  1. They look about as much a like as Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger looked in the movie "Twins".
  2. I did happen to send a PM before I posted any comments.
  3. I'm not big on the WBC either. I mean I like the idea and all. The timing of it is horrible. I agree playing in November in a dome would be better. Alot of players go play winterball anyways. This be a way of keeping things in a normal offseason flow. As far as pitchers go, most top pitchers are smart enough not to get involved in this thing because they understand the consequences. Dice-K is obviously not one of those. He still pitches for pride in his country, instead of doing what the people who sign his checks want. Given his style and the fact he had the lowest inning totals for an 18 game winner ever, I wouldn't cry if he was part of some deal that brought back a top tier player. But that's my opinion.
  4. Don't let Jacko's personal views and hopes get you wound up. Of course hes hoping Youk is a fluke, and the Pedroia has reached his physical limits, Ellsbury is a bust, Lester is a one year wonder, Beckett doesn't regain form, all the Sox FA signings fall through, and a meteor hits Yawkey way. Jacko will find some stat, report or what have you to justify his views. Thus making it easier for him to sleep at night. I mean if you saw your rival spending money wisely, locking up key homegrown talent, drafting quality players, wouldn't you be worried too? Jacko is always going to Poo Poo anything the Sox do. If you understand this going in, it makes his post's entertaining instead of annyoing.
  5. Bringing Tek back on a 1 yr deal isn't all that bad. They could still look to deal for a Catcher as well.
  6. Tek. The fact they get to avoid Boras only helps. I still think there could be a trade even if he is signed.
  7. So immature of me, but yes you are correct.
  8. It's not that far of a stretch to think Lester is a top LHP on the horizon. Papelbon is one of the best closers. And statistic wise Beckett is one of the top Post Season pitchers of all time.
  9. LOL well he was never on the Market. He was just a thought. But I was right about Baldelli, Kotsay and Penny:D
  10. That's the least of the concerns.
  11. http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/hot_stove/posts/41421?eref=fromSI I like the fact there trying. If they can sign Papelbon and Lester long term, this will have been just as good an offseason as anyone could have hoped for.
  12. Thats a good way to sum it up.
  13. Nice sign for the Sox. I'm glad to see the core being locked up. Theres multiple players I would like to see extended.
  14. All I know is he has said he likes playing Boston.
  15. Papelbon wants big $ and big stage. Very few organizations can provide both. That's all I'm really getting at.
  16. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/hotstove08/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=3834458 Good read. I wonder if this will make more players available if they win there arbitration cases? Maybe this is what the Sox are waiting for to happen. Maybe some names that weren't available recently, all the sudden are deamed to be too expensive. Anyone like the idea of Verlander?
  17. I hate to say it, but he has a point. We will find out soon. It will come down to how much Bay likes Boston, or is he wants top dollar. Because if he hits FA, he will be a Yankee. They will go 10M or a year above what the Sox are willing to. It's not a stretch by any means. Truth is the might sign both of Holliday and Bay. Fact of the matter, we know now that the Yankees are capable of being in on ANYONE at ANYTIME. And are willing to out spend anyone. And RSN better get used to this fact like it or not. And be prepared to be booing Papelbon in a couple years. But even if all that happens, the Sox will find a way to be competitive. And in the long run, that's what most fans really want.
  18. They most certainly took advantage of not having to loose valuable picks, I'll give them that. What are the actual picks there giving up and to who?
