  1. Dojji, the voice of reason LOL
  2. guys we have no idea what Youkillis wants. He is probably basing his contract demands off last season alone. And last season was a career year for him. And the Sox aren't going to give him that after just 1 season. And i'm sure the Sox want a discount like Pedroia gave. If they can ink Lester long term I'd be happy. Youk would be nice, but 1B isn't as big as a stud SP.
  3. You have a complex stemming from the Yanks dominating the Sox for the better part of your personal Sox fanhood life span. You are delusional to think the Sox have the spending capablity of the Yankees.
  4. Is it possible that the Sox resources aren't what everyone thinks? Myabe there projected ticket sales aren't good. Or whatever. I understand where your coming from, I wanted to see the team make a splash, and I'm not happy they got outbid by the Yanks. But there's nothing I can do about it. if I bitch about the FO, it won't get them fired or change anything. And the fact is, if the Sox make money and are relatively competitive, this FO will be around for awhile. Don't expect the Sox to spend alot of money, then when they don't there is less disappointment LOL
  5. They shaved 50M in a year where the economy is in the crapper. If anything the FO ownership group have shown to be saavy buisness men. There not going to Bankrupt the team just to spite the Yanks. Everyone is looking at this from just a baseball point of view. Other things need to be taken into consideration besides just the baseball aspect of it.
  6. Less salary yes, but he will have a starting gig. I'd say the mets have a good shot, I guess it depends if Dunn signs first. I think Dunn ends up in CHC or LA.
  7. And this is your biggest problem. The Yankees are in another stratosphere when it comes to spending capability. And until you realize this, well you know what they say about that river in Egypt.
  8. Why do I need to defend the FO? They made an offer, the Yanks topped it. The Sox have a spending plane, the Yankees walk into negotiations with blank checks. The Sox FO has brought 2 WS titles, and been in the PO every season but 1. The Yankees FO has spent roughly 2 Billion in payroll since 2001, and have nothing to show for it. I'm sure you where bummed when Damon signed with the Yanks. But the FO was correct about what Damon would be in the later stages of the deal. I'm sure you where mad when the Yanks outbid the Sox for Pavano and Contreras. But again is worked out for the best. I would have loved to have Tex on the team A700, but the sun came up this morning, and the Yankees are still 0-0. Will it be a cake walk next season? No, but where is the entertainment in that.

    Salary Cap

And it could very well happen.
  10. And you continue to cry and show you Yankees inferiority complex.
  11. The reason it's the highest ticket prices, is because it's the smallest park with one of the higher priced payroll clubs. I'm not crying poverty at all. But I have an understanding there is a limit to what the team can do. And with the economy the way it is, that limit is stressed more then usual.
  12. Ya well unless the Sox build a new Fenway, they will never be able to spend like the Yankees. I can't say I blame them for being cautious in the economic time we are in. This ownership group is not going to go bankrupt just to win a WS. Hal and Hank might spend the Yanks right into the ground. Time will show how this plays out.
  13. Doesn't matter really how much the Sox where outbid by. Teixeira preffered the Yankees. The Sox would have to take in the stink eye for him to have come to Boston. And the FO decided against anal rape.

    Salary Cap

Philly is also capable of spending money. They can't go nuts, but they can spend more them some teams. I didn't see TB give Ibanez a 3 year deal at 10M per yer.

    Salary Cap

Yes there is the occasional Marlin, Rays teams, but we both know most small market have a very limited chance. And we all know the KC's, Pittsburg's of the world have no shot.

    Salary Cap

Yes but with a Salary cap, they would have a bult in excuse for why not to spend the money. I am not for the owners getting richer, but I do think something needs to be done to equal the playing field as it where. It can't be good for baseball in general to have teams show up in ST and have absolutley no shot at winning/ being competitive. And while the reavenue sharing has helped this, the Yanks found there loop hole(building a new stadium) and things seem to be very unbalanced again in the league.
  17. • The Yankees might have opened pandora's box here. The labor agreement is up in 2011, and if the economy hasn't picked up by then it could lead to the owners wanting a salary cap. http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=olney_buster&action=upsell&appRedirect=http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index%3fname%3dolney_buster
  18.
  19. I doubt this report is accurate. Last I read/heard was the Yankees FO was split on Manny, and they where thinking of a 1 year deal, and they didn't want to pay 25M a season. This seems to be the total oppostite of the Dominican report. And I don't see Boras letting Manny sign before Tex. Unless Boras told the Yanks that if they gave 3/75M then they would sign right away, kinday like the you can sign Tex right now for 8/195M.
  20. Ya he has the stuff no questions there. His problem is upstairs. But maybe not having the Sox beat his brains in every season may help him.
