  1. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20081120&content_id=3687310&vkey=hotstove2008&fext=.jsp Why do the bother announcing things like this? Everyone knows they don't ever keep to it. I'm mean look at Arod last year. But on the off chance they actually stick to their guns, this is great news for CC. If he really doesn't want to pitch in NY, he has an out now.
  2. I think that will keep him out of Boston.
  3. Ugggh, I cringe reading this. This better not be a pride thing. Dojji has creadence where he thinks Matsuzaka might have had shoulder issues last season.
  4. Really? Well I will admit he's only valuable to a AL team. And I don't see too many teams in need of a DH. So you have a point.
  5. I know they don't have proof. Nothing else is going on, so I thought it might make a good topic.
  6. http://www.boston.com/sports/ot/2008/11/the_truth_hurts.html Don't lose your minds over this. Just something to discuss.
  7. It's not totally out of the realm of possibilites that they can sign them all. They don't have to extend anyone for a couple years. But if say the get Pedroia and Papelbon this season. Maybe Lester and Youk next season. Then the following year Papi comes off the books(replaced by Lars, who will be cheap for awhile). So does Beckett. And the following season Drew comes off the books. Out of all of them tho, I don't see them letting Pedroia or Lester walk, Papelbon either. Youk on the other hand is almost 30, so in a couple years, they might very well let him hit FA. I'm sure the FO has a plan going forward to keep the players they want around.
  8. Yup the Canucks have the inside track on this one, he had too. Toronto is so boned when he leaves. There's even rumors starting to come out the might shop Halladay.
  9. Ya I know what they where about. But it just seemed odd for it to come out is what I ment.

  11. I know it's being "tin foil on my head" guy(didn't there used to be a little smilies icon for that?). But this just drips of the Sox being in, only to drive up the price. I mean it so public. Every site has a story on it. This is just not how the Sox FO approaches players they really want. I mean there is even a story about how much John Henry likes Burnett. This the same John Henry that never get's involved with the players personnel side of things. I believe the Sox are trying to get the Yankees to over spend on Burnett. Hoping his contract will turn into an albatross. And all the while are trying to sign Teixeira:thumbsup:
  12. Does this really deserve it's own thread? It looks like a depth move. He will probably get a shot in ST at the "Kotsay role".
  13. Fair enough Crunch, I will admit it's possible. Lowell to Cleveland for Guitz is insanely out fo the question. Listen obviously if they trade Lowell it will be a sell low compared to say his value last season. But If they sign Tex. The Sox won't have use for them. And Guitz could be a very good 4th OF option to replace Crisp. And since the Sox would most likely only get Guitz back, Cleveland might pick up more of his remaining contract of Lowell's. Although is Lowell is moved, I won't be shocked if the Sox eat alot of the contract.
  14. Mis read it. it basically says they won't go past 4 years on any deal.
  15. I read it somewhere. Let me see if I can find.
  16. Good grief, no thanks if this is true, Maybe 4 years 13.5M. But not Zambrano money.
  17. Never liked him. Respected his on the field performance.
  18. Your all forgetting the Sox only offered 4 years at a higher AAV. The Yankees have offered 5 years at less AAV. He's going to want a 5 year deal. The Sox won't go there. But AJ will be able to threaten the Yanks, and they will up the AAV too match the Sox, but be offering 5 years instead of 4. But really it's all rumor so take with a grain of salt.
  19. I thought this as well.
  20. Masterson's value in the BP is hard to duplicate threw FA. A FA #4 SP that could produce what Masterson could in that role is easier to find, and more available.
  21. No some think Tex will not come to Boston because there is not spot for him now.
