  1. Baseball is a funny game sometimes
  2. Says the guy with surgically attached horse blinders...
  3. But he was wrong for thinking it was a lost season in the first place.
  4. I think Farrell and company have been very straight forward about the situation. Drew was brought into be the starter. And he's going to start, whether it's the whole season or until someone offers enough compensation for him to be moved. The move was made when Iggy was a big ? and it was the right move. If they had done nothing and went straight to Iggy(which some of us suggested anyways) people would have gone nuts and Cherries buffoonery would have won over again. We also have to take into consideration that Iggy's hot streak was not going to last. His BABIP was going to come back to Earth, he's not Cuban Jesus. Sending him down before the crash should only increase his confidence for when he comes back up. And he will. Iggy is in AAA knowing he can produce at the ML level instead of stewing in AAA with all the what if's.
  5. If Drew shows he's healthy and hitting I think he gets traded not long after June 1 when he is eligible for trade w/o his consent. I'm guessing St. Louis and it could be for an arm(no idea who though). I think the offense has shown enough potency and with Ortiz coming back(also has to show he's healthy and hitting) that Drews bat won't be missed. Iggy's defense could be even more helpful especially with the shaky end of the rotation.
  6. Sucks he blew it, but he's known for giving up a few throughout the season. All my friends said the same exact thing about him, good closer, gets its done on most nights but will give you anxiety attacks because he will put guys on base and give up the occasional HR. So I'm going to hold off on panicking over him for now.
  7. I can't believe you used that to try and make your argument A whole half run, what the hell was I thinking?
  8. So he wasn't successful in 2011 as the teams swing man? News to me. 4 spot starts and 114 IP at a 2.61 ERA seems more then just a reliever :dunno:
  9. It comes down to Iggy had minor league options. They aren't going to carry Iggy, Drew and Ciriaco on the roster at once. They aren't going to cut bait with Drew, and I believe Ciracio would have to pass through waivers to go to the minors and imo some team would claim him. We obviously don't want that as he is a very useful player. Take all this into account and Iggy was the obvious choice to be sent down. It's as simple as that. When Ortiz comes back JBJ will be going down(unless he catches fire between now and then and in that circumstance Carp probably gets DFA'd). I think once Ortiz comes back Gomes and Nava will take over in LF.
  10. I figured they would DL him(was it retroactive?) and he miss 2-3 starts on the short end. This is why they have put up with Aceves issues, this is the role he has excelled in. I think the team would be alright with him as the #5 for a month. If it's longer then alternatives should be explored.
  11. And then follows it up by saying "or very lucky". What is your point? If he felt Cherries really was not dumb he would acknowledge that Cherries took the info that he was privy to(medical records, scouting reports) and from that chose wisely in the players he signed and was also wise in the players he did not sign. It's very simple. Cherries hasn't given anything much for Fred to gripe about, but Fred being the blind Cherry hater he is can not acknowledge Cherries as anything more then a monkey in a suit and ultimately has to blame luck as the reason things are working out so far. Which was why I was calling him out because it's ridiculous.
  12. lol ya Born I get what your saying. It's why I never totally count them out until the math says so. I swear there is some spiritual possession going on in Yankee land sometimes haha
  13. He at least gives us all some common ground, pretty sure everyone wants him gone
  14. So something goes wrong he's a dumbass and if it works out he's lucky? Jesus fred, do you even attempt to mask you loathing hard on for Cherrington anymore or what?
  15. Definitely
  16. Ya that's how I feel too. He should be able to hold it down for a month if needed.
  17. Does anyone else find is amusing that the apparent leader of the "Kalish fanclub clubhouse" and Nava's biggest fan are going back and forth? "My 4th OF is better!" "No mine is! Yours sucks cock in Hell!"
  18. Toronto getting hammered again lol
  19. A few FA names to kick around, Roy Oswalt Carlos Zambrano Dallas Braden
  20. I can't find a GB/FB ration, if he's another NL fly ball P no thanks.
  21. It's not "what" they are arguing about, it's more "who" is doing the arguing. They have been around awhile and it's just how they do
  22. Nava started off hot last year and nose dived quickly. I'm really happy the kid is playing well and I tip my cap to him for the effort he has put in to make himself as versatile as possible. I'd just like to see if he can keep it up or if he tails off again like last season before I dub him the "next big thing". I think he will be platooning in LF with Gomes and may play 1B once a week to give Napoli some rest.
  23. It's kinda like the older brother picking on the younger brother harsh, not like your the scum of the earth harsh
  24. dojji, UN may be a bit harsh, but there is no denying you have an over sized man crush on Nava, "long suffering"? JC you act like he walked Yawkey way for 40 years before finding the promise land...
  25. It's important, anyone who says otherwise is a fool. Speaking of the team chemistry, this team seems to have a lot of a high energy and guys look like they are having fun. Overall it just makes it so much more enjoyable to watch instead of a team that's just going about their business.
