I don't see why everyone is surprised:dunno: The Yanks gave Burnett 16M+ a season. He's a career .533% pitcher. Andy Peittitte made 16M last season. He was a .500% pitcher. Over the course of his career, he has been a far superior pitcher, been more durable, won more big games and They offer him 10M. Yes he is older. But also comes on a short term deal. Why would he believe he is worth 10 and not the 16 they juat paid Burnett? If this is last offseason, it's a no brainer. Please don't mistake this for me thinking Pettitte is worth 16M a year. It isn't. I don't think AJ is either. But the Yankees set the pitching market. And in the market they set, Pettitte is worth more then 10M. Besides at this point of his career it's ego. Think about it, if your job came to you and said "we want you to take a pay cuy of 37%." When the just hired the boss's step son to do the same job as you, but pay him even more then you make currently. What would be your reaction? Yes these guys are millionairs, but there guys. And no guy at his stage of life wanst to go backwards, would you?

Kind of a stretch there a700. They could hit 100HRS, and knock in 300 runs as well. That has value.

Burrell as DH is nice. Longoria, Pena, Burrell is a nasty mid of the order. TB should be fun to watch again this year. Don't know how everyone feels about it on this board. But I like the fact that TB is competitive now. I think it makes for more interesting baseball.
