  1. Say it ain't so:( Just another AAAA guy.
  2. Lowe is a good fit for ATL. That's too much $ though. I'm also glad they Sox didn't pay that much for his services.
  3. Hmmm if they can get Montero without giving up a pitching prospect that be nice.
  4. I like your idea. It seems to be reasonable. I also agree with you on Tek. He could have excepted arb and got 10M for 1 season. And after the season he had last year, that was might generous. I still wonder however though if his divorce proceedings had anything to do with his offseason approach?
  5. I think he re ups for something in the 4-5 yr 12-14m range.
  6. Nice post's RSR. Young's D isn't as bad as I thought. But going forward as he ages it's only bound to get worse. And moving to 2B isn't an option in Boston.
  7. Congrats!
  8. Hardy is in the last year of arbitration will require a new deal. I would imagine it will be close to Young's deal. Fielder will be approaching 10M+ a season, all the way until he hits FA. Young is twice the hitter as Weeks. Dunn and Fielder produce at comparable rates. And Dunn will most likely cost less $ and yr wise. And they add Buchholz to the roation and MDC to the BP. Also adding a cost controlled OF in the process as well. The team can trade those offensive pieces and still be a contending team within their division, while probably saving in payroll. It doesn't seem too stupid.

  10. He's owed 62M over the next 5 years. With 15M more deferred. If Texas picks up 15M it's not too bad. Fielder is due a huge raise. He will be approaching Howard type figures soon. The Brewers have a legit SS prospect ready to take over. So in a sense Hardy can be considered expendable. Plus the Brewers will be saving money by not going to arb or having to extend either player. While getting cost controled years from the SP. The Sox can always throw some money one way or the other to make it work.
  11. Here's an idea to throw around. Sox get- Fielder, Hardy Texas get- Lowrie, Lowell, Alamanza(young 3B prospect they want in any deal), SP prospect(lower level like Hadagone or someone) Brewers get- Young(2B )+some $, MDC, SP prospect, OF prospect
  12. Ya his new deal kicks in this year. 16M per for the next 5 years. Pass...... If there looking to package players, they can send Hamilton and a Catcher north:lol:
  13. I agree it's a nice thought. But his D is suspect at best. If it was a total steal propsect wise I would also consider it. There's only a handful of teams that could take on that $. This going public doesn't help there cause either.
  14. More notable outlets are pretty much shooting it down for that reason alone.
  15. I wonder if these are serious talks, or is this being leaked to try and get Texas to come down in demands?:dunno: He would be 3rd on my personal list if the cost was equal for Salty, Teagarden, Montero. But if he is costing less talent wise, then he jumps to the top. I agree that would be the end of Tek in Boston. I find it hard to find a team he could play for though. Especially with him cost a 1st rounder. Anyone think there's a chance he signs in Japan for a season? Or have a out clause if he gets a ML offer? Just throwing that out there.
  16. Atleast Jason Johnson isn't in the running for our #5 spot in the rotation.
  17. Your post drips on envy:lol: I kid, yes there are plenty of concerns about his health. But given the depth of the BP at the moment and the fact he only cost 2M, he is not a huge risk. Now if he was being brought in as the closer, then yes your concerns for him have merit. He's a bonus at this point. Anything he gives is a +. Given what your team has invested in this winter, you should not be calling out any signing out due to health risk's.
  18. I think he will be with the ML team. Especially because I think someone is getting dealt from the BP.
  19. Bowden and MDC to Texas for a Catcher(Salty is most likely out of the 2) Buchholz and company to Brewers for Fielder. The Farm pitching takes a hit, but those 2 moves would be solid moves for the clubs present and future. As long as Fielder can be inked long term.
  20. We have been through the Helton talks. I have mentioned Fielder numerous times. But most don't seem to think the Brew Crew will part with him.
