  1. If Hanley is in CF, then why not?
  2. I feel the same way. Although at some point I'd like to see an actual move take place.
  3. If the can move Lowell, then slide Youk over to 3B. Dunn could be a way to upgrade the offense. His K's will get old, but oh well. I still like to see Hanley added, CF Hanley 2B Pedroia DH Papi 1B Dunn LF Bay RF Drew 3B Youk C SS Lowrie druel.....
  4. So is he the Red Sox version of Diony, or is Diony the Yankee version of Fenways Faithful?:dunno: He starts with something reasonable, then takes a big mouth turd...
  5. I get your point. Like I said I'd pull the trigger if that was the only deal out there. What other guys are out there that might not be available, but if given the right package coul become available? And Ellsbury is 3 months younger then Hanley. I understand your point there tho.
  6. I'd find it hard to argue with that. But from the eyeball test it looks light. Well they said nothing was happing for now. But knowing what we know now. Do you think there could be a list of players the Sox have looked/are looking in on? They might have a few prospects in mind that they are willing to move. Now they might be sniffing around to see who might be available for those players. Hanley is probably the 1st player on such a list.
  7. Sounds to me like he's got some motivation issues. Too bad he was a good player. Maybe an atmosphere might recharge his battery's so to speak. But I inderstand any critisism aquiring Jones brings.
  8. Assuming we are throwing things around for conversation sake, Best case scenario for Red Sox offseason IMO, Sox Bring in Hanley with out moving Ellsbury/Lowrie, Lowrie becomes super utility player, gives you depth incase Lowell struggles as well. Or they could move Lowell for X, and put Hanley at 3B. Lugo+Bowden for Montero and Byrnes. I know that will take a big toll on the Farm System, but given who is signed currently the team would be set at major positions for the next 2-4 years. Which would give the farm system time to replenish itself.
  9. Does this make Montero anymore available?
  10. I like Hanley in CF. Although I'd rather see him at SS or 3B. But that is only because of my personal opinion Ellsbury. Not to say I dislike Lowrie or Lowell in anyway though. Ideally he would replace Lowell(again this is just personal preference), with Lowrie at SS and Ellsbury in CF. But if I had to choose between Lowrie/Ellsbury on who I'd rather see Hanley replace, i'd vote for Lowrie. But that's only assuming there is a choice. If Ellsbury has to be in the deal, then I would not object.
  11. That's feesable. But i'm sure the Sox would have to add a player if it was Reddick(2 players instead of the 1, the one being Ellsbury).
  12. He doesn't like LA. And yes he would need to listen to Sox hitting coaches. Eventually he's going to get that if he doesn't adjust he is done as a player in the ML's. Hopefully he would come to that understanding and be a decent 4th OF.
  13. Ya, and Maybin in Legit. But the article said they would move Ellsbury to a corner OF spot.
  14. LOL it's the Marlins, what else where they going to do. It's a fairly good buisness model actually. When a player gets too expensive they trade him for 3+ players, that are cost controlled for multi seasons. Thus not having to invest the money they recieve from revenue sharing back into the payroll. Florida's owners is pocketing 20M plus a season easily. That doesn't seem to be a bad buisness model.
  15. LOL we all knew he was getting traded. It was no secret. Infact it was discussed at extent here as to whether the Sox should get involved or not.
  16. I think we can assume the Sox would be picking up the whole contract. the sticking point will be what high end talent is going back to Florida in return for Hanley. 09:$5.5M, 10:$7M, 11:$11M, 12:$15M, 13:$15.5M, 14:$16M We have been talking about this in the other thread, and a good point was made. Hanley is reasonably priced for Florida for 2 more seasons. After that he starts to really get payed. So it's not unreasonable to think they would listen to offers on him. I like the fact the FO is trying to work on something like this. But trying and doing are 2 different things. I'd like to see some one actually brought in, instead of flirting with the idea and not do anything. Go in and blow the Fish away and get him before someone else realizes Florida is listening to offers. I usually don't advocate trading lots of talent, but Hanley is unique.
  17. I agree, I'd be more interested in this move since it fills 2 holes. But if it doesn't pan out, Jones isn't a bad fall back for a 4th OF.
  18. I was just reading the Olney article on rotoworld, and he's owed 15M this season. If LA picked up 10 of that, he might be worth a flier.
