  1. He may have been thinking last year was an aberration, but this may become a trend with mid tier FA's now. He may change his approach after this off season when it comes to his pillow contract clients. Happy New Year Fred and everyone else here
  2. Not really, He was arguably the best "clean" SS on the market coming off a solid season and a WS title. Obviously it wouldn't be 14M AAV but a multi year deal was pretty much a forgone conclusion by most everyone. I figured he'd get at least 3/25-30M. The fact he appears to have so little of a market is surprising. I'm still guessing Boras pulls a multi year deal.
  3. I like Nava a lot but he's cringe worthy in RF long term. Occasionally I can stomach, but not on a regular basis.
  4. I'd offer Lester 5/85M(Weaver deal). Anything more than that and I'm not feeling so good about it. Love Lester but I'm not into to signing any player long term into his mid 30's these days. If he wants more than 5/85 let him walk.
  5. I read somewhere he was throwing like 150 pitch complete games. The Japanese teams don't give a s*** about the elite players long term health. They know if he's really good he will be going to American so they get as much out of them why they have them and let the ML team deal with the ticking time bomb. I'd pass on him. I hope Seattle gets him because that division would be fun to watch.
  6. This guy is being talked about in a lot of threads. Now that he is officially posted I figure we can consolidate everything into one thread. My opinion from what I've read and seen(I'm not a scout I'm talking ESPN MLBTR and youtube people) he looks more Dice K than Darvish to me. I don't believe the Sox will be in on him. I think after Darvish's 108M total investment Tanaka will get in the 115-130M range( 20M to Eagles, rest to Tanaka over 6-7 years). The Yanks have t be considered interested regardless of their desire to get under the LT threshold and Arod's salary a ? at the moment. I think Seattle makes a lot of sense. AZ looks to be serious and the Cubs could make a a solid case as well.
  7. Damn does he really represent both?
  8. That's insane lol
  9. At first I thought wtf? But after some thought I can understand the move. He's made his money, won a WS and his family gets to go with him. That's a valuable experience for all of them. If he does good he'll be treated like the Greek God of old lol good luck to him.
  10. Ya I saw that one too, was a good read. Who is on the ballot this year?
  11. JBJ being as valuable or more then Choo for next season is a bit of a stretch.
  12. Cubs were am absolute grease fire when Epstien took over. The Sox had a decent roster. If I was a Cubs fan I'd be excited for 2015 and hope for top 5 picks for the next 2 years. The hell with that 80 win crap. When the young talent is ready to take over that is the time to spend the money and go for it. Which is what they are doing in Chicago and they have some really nice prospects in the pipeline. Theo's job should not be in question
  13. He was arguably the most dominate SP of his generation, definitely a HOF in my book. He was so durable for so long it was insane. But when it finally let go it went quick.
  14. Very doubtful fred. I don't foresee any big names being added to the rotation. If anything we could see them deal a SP. Kinda odd to have have an off season where everything seems pretty squared away before the winter meetings huh? If they bust the LT threshold this season I think it will be to get Kemp(for WMB, Dempster and a SP prospect, $ is the deal I've been floating in my head lately) and Drew, not to get a P like Tanaka.
  15. For all the pro's and con's I feel like Kemp might be in play for them. If they can get the AAV to around 17M I think it's worth the risk and a solid alternative to Ells. Davis is ot a bad low risk option tho either.
  16. This is the one "wow" move I can see them doing this off season. Not sure if they pull the trigger and it will all come down to price for me. But it's interesting concept.
  17. I think it be better entertainment if it was only listed a something seemingly minor but holds them out for the entire season lol
  18. Also reading he turned down a bigger offer from Texas. Yanks over paying everyone in years and money and players taking discounts to be on the Sox, awesome haha
  19. So Ells, Gardner, Ichiro, Wells, Soriano, and Beltran? That OF is getting crowded, maybe they are going to play Soriano at 2B hahaha one could only hope. Beltran is a good sign, but again if the Sox had given him 3 years I wouldn't have been too thrilled. He's hoping for a Ells-Beltran collision in the OF next year lol
  20. Nice to have Napoli back. Sweet deal too, I figured he was getting 3 years minimum with a shot at 4 or 5.
  21. Apparently the Mariners are playing up the "you can be another Yankee legend or a baseball legend by helping Seattle to it's first WS title" angle. I think if they got Price first it would make them more appealing. If they pull that off before Cano signs elsewhere(I still think the Nats are a darkhorse) they have a punchers chance imo.
  22. Your gonna eat it and like it you lil unruly bastard
  23. You're allowed to negotiate with more than one player at a time
  24. How so? I read at the beginning of the off season they had 100M committed for next season giving them about 90M to spend before the LT threshold. Ells 20M or so and McCanns what 17M? By my cound they still have like 40Mish left to spend. I could be wrong tho.
