  1. It be a good way to increase his value if he can show he can play 1B as well as C. If he hits well in ST they could might be able to get someone to bite on him.
  2. The Red Sox are fielding an AL East contender at the moment. And after a WS that's pretty much all us fans can hope for going into the next season. Now it all comes down to which way the ? fall and that's what makes it fun I can't even fathom what would NY's response be to a Sox repeat. If the Sox repeat and the Yanks have a losing season? hahaha And after all of that Arod comes back in 2015 hahaha I don't believe there to be a sweeter season then that from a Red Sox fan's perspective. That's it, that's the mountain top..
  3. 3 years at 12M per means the Yanks come in and blow everyone out of the water with 5/85M offer with a vesting 20M 6th year lol
  4. What about adding 5/90 to his current deal with a team option 6th year at 20M with 7M buyout. That be 110M for 6 years, possibly 7/123M?
  5. Lester is less attractive as a 20M a year guy through his mid 30's. That may be blasphemy but I see Lester as a lower #1 type. He has dominant stretches but he's never had one of those shutdown seasons where he just goes out and dominates almost every night like the Verlanders and Felix's have. So maybe that's why I don't see him getting that kind of money.
  6. Not it's not. He's not Felix, Verlander, Kershaw and should not get that kind of money in an extension. A Weaver type extension with the added parts of previously stated is a fair "hometown" offer. Low balling him would be offering him an Edwin Jackson type deal or something.
  7. I'd offer Lester 5/90M(5M more then the extension Weaver signed). Maybe a 6th year club option for 20M with a 5M buy out.
  8. .301/.372/.415 .307/.370/.454 It's not leaps and bounds different. It was down a bit in the SLG department, most likely due to his injury. All in all I would say that falls in line pretty close to career norms. Am I missing something?
  9. Banelos has lost some luster and how can't count on anything from Pineda(I think thats who you meant) until he roves he's recovered. Both teams have question marks. I'd take the Sox ?'s over the Yanks ?'s. Most of the Red Sox ?'s come from young up and coming players, the Yankees ?'s are on old players returning from injury. And you keep saying AJ replaces Salty and that's a loss. What your're not remembering that it's not just AJ, it's a platoon of AJ and Ross and that is a + on offense and defense. X replaces Drew. Is it hard to imagine that one of the top ss prospects could produce a similar line to Drews? Napoli was around career norms, as was Pedey. Ortiz is probably due for a bit of a decline along with Vic. Nava/Gomes/Carp aren't full time guys, and will be used int he right situations, maybe their numbers fall of some but it's not like they are the anchors of the lineup. Regardless it looks to be another exciting season and I can't wait I'd also like to point out how laid back it is here for this time of year. Usually at this point even the nice posters are ready to tear someones throat out around here haha

  11. LOL gotta love Jacko's late January doomsday predicitions! Means ST is almost here! Yankees: Upgraded at C 1B Returning TEX coming off a bad wrist 2B replaced best player with Brian Roberts SS 40 year old Jeter who is still rehabbing 3B Kelly Johnson, not even a starter for the Blue Jays LF Gardner, good player poor mans Ellsbury, more durable CF Ells, Rich mans Gardner, due for a long DL stint as its an even year RF Ancient Beltran Decent top 5 rotation, absolutely f*** all for back up as far as prospects/veterans, but they are the Yankees, surely those 5 guys will make it all the way through the season. Bp lost the best closer of all time and replaced him with the set up man, rest of BP is meh But ya the Sox replacing Ells with JBJ and Drew with X plus having 6 legit SP and about 5+ SP prospects that can contribute this season totally means the Sox are screwed hahaha
  12. The Yes network has moved in and occupied SoxSports home and started the conversion process while also, taking all his money, impregnating his wife and kicking his dog..
  13. After the Sox down 2012 the whole rivalry angle seem to level off a bit this season. I expect with the Sox winning it all and the Yankees implementing their doomsday reaction plan, I expect the media to be back behind the "greatest rivalry" in sports mumbo jumbo before each and every Yanks-Sox series this year.
  14. Other then that this is a really good debate. It's pretty much slit down the middle imo. I picked Grady for the "story" element.
  15. LOL Roberts hits a HR in his 1st AB, blows his back out rounding the bases and is lost for the season leaving him with a BA of 1.000 and an extremely Pissed off Youk as he has no chance of winning the bet after 1 ab in game 1 of 162.
  16. Only way Drew comes back is if they trade a SP imo. Other than that I don't see them breaking the LT for him.
  17. I like the move. Little surprised it was a ML deal but it's not that hampering of a deal. It will all come down to health. If he's healthy we all know he can hit.If he's not then we will never see him and probably forget he's on the roster by July. Someone will have to get moved eventually. I don't expect a move before he proves he can play unless they get a great deal. I'm guessing Carp will e the one to get traded. MLBTR was saying there was lots of interest in him earlier in the off season. No idea what they could get for him. Good RP be nice.
  18. lol gold
  19. Irabu 2.0 be better
  20. Congrats to Yankeeland...... But sweet baby Jesus I mean it's not really a shock he's a Yankee, but 7/155M for a guy that's never pitched in the ML and has that kinda mileage on his arm? That's insane. Just insane. Jacko you said it yourself, 155M for a middle of the rotation SP, that's a wtf factor of 10 lol
  21. I think the Yanks would have recouped some money if Arod had missed the entire season due to injury last year.
  22. I'd be surprised if Pedroia was using. Other then him I wouldn't be surprised by anyone really. I think the PED issue is stupid. They are professional athletes let them use. Use the drug test for amateurs who can't typically afford hard to trace PEDs and would be hurt more by some kind of penalty that would make the ineligible for professional sports or something idk. This system is stupid and obviously it isn't getting the results it was aiming for. The only way to make them stop is like I and others have said around here, make the penalty financial. 1st time offense: 100 games, no pay, league minimum for a calender year( remaining salary to be donated of course) 2nd offense: Suspension for a calender year, no pay, remaining contract now becomes voidable at the teams discretion, league minimum for 328 games 3rd offense: contract is immediately terminated, out of the league.
  23. This whole deal is greasy on both sides. Fred I just ignore all the crap now. I was interested in his suspension and how it impacted the Yankees on the field product. All this circus crap isn't worth the time imo.
  24. This could get interesting. Not surprising with the abundance of Outfielders they have, they only owed him 2.4M while LAA has to pay 18M lol
