  1. We. Where. Saying. If. He. Became. A. FA. Please. Keep. Up.
  2. But is there honestly any reason for me not to think that? A team with no budget(no fiscal sense)- a team with a high budget(fiscally minded)......No, High, No, High ummm I'm pretty sure that means the No budget team can out spend the high budget team:lol:(which is well within the rules, so I'm not too bothered by it, just over dramatizing:D) But this is why the Sox have put so much into their farm system, it allows them to not over spend for veteran FA players. Ya they may want some of these guys. But they are going to place a value upon such players. As they have shown, they typically aren't willing to break it for any player. While NYY have typically shown they'll add 10M or another year to the deal just to get them to come to NY. The only time I see Boston beating out NY for a FA is if they go in fast hard and leave with a deal in place. . But how manyplayers are going to accept that? Knowing that the Yanks can always drive up their price for them, I don't see many FA's leaving them out. Or that NY is not in on the player Jorge will be coming off the books, so the Yanks will be in on Mauer. If they want him, they will probably have to trade and sign an extension. Too bad baseball didn't work like football as far as FA go. Most typically go visit 1 or 2 teams sometimes even being signed before they leave the to go to the airport. Baseball is a long drawn out, dead horse beating process.
  3. I'm fine with that combo as well. Would you deal Bowden for Salty? Or Buchholz for Teagarden?
  4. If they are willing to do that, I think its reasonable to think they could settle on bowden +1.
  5. Yes I consider it private. But Torre never air laundry while he was the manager. Like I said before, don't do it while your there, when it can become a disraction, or create a media frenzy. (Which if he had said any of this, the NY media would have gone ape s***) But now that he is with another organization and time has passed, I personaly don't see it being wrong. I still say to wait and see what context this is all in. And a700, do you honestly think Ol Joe came up with the SWF referrence? I think you will find out that that was Verducci's interpretation of what Torre said. This was all leaked on purpose to market the book. I mean it's all over ESPN, free advertising is always nice:D
  6. Or better yet the players involved can take a nice long look at themselves, realize how childish they are, and be better because of it. Thus Torre teaching his final lesson of humility:D Besides, he's not really saying anything new. I would bet most atleast considered Arod having Jeter issues, and Torre and FO having problems upon depature. All this does is confirm it.
  7. I agree. As far as game calling, they can have the pitch called from the bench if need be.
  8. I'm not saying he is there. But there is atleast a small concern for his durability.
  9. Nice deal for the Yanks.
  10. Diony's version of fail, is if you don't overpay for a player. He doesn't realize there's other ways of negotiation, other then blowing everyone else out of the water.
  11. Yes, offering arb(knowing Boras will most likely decline) and protecting your team with a compensation pick is stupid... Then getting the player at 1/2 of the likely arb outcome is stupid... Why even bring up Tek's bat? Has anyone here said we need his bat in the lineup? I doubt it. The main reason for wanting Tek, is his intangables behind the dish, not at it. Your and mine opinions of "stupid" differ drastically. Diony= Sukkel(Dutch, look it up)
  12. But you just went through his injury history dating back to 2006:wtf:
  13. I never like to see anyone go down with an injury for a extended period or a career for that matter. Having your best possible teams face each other is far more entertaining then facing a mediocore team. Even if that means losing. But if Joba, Burnett or someone else went down, I'd make my jokes, but never anything with mailice intended.
  14. And I'm selling my favorite batch of pubes......
  15. I wouldn't do a 180. If Tito leaves and after a couple years comes out with a book about everyday life with Manny, Damon, Millar ect., then so be it. I'll find it as an interesting perspective. Just as long as he isn't airing it out while still at the helm of the team, then I don't mind. I think we all need to reserve judgment until the book comes out and we can see what context everything is in. I think the media has focused too much on a couple negative comments out of the book, I mean it is 500 pages, and all we hear about it, A-Fraud, and Joe's final days in NY. There is alot more to the book then just that.
  16. 13M for Jorge:lol: And fot the next 3 years:lol: And he might not be able to throw to 2B:lol: Or catch for that matter:lol:
  17. Knee jerk reactions... This will be a non issue by March. When thinking of Torre will all of you remember what he did in NY, or his book?
  18. As far as the single white female referrence, albeit a great one,Torre didn't write the book all by himself, Torre co-authored the book with Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci. It might not even be Torre's words, but Verducci's interpretation of them. Torre took a lot of crap while at the helm, but for the most part always backed his players and never was a thorn in FO side. He could have said all this stuff while in NY, but can you imagine what chaos that would have bestowed upon the Yankee organization? The fact that time has gone by, and he has moved onto a different organization, lessen the "shock" factor. Although some of the stuff is very interesting, it will do little to effect his legacy in NY, and I don't see it as being a distraction for either.
