You fail to realize that Lowell will not hinder the FO, if Teixeira is someone they want. If the Sox want Teixeira, the only thing to stop them is the Yankees. Moving Lowell is an after thought.
I love Burnett's stuff. I am not sold on his drive. I was for signing him earlier this offseason. But the more I thought about it, I came to a different conclusion.
Oh don't get me wrong. I have been stating Masterson's "value" as a SP for weeks now. I just think it's for another team. Masterson's value is greater for the Sox in the BP. He is a very important bridge to Papelbon. And not saying doesn't have SP value for Boston, but SP is probably easier for them to aquire say via FA. There some decent options available on the FA market. There isn't s*** for 8th innig guys.
Not that unreasonable.
Only if Tex is signed tho. I don't see any other scenario that Lowell would be moved in. From what I hear Lars insn't ready, so there would be no one to replace Youk(assuming he would move to 3B to replace Lowell). Unless they had another 3B lined up.
The only other 1B I can think of being available are Konerko and Fielder. And i'd be very surprised at either of those.
Unless Masterson really comes to grip with a 3rd pitch, he's going to be better utilized out of the BP. The Sox need to add a SP. Maybe it's not Burnett, but I would bet they add someone.
I can't imagine what the fallout would be if CC decided on LAD. Even if he doesn't that Yanks will have to pony up even more money to get him. Maybe leaving less for other's they are in pursuit of?
Likely locations:(IMO)(no particular order)
LAD
LAA
NYY
MIL- (Long shot)
I can't see any other teams getting in this race.
I was just pointing out options. You can have Baldelli and if he goes down the Sox could bring someone up.
You seem to think I want these old fuggers playing everyday. I don't. 1-3 games a week isn't bad for the older group.
Yes Griffey will be expensive, and Anderson is likely to sign back with LAA.
Rivera is probably the best option tho.
I know Nixon isn't coming back. I was more or less highlighting players who can play Multiple OF positions.

All decent options. And that's just FA. They could always make some sort of trade for one.
Ellsbury wasn't a huge disappointment. He just had huge expectations coming off an insane post season run. Of course the league would catch up to him. Same thing happened to Pedroia and just about eveyone else in the league. It's all about adjustments.
This was only his first year in the league, cut him some slack.
Those of you who continue to bash Ellsbury for a sub par season, are probably the same who wanted Pedroias head in his 1st season while he was struggling. The ones calling for a trade of Belliard, or more playing time for Alex f***ing Cora. Now you look like fools, Pedroia is a MVP.
Some of you have no patience. And should learn not to jump to conclusions so fast. If he doesn't pan out, I will be the first to admit it. But I won't do it after 1 season.
As far as 4th OF go, there are plenty of decent options out there. Maybe not as fast as Crisp. But they offer something else in there repetoire.
Baldelli is a great option. Can play all 3 spots and has no pre dispostion about playing everyday. He knows he can't. Essentially he might be the perfect 4th OF.
I wasn't saying Salty alone. They could be more intersted in Teagarden
Getting a top C prospect for a SP( I know Bowden is high up there) and a RP is not really that bad.
That's good enoguh for me. Seems like a good deal. I'm ok if they stand pat with it.
But I wouldn't mind seeing him flipped for a C from Texas.
Bowden/Hadagone+ Ramirez is a nice haul for a prospect.
