP big $ not named Mo anyways so.
  23. I'm not gonna clutter the thread by tagging the posts, but ex1 and sk7326 really nice stuff these last 2 pages. Good reads.
  24. You mean that is what you hope they have done.
  25. See the ex1 that's the difference right there. You are willing for the last place finish to build a better team going forward. a700 believes the team should give in ever. It's the age old tail around these parts. Younger generation is typically fine with the occasional "retooling" season and the older gents want every year they have left to be competitive.
