  1. I thought Ellsbury was signed to leadoff? Just for fun here's how see the Yankee batting order play out, 1. Ellsbury CF 2. Jeter SS 3. Beltran RF 4. McCann C 5. Teixeira 1B 6. Soriano DH 7. Gardner LF 8. Johnson 3B 9. Roberts 2B
  2. Fans will get ugly if he follows the same decline of former LHP horses such as CC and Santana. That and what are the odds he stay's a top of the rotation SP for the duration of the deal? How many mid 30's guys are out there right now you'd consider 1 or a 2? Lee comes to mind. But there are not many. Listen I'm not against extending Lester. I'm just saying the chances of them letting him go are higher and more understandable then many believe and I won't be surprised or overly surprised if that happens.
  3. I actually thought it was a valid issue Jacko presents. I don't consider not having a deal at this point with Lester worrisome. There really is no rush. But signing Lester is not as cut and dry as maybe I and others believed it would be. The landscape of baseball is changing. It's moving towards the youth. With less PED use players 30+ have become crap shoots. Teams are moving the best prospects along at what seems like a quicker pace then it was say 5-10 years ago. It seems like teams are trying to get all they can out of players in their 20's and letting someone else pay for their 30+ years. Tom Verducci wrote a really good article recently on the topic. Also lets consider Lesters work load. That arms has some miles. Denying that is impossible. CC was a workhorse year in and year out until he wasn't. Same goes for Halladay. The wheels are going to come off eventually. And it's more likely to happen in a players 30's. Then there are the SP prospects in the pipeline. While there are no guarantee's the consensus is there are 5-6 legit rotation arms almost MLB ready. If the Sox feel some of those guys could step in and replace Lester's regular season production then why give him 100M+ for his riskier years? The Sox could very well be adopting a similar approach to SP as TB has. Draft, develop and move on when FA arrives. The main difference being the Sox would use the money saved by doing that to supplement the offense and BP and extensions for young players.
  4. But Brian Roberts is supposed to be the starting 2B lol Drew to the Yanks makes sense. Or he can hold out into ST to see if Jeter has a hiccup and then have more leverage.
  5. Could he really jump up to enough IP to be a viable #5?
  6. Of all the arguments on this trade I bet very few would have guessed it would be a complete an absolute bust on both sides. Montero showed up to camp 40 pounds over the team expected weight. 40 f***ing pounds , that's absolutely insane. Pineda blew his arm out so there is nothing really good there. BTW where is Pineda in his rehab? I know he through like 40 IP in the minors last year. Is he in the minors all season to build up his innings or do they expect him to possibly make the rotation out of camp?
  7. Brett Gardner is still literally the poor man's Ellsbury lol Although 52M isn't too poor. Good for him. He probably was looking at a Bourn type deal on the open market imo.
  8. A Yankee fan citing depth as an issue for another AL East team hahaha Yanks are the most top heavy team in the league with little to no depth just about everywhere. But Ya I'm sure everyone on the 25 man roster will be fine all year.
  9. I'd like it to be a Weaver type deal but I'm guessing it's gonna be something like 5/100M, 2.5M signing bonus, 2 option years(IP triggers) at 20M with a 7.5M buyout. That's 110M guaranteed over at least 5 years and possibly 140M over 7. That gives Lester a nice pay day and it's also a deal that protects the club a bit too. If it's much more then that I bet they let him walk.
  10. The Sox have good depth at SP imo. They could do a lot worse for a #6 than Workman.
  11. Ya no problem with a minor league deal for a guy like Johan.
  12. It be kind of interesting to see how Ethier's bff Pedroia could get out of him. If the prospect haul wasn'too demanding and the Dodgers ate enough of the deal to make it a 10M a year deal I'd be interested.
  13. a700 in normal business sense it's dumb to walk away from 13m. But we all know professional sports is a different animal. It's a classy move to step away. I'd have way more of an issue if he showed up and half ass'd it all season to collect a check.
  14. If Ellsbury does really well he could easily become the most hated Yankee outside of Arod. Horseface and Fatassia are up there, but for me without some career resurgence, they are approaching that point of not being that big of a threat. It's a good question. After Arod it's all a pretty close race for most hated. Whomever is on a hot streak will probably garner the most hate from me
  15. This has to be their main goal on the international front. They have absolutely nothing in the minors for a long term solution at SS.
  16. Jeter has been a bitter rival on the enemies side for a long time. That said he's been a class act on the diamond and not embarrassing to the game off it. Ya he's a playboy but whatever more power to him. Anyone that has an issue with that is either jealous, old, or a bible thumper lol I appreciate what he's done for the game. He's probably one of the last remaining players from my late childhood early teens, which was when baseball was the most important thing in my life. It took f***ing forever but the cornerstones of the most recent Yankee dynasty are finally gone
  17. Via mlbtr.
  18. Can anyone go check on him?!?!
  19. Wish him the best.
  20. If he's willing to be a utility player I would think NYY would make more sense. There's a decent shot he could end up with a starting spot there eventually anyways. I think one of the NY teams signs him.
  21. Just.Have.Fun.With.It.
  22. Damn that's a good one. Games 4-7 of the 2004 ALCS. Pedro 1999 AS game making Barry Larkin, Larry Walker, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, and Jeff Bagwell look like little league kids.
  23. Maybe it is Stanton? Unlikely but maybe. Maybe the Marlins really like WMB. If that's the case they could throw in Carp and 1-2 SP prospects and Miami might bite. Other then that I agree I can't think of anyone they have that you'd give up on WMB potential?
  24. AL East Red Sox* Rays* O's Yanks (this is not a Yankees hate pick. I just think they are thin and have some major ?, I will however not be in a state of shock if they some how manage to stay in contention like they always seem to do) Jays AL Central Tigers* Guardians Royals Twins White Sox AL West Rangers* A's* Angels Mariners Astros NL East Nationals* Braves Phillies Marlins Mets NL Central Cards* Reds Pirates Brewers Cubs NL West Dodgers* Diamondbacks* Giants* Padres Rockies
  25. Sweet baby Jesus is it time for predictions already? Have to give it a think.
