My Nats buddies don't see Werth as a win. And Weavers deal looks good because he took a home town discount against Boras's advisement. Anyways for every "good" Boras deal there are just as many albatross's or soon to be albatross's. Idk i just really im my very own opinion don't see Scherzer aging well amd see no point in giving him more then Lester.

In terms of contracts I like neither. They are both too long. Shields is already at an age where you really don't know what your going to get health wise from year to year. Lester is quickly approaching that area. This all stems from my dislike of big contracts to P already in their 30's. That's just how I see today's game. 10 years ago I would have been fine with signing 30+ SP. But to me times have changed.

He had the highest OPS cause the offense was s***. No way he should be hitting 3rd. If he's your best hitter your season is over anyways.

I think you are right but I just can't see them keeping the pick. Not until they do I guess.They just seem to always burn the pick every year they finish with a nice 1st rd slot. And when they do you usually say f*** get everyone haha

You and everyone else it would seem. I'm not seeing many positive opinions anywhere. He does look like an elite glove tho. He can hit 9th and won't be an issue if the rest of the lineup hits. This is just like the Iglesias situation for the Sox. Anything he hits is a + as long as the glove is elite. I'm kinda surprised they went for a youngster to replace Jeter. That could be a lot for a young player to handle. I figured they were going to go with some veteran for 2-3 years before trying to get the "real" Jeter replacement.

From what I read they had the 2nd highest offer at 4/40M. Markakis took 4M more from his hometown Braves it would seem. Looks like the O's tried. 4/44M seemed risky to me for Markakis. He's still a useful player, but he's not what he once was.

Normally I would say yes but with Ruin Tomorrow jr ridiculous asking prices I can't see him giving a discount. He might pay one of their salaries for a year but he's still gonna want a ton of prospects. Until he proves me wrong I don't think he ends up trading anyone until maybe the TDL. Lee is also a big risk imo. No one is gonna give anything good for him until they see him pitch next season. My first non Lester choice is trying to get something done with Detroit(If the rumors are true they are shopping SP). Cespedes for Porcell or Cespedes+ for Price would be what I think would get it done. The + for Price really depends on what Detroit wants. They aren't getting Betts, Bogaerts or Swihart and probably not Owens. But it could be one maybe 2 of Ranaudo/Workman/Webster/Johnson/Bradley/Kopech/Escobar. It's not a long term move but next season FA SP market looks a deeper then this year.
