  1. Yes because it was all kisses and rainbow's to begin with. Pettitte is a drama queen. He pulled this crap right before he went to Houston. He was mad because the Yankees didn't show enough attention to him that off season. So he pouted and bolted for Houston. And then came riding back into town on his white horse saying he wanted to end his career as a Yankee, blah blah blah. All along being thrown right into the middle of the Mitchell report, coming up with a fairly lame excuse about using. But most gave him a pass for fessing up.Then the guy say Retirement or the Yankees are the only two options, turns around and has the nuts to say he consider LA. This guy has an ego like Clemen's. And it's starting to show. Pettitte is a cock smoker. Hell if a pitcher, but a complete dink:thumbdown... Now it's showing more.
  2. Both have 4ish ERA's in the AL last season. Both are hittable. That said. They are both quality arms that when on can be "unhittable". But how many times is a pitcher dialed in like that over the course of the regular season?
  3. So you graduated from Cum Loud? I mean Cum Laude?
  4. Wagner is considered to be a decent prospect with some upside. But he to like Esposito is far off.
  5. Sabathia=Mussina production if not less, Wang coming off injury Burnett, fine I'll mention the obvious. He's soft Pettitte is not signed Joba had tendinitus and shoulder issue after a few months of SP There is upside to the Yanks no doubt, but there are alot questions marks as well. And yes of course theres alot of time left to add players. I reply was based on the team as constructed now.
  6. I hope you don't find this rude Rob. But I think it's safe to say you don't have to leave your name at the bottom of your post. But hey if you want to its all good.
  7. It's not denial. The aqusitions and departures show me that the Yanks are weaker offensively witht he subtraction of Abreu. They added Cameron, but his bat is nothing to write home about. Matsui is going to protect Arod? The Yanks have replaced Mussina's 08 poroduction. And have added a career .537 winning % pitcher. Throw in the health concerns for Damon, Matsui, Posada, and the possible trade of cano. This offense could be very mediocre. The only denial is coming from Yanks fans who think the are far and away better then last seasons team.
  8. I'm not questioning whether or not he is a stud and has eletric stuff. His problem is he is so amped up and trys to strike out so many that he will most likely wear himself out earlier in the deeper AL. Thus some of us saying he could have the potential to be just a 6 inning guy. I like Peavy alot, but I believe that it's reasonable to question a pitcher coming from the NL West. Just like it's reasonable to think that a player coming from the Rockies might not put up the same offensive numbers. Can he be a stud in the AL East? Of course, he has plenty of stuff and the competitive drive. He will need to learn how to "pitch" a little more thow.
  9. Sorry, I must have missed it when I was scimming threw the posts.
  10. If I was a Yankees fan, and saw how much of Gom's plan had come to fruition, I wouldn't see it as a positive thing, but that's just me:dunno:
  11. I actually like the Hat. I don't understand why some are freaking out about it tho. I mean it's the road alternate. It won't be warn in Fenway. And it will only be warn a few times a year. Live in the now everyone. If you don't want to see Fenway replaced, and you want the team to stay finacially competitive, you will have to concede small things such as the hat logo and changing of road jerseys. To keep these things, the Sox must find alternative revenue. And changing a Logo or changing uniforms will help produce some alternative revenue.
  12. See got your blood pressure up for nothing.
  13. Why does it have to be an answer to the Yanks? Don't forget the Yanks and Sox aren't even, the Yanks are playing catch up. The Sox have the luxury of not having to counter punch everything the Yanks do. Everyone is freaking out about CC and Burnett. CC will be lucky to duplicate Mussina's numbers last season. And Burnett is a career notch above .500 with reliability issues. Haven't the Sox moves in recent years been better then the Yanks. You don't have to counter everything. Look what happened when the Sox signed Dice-K. The Yanks where outbid and the fans where mad. They had to do something in return. So the completely overbid for Igawa. And looked how that turned out. A700, your gonna end up with arthritis in those easily reactive knees of yours.
  14. Knee Jerk....
  15. He could go for less. Depends if SD wants Boston to absorb the whole contract. I was just throwing names out there.
  16. No there not the favorites. They replaced Mussina's production with CC, and added a career 87-76 pitcher. They so far have replaced Abreu's bat with Mike Cameron. Giambi's with Nick Swisher's. And have no idea if there big $ Catcher can actually Catch a whole season. The Yanks have plugged some holes in the deck of the ship, but there still plenty more. And when Captain Hank is at the wheel, the chances of hitting a rock increase. Take a breath everoyne....
  17. Sounds like he's worth a flier. If he can do anything at all in the AL East. He will be good trade bait to an NL team.
  18. He has to be open to other teams besides the Cubs if he wants out of SD to play for a winner. I think he is a #3 at best in the AL. I think he's a comparable to what AJ Burnett gave last year. 4ish ERA, and he seems to be pretty durable so far. The question remains, what will the Sox have to give to make him in compensation to waive his no trade clause, and what will it cost in prospects. Obviously it will cost atleast 1 of Buchholz,Bowden,Masterson. I think a top OF prospect would be part of a deal. Reddick,Kalish,Westmoreland. Then maybe a player who is far off but with big upside like Almanzar. Bowden/Reddick/Almanzar/MDC, sound good to any of you? I'm not saying I'd like them to do it, but that looks to be decent offer. Better then the junk they have been getting offered from everyone else.
  19. Brown and Kottraras both could produce atleast as much as Tek did at the plate last season. The best Catching prospects are Esposito and Wagner. But both are a few years away and no sure things. The FA market is horrible for Catchers. They have been said to have talked to Josh Bards representation. There a multiple propect Catchers of note that could be had at the right price. All of them will cost atleast 1 SP prospect. Then theres Tek. If he will settle on 2 years with less of an AVV, he will probably be back in Boston. The KNuckleball is hard to catch because it is very unpredictable. It has lots of late movement when thrown correctly. Unless you have ever seen one, it is hard to explain the way it looks while trying to catch it. Welcome to Talksox:thumbsup:
  20. Wow, 5 years 82.5M...... I was for the Sox going after Burnett at a reasonable cost. But that is ridiculous amount of cheese for a Barely .500 pitcher. Who only seems to start all season in contract years. Time will tell on this one.
  21. Manny meet Karma, Karma meet Manny. I honestly think Boras had alot to do with Manny's mental state of late. He was fine and dandy, then he signed with Boras. Boras filled his head with big$ talk. Told him the only way to get it, was to hit the open market. Manny did his part to make sure he hit the open market, and now it has backfired. Even as recent as last off season this plan might have worked. Boras just didn't see the economy messing with his grand scheme. I love the fact he works out, watches cartoons and plays video games. Sounds like a fun guy to chill with. Also shows that Manny is a tade immature for his age.
