  1. Add Miggys new deal in to the mix, and Buchholz +2 maybe 3, doesn't seem to be too far off.
  2. Well he's as good or better hitter then Tex. He is 3 years younger. Can play multiple positions at a passable level. His deal is 1yr/40M less then Tex. The only downside is the possible talent the team might have to give up. This guy like Hanley is a legit stud, so yes everything considered, I wouldn't be upset if they moved some top prospects for him. What did Detroit trade anyways, Maybin, Miller, and who? 2 top guys and some low level guys?
  3. The fact the Sox didn't sign him isn't the biggest issue or why so many have gone crazy here. It's the fact the Sox didn't get him and the Yankess did. This is where the madness stems from. If he signs with DC or someone else, I honestly think we wouldn't even be discussing him.
  4. Everything else aside, why does everyone think it will cost a ton of propsects? I understand Miggy value. But his contract will only hurt it. Whenever we discuss trades here, the contract is always considered, and usually because of it(depending on how much it is) calls for less propsects if the team is willing to pick up the whole contract. Why would this case be different? How many teams can take on 141M? If the Sox gave 3 top prospects and took all the $ on the contract, I would think that Detroit would like that. Assuming it's a must they deal his contract off the book of course.
  5. The Tigers need a SS. And where discussing Lugo earlier this season. It's not insane to believe he could be a throw in any deal. Just like Lowell was in the Beckett deal.
  6. Yes. But not in the dismay some are in that he didn't.
  7. Yes, production wise and attitude wise they are similar. Miggy is young enough to change tho IMO. Given the right enviorment, this guy could be one of the Best RH hitters in the game.
  8. We established this already. In fact, it's a main point to the argument. In a time where it's reasonable to think some teams including Detroit(possibly hardest hit city by finanical crisis), might be willing to move a big contract more they would have been.
  9. Yes guys that are older and lesser in talent, usually cost less LOL Guillen: 09:$10M, 10:$13M, 11:$13M He's cheaper, but production wise, he's not close to Miggy.
  10. LOL That and the fact your really Mike Lowell and didn't want to be traded:thumbsup:
  11. Won't matter much if ownership tells him to get the $ off the books. Detroit is one of the teams seriously hit by the financial situation. And 09:$15M, 10:$20M, 11:$20M, 12:$21M, 13:$21M, 14:$22M, 15:$22M would be alot coming off the books. Miggy at 7/141M seems to be a deal compared to Tex's 8/180M. There offensive production is comparable, though Tex is far and away a better fielder and Miggy will cost some prospects.
  12. LOL I know we been over it. I was just offering my theory as to why you didn't want him in the first place:lol:
  13. I've read here and there about Detroit possibly considering moving Miggys big $ contract. We discussed him last year. Theoretically, with his big contract now, he might cost less in prospects to aquire then last season. Maybe have him at 1B this season, move him to LF next season if Bay leaves. Or leave him at 1B until Lars is ready, then move him to DH. Anyone intersted in him? Lugo, Bowden, Bard, +1 OF/IF prospect?
  14. If Bay doesn't except what Theo and CO offer, then I can see him being dealt at some point this season.
  15. That would make sense for most teams. But seems how he's on the Yanks, he could have a great year and probaly will still get replaced by the big money name.
  16. Adam Dunn would like you as his agent.
  17. He will get 18M if he becomes a Yankee. No one else will pay that much.
  18. Are you really Mike Lowell? It would make so much sense:lol:
  19. I agree he doesn't seem like the big flashy guy that will chase the biggest contract. With that in mind, i could see him exceptin a reasonable extension. 4/50-60M?
  20. Sheets-(2001-2008)(8 Seasons) G 221 W-L 86-83 ERA 3.72 IP 1428 K 1206 BB 313 H 1402 Penny-(2000-2007)(8 Seasons) G 226 W-L 86-68 ERA 4.35 IP 1363 K 981 BB 433 H 1366 Penny is within a 10-20% production rate of Sheets. But Sheets would presumabley cost 100%+ more to obtain(Penny 1 yr 5M, Sheets will most likely cost 1-2yrs+, 10M a season). Yes Sheets is the better pitcher. But Penny is the better value. That is what I was trying to get at.
