  1. Ya you need someone in the know. Or just over pay for the tickets. I've seen it asked before, but never got a straight answer. Is there a place sign up for the season ticket waiting list? I ask only because I had a buddy get on a list in DC for Redskins tickets. He put his name on the list knowing full well it would be a few years before he would be up on the list. But a couple years later he got his tickets. I was thinking of doing the same, but wasn't sure if it worked like that.

  3. I take a couple bong hits before I read them, it brings it all together nicely:thumbsup:
  4. Neil Diamond BURN!
  5. BUUURN! Sorry there was a "That 70's Show" Marathon on last night:thumbsup:
  6. click....click....ssssssssssss..... The fuse has been lit. Only time will tell how long it takes to blow up:lol: Guys I know this is a completely troll post. I'm only whinding you guys up. Don't take it too seriously:lol: Like it was said before it was great watching the Yanks look feeble and human this season. Now that it is over with, Having them contend next year will make for better baseball. And that's what it's really about.
  7. Ya I agree. He's produced nicely from the Catchers spot, in a extremely feeble lineup.
  8. He's not available FA wise. the Pirates haven't extended him long term yet either. He could be in the name of hats Theo is looking threw for a catcher to trade for.
  9. Ya I agree with you. But I think if Theo thought he was getting a deal, he would consider it. Alot of non baesball issues might play this thing out. Lets do a couple " what ifs"(normally I try to stick clear of such things, but given the current lack of news, I'll make a change). SD to give a "deal" or "discount" would have to be desperate. Stemming from the economy, SD's owner's divorce, somthing of this nature. Knowing this, in times of crisis(I use crisis, knowing full well this isn't a life or death dilehma) Most people go with what they know. And Theo and Towers know each other well. There wouldn't need to be the normal 2 step GM's normally play with each other when discussing a possible trade. No, they could get right down to buisness. Towers should roughly know what he can get from Theo. I don't think he will ask for the Moon. And considering what he has been getting offered, if he is selective and not too greedy, he could come away with a nice deal for his ball club. I also think Farrell would have to help him change his game a bit. Use his off speed stuff better. Beckett did it in 2007, last year he got a little FB happy at times. After the Post Season he had just come off who could blame him LOL But it showed you have be able to change it up. Power pitching is alot more useful in 40-50 degree weather, when your hands shatter when the bat hits the ball. Then it is when it's 90 and sunny. I honestly think Bowden could be the center piece of a deal. Nothing close to him has been offered otherwise. I'm sure he will start a Buchholz, but remember, this is all beginning with Theo thinking he is getting a deal. And if Buchholz is asked for I don't believe Theo will consider it a deal(unless its just Buchholz+1, but that's another post). Bowden+2 would seem to me as Towers believeing he is getting enough back, while Theo believe's it to be a "deal" so to speak, or discount. What does everyone else think would be a good offer? I still believe Bowden/Alamanzar+OF prospects is a solid start, while not comprimising the future of the team as well. Beckett Dicke-K Lester Wake(I only put Wake here to break up the hard throwing styles of Peavy and Lester) Peavy That's a solid rotation with 4/5 under 30 years of age. This also leaves Buchholz to be groomed more in AAA. $ aside, because no pitcher is worth the kind of money some get payed. Peavy is alot better option as the teams #4 or #5 SP. If he give 6IP with 4-4.75 ERA, I'll take that and run with it.
  10. Agreed. Anyone who didn't see the Sox looking in Tex this offseason, is Ray charles blind. Now if the Sox saw CC sign and then overbid for Burnett, that would be knee jerk. Along with giving into Lowe's demands. Tex is a sound signing for the present and future. That dumass reporter is trying to make it more then it is. Is it possible for for these writers to troll?LOL
  11. Well I threw it out there because SD is in need of a SS. And the Sox would have to move some salary to accomodate a Peavy trade. So and 1+1 thing.
  12. I think he be ok for a 4th OF, especially if the utility IF has some OF experience like Harriston or someone.
  13. There's plenty of bech guys out in the FA market. Second basemen Willie Bloomquist (31) Chris Burke (29) Craig Counsell (38) Ray Durham (37) Damion Easley (39) David Eckstein (34) Mark Grudzielanek (39) - Type B, offered arb Jerry Hairston Jr. (33) Orlando Hudson (31) - Type A, offered arb Tadahito Iguchi (34) Jeff Kent (41) - Type B, not offered arb Ramon Martinez (36) Aaron Miles (32) Pablo Ozuna (34) Luis Rivas (29) Shortstops ) Orlando Cabrera (34) - Type A, offered arb Alex Cintron (30) Alex Cora (33) Craig Counsell (38) David Eckstein (34) Nomar Garciaparra (35) Chris Gomez (38) Jerry Hairston Jr. (33) Aaron Miles (32) Tomohiro Nioka (33) Luis Rivas (29) Juan Uribe (30) - Type B, not offered arb Omar Vizquel (42) Third basemen Rich Aurilia (37) Willie Bloomquist (31) Aaron Boone (36) Craig Counsell (38) Joe Crede (31) Nomar Garciaparra (35) Ramon Martinez (36) Pablo Ozuna (34) Juan Uribe (30) - Type B, not offered arb Ty Wigginton (31 There some viable options for the bench. I know that be a haul for SD. But whats great is it's a good deal for them, and for the Sox. SD gets the value they want, while the red Sox move a couple valuable farm pieces, it doesn't hurt them too bad at the ML level. I mean those names aren't set in stone, but it's a good starting area to go from.
  14. Tex is obviously the priority. But if they sign Tex and they can move say Lugo's contract or something to make some finacial room, then I don't see Peavy as being a bad #4 or #5 SP for this rotation. Especially if Theo and Towers come up with a reasonable deal for prospects. SD is getting nothing for value at this point, and that's after trying to involve 4 teams. If SD is desperate to move Peavy's contract it could work out well for the Sox. Start with Bowden Bowden/Lugo($)/Almanzar/Reddick That's by far the best anyone has offered yet. Maybe throw in another low level SP or something.
  15. They added to the deal before NY went to 161M 5/100 was 1st offer, they went to 6/120
  16. The only other known offer was the Brewers, which was 20M less then the Yanks original offer. The Yankees has to outbid the Brewers by 40M to make CC come to NY. That fact alone would make me weary as a Yank fan. You say absolute must, I say desperation. Desperation caused by multiple offseasons of over paying over the hill offensive veterans. Now they pay 240M for 2 4ish ERA SP's and the Yanks fans believe everything to be ok. And now the rumors are out there about a 66M deal for Manny. I hope everyone realizes your not getting the LA Manny. LA Manny wanted to earn that 3 year deal. Theres no telling what Manny you will get if you give him the $ guranteed. Everyone is seeing the Yankees making those big moves, I see them as doing the same ol same ol, and look where its got them. Having to over pay even more then before.
  17. Why is 30 old? I'm 26, I'm not that far off... Just kidding, I know what you meant.
  18. Halladay I think has to be considered as well.
  19. There's also rumors of SD's owner looking to sell.Which means payroll will most likely be lowered to make the team more appealing. This might force a Peavy trade. I guess only time will tell.
  20. Does anyone think the Braves get back into the Peavy talks? Or will the fact SD is demanding Their #1 SP prospect.
  21. CC is a regular season Ace. Beckett, while not putting up better numbers then CC during the regular season, is an post season Ace. Burnett is not either. If your Ace is a 4ish ERA, .537% winning percentage, and only has eclipsed 200IP twice? Your in a world of trouble. Burnett has great stuff when he can put it all together. But since he doesn't, he's more of a #3 that get's paid #1 or #2 money. But him being a #3 on the Yanks isn't bad. He has CC and Wang infront of him. Having those 2 infront of him will help with the pressure. He just needs to stay healthy and pitch consistantly, which has been a problem over his career.
  22. Can you imagine if somewhere in the near future, because of some kind of circumstances, baseball put's in a salary cap? If the Yankees go absolutely nuts with $ because they can with the new stadium. It might have some repurcutions. I know I heard some rumblings on the radio, read some articles about the reaction to these contracts the players are getting in these economic times. If it picks up enough steam. It could lead to MLB having to rethink its rules on Salary. For a sport the preaches parity, the Yankees, Mets, Sox and a few choice others have an incredible advantage over teams such as KC,Pittsburg. I mean can you imagine rooting for a team that has absolutely no shot at winning year in and year out? Listen I love the Sox, and I love the fact the can spend big to bring in players. But I also like the fact the show some restrant, still like finding a deal, show some strategy other then just outbidding everyone. Would I mind a salary cap for the league? Nope not at all. In fact I think it would improve the game alot. I think the league would be better if every team was a contender. I mean look at the NFL, that's a league that aims to have everyone finish 8-8. What seperates the +.500 teams from the others is done through scouting, coaching, drafting, smart FA choices. And the league is thriving more then ever. Force Baseball to do the same, and I think it could very interesting and extremely entertaingin to watch.
