  1. Damn was excited this game was on at a decent hour here... what's the word? Quick shower or is this going to be a problem all afternoon?
  2. Jay Gibbons looks like the Penguin when he walks(waddles) Over under on when the Gibbons/AA hot seat rumors turn up? I laughing pretty hard at all the people that predicted that team to be a juggernaut. Winning the off season mean f all. The 2012 Marlins and 2013 Jays had similar overall rosters. The writing was on the wall. I didn't think they be this bad, but I'm not overly surprised they aren't very good.
  3. I just read they are getting the field ready and plan to start on time with only slight chance of passing showers later/
  4. CC has that phrase tattooed on his lower-mid back
  5. We could throw in on one of those sumo suits right? That should get him past the eyeball test haha
  6. Sox should be in on Wilson when he is ready. His beard will fit nicely on the team
  7. That's what I'm saying. I believe it changes in the next 10-20 years and those players eventually get in.
  8. There are admitted PED users in the HOF right now
  9. I think that eventually changes once the younger generation takes over the majority of the votes. I could be wrong, but that's how I feel.
  10. They need to be 100% sure before he plays again. No need to risk it. "If" he hits the DL does that mean Iggy or Cecchini comes up?
  11. What has he done hitting wise since being sent down? He's on the 7 day DL
  12. He has a chance because of his overall popularity and what he accomplished in the playoffs to go along with his regular season numbers. He's arguably the best DH of all time. He's got a good shot.
  13. Well it took them till May to get swept, that's not bad either.
  14. It's not a black or white answer. There are many variables. Where do you currently play/live(taxes, cost of living). If I live in Texas and get an offer in NY or Toronto, that 20% increase in pay doesn't really amount to much. Now is it's something like the Sox offered 100M(just for math sake) and Seattle offered 150M? Then I could say the difference is large enough to take the risk of leaving for a new company/team. The company/team is also a consideration, am I leaving Nike to go work for Dexter? Or am I leaving Dexter and going to Nike? Am I actually happy where I am or am I looking for my first chance out? There is a bunch of stuff that is taken into consideration that only the athlete and agent are privy to. It's really a tough subject for us to judge from the outside.
  15. idk about that. Even with all the rule changes I don't find I feel like I'm less entertained or I'm missing something when watching the NFL. I like the QB rules as I want to see the top guys out there competing, not some Joe Blow career back up because the top QB got his head caved in or knees blown out.
  16. Ratings wise Football is far superior. The draft pulled in ratings pretty similar to some WS games in the last few years. Football is currently America's "game", while Baseball is America's "Pastime" imo.
  17. This is like the guy playing the violin on the Titanic. It will distract some from the real issue at hand which is the ship is sinking and your probably boned.
  18. I don't think Buchholz is loading the ball or cheating or whatever. I will say tho as a pitcher myself I lick my fingers after every pitch and wipe on my pants right after that and even though I have wiped there is a residual "stickiness" that I find helps me with my breaking pitches. I don't think it makes my pitches better, just the grip feels better. So I would imagine grabbing his wet hair or rubbing his arm probably does have some effect on his grip. But I don't see it as any different then say Yu Darvish or Dice K or just about everyone else rubbing their forearms and then rubbing down the ball, which they do all the time.
  19. If he will take a similar deal to Victorino's or Bourn then I'd be ok with them bringing him back. If it's BJ Upton money + then no thanks.
  20. I remember it being reported that was the reason for Thole being part of the deal. Now him being in AAA makes it seem odd.
  21. lol love the title
  22. Thole had experience catching Dickey.
  23. Nava is ok in RF for now, ultimately I think he's better suited for LF at Fenway.
  24. They got it for very little? How about the gave up a ton of money and prospects to bring in JJ, Mark B, Dickey, and Reyes and have gotten nothing so far for it and Gibbons is already on the hot seat. Lester- 19-9 220 IP 3.30 ERA Buchholz- 18-10 200 IP 3.60 ERA Those are my predictions for Lester and Buchholz this season from the predictions thread. Idk if that's "elite" level or not. Needless to say both have exceeded expectations so far.
