  1. I'm disgusted Cleveland yet again has the 1st pick. f***ing absurd. They might as well just put one ball in for each team. The extra balls mean jack. Also in the age of ratings grabbing I still can't believe they don't televise the drawing.
  2. Can we all just stop for the moment and realize as bad as it has been they are only 5 games out of 1st place. They rolled the dice with the youngsters for 2 months and didn't win. But they didn't lose either. They are not out of it and there is plenty of baseball left to get it straightened out. Yes some things need to be tinkered with, but it's not like they went with the youngsters and became the Houston Astros and the season is lost already.
  3. This looks like a phantom DL stint to me. He's struggling, has no options and the Red Sox don't want to put him on waivers because someone will absolutely claim him. That's just the way I see it tho.
  4. They can do that too. This discussion is just one of the scenarios the team could go with. I'd like to see them figure it out as well and be adding at the TDL for a post season run, but if t's not in the cards then cash in what you can.
  5. Ya why not? If they are out of the running for the playoffs and Lester and can get something better then a supplemental pick do it.
  6. Interesting thought Pal. I'm sure that's one scenario they planned for. One of a few I could have seen them having going into the season. But they probably do that every year. I'm not sure about Lavs being the guy to see significant time. Wouldn't it be better to see what Vasquez can do? Regardless I agree, if it's looking grim come the TDL I don't have a problem with seeing any of those guys dealt get a few good prospects back.
  7. I think he gets 5 years with a vesting option at 17m per from The Sox. On the Market I would expect him to get 6 years 20-25M per from someone. NYY would probably give 7 years at 27M if they want him. Scherzer will get 6-7 years at 20M+ per year. It's just how the FA market is now. Less and less high quality talent is becoming available and there is too much money and bold enough owners/GM's for them not to get those types of deals even if they aren't top tier talent.
  8. Pick up the option and then trade him. If he pitches well all season he's gonna have good value. Let some other team sort out an extension for him.
  9. We don't. Leave him in the role he's excelling at. If they want to bump someone from the rotation they have resources in AAA.
  10. Is Google down?
  11. Yes Eck is by far my favorite of the replacements Love the Remdawg and believe he and Orsillo have a good chemistry But I agree with others that it can be a bit boring sometimes. Eck makes me laugh and I find his view of the game and how explains it to be interesting. I know he's not everyones cup of tea.
  12. Trout's trade value dropped a notch when he got his big deal. But it's still astronomical and borderline ridiculous. You would have to think any team wanting to trade for him is gonna have to give LAA their pick of the litter when it comes to prospects. It'l also cost your someone of their choosing from the ML roster. I love to kick around trade ideas but I can't even fathom one that would peak LAA's interest from a Sox stand point. Miami could offer Stanton and Fernadez + prospects package(I have no clue about their system). That might at least make LAA pause and think if the prospect haul was good enough I guess.
  13. lmao it's April, get a life.. If they are under .500 come July then I'll worry about their chances more.
  14. Every team knows that. But signing a guy to 20M+ through his 30's is a big risk these days. Lester is probably a front line SP the next years but after that it's a crap shoot. What if he pulls a CC? I don't want to have to hope he's at least a mid rotation guy not half way through that deal. I love Lester and think he is a really good SP. But I'm not gonna cry when the Sox don't offer him 6+ years at 20M+ per. They offered him 4 and probably will go 5 with a vesting 6th year option at 17-19M per. If he wants more then that I'm betting they let him walk.
  15. Sox just signed Ryan Roberts to a ML deal. I think that answers that question.
  16. lmao totally worth a watch. His absolutely nails Lou Brown
  17. Actually I think he raises a valid point(even if it's his MO to want Lester to hit FA). I can see a few scenarios where the team would be ok with letting him walk. One of Doubront and/or Buchholz step up and show #1 front line stuff for 220+ IP and 1 or more of the prospects shows and is ready IP wise to hold down a rotation spot next season. If Lester's price is 25M+ a year I don't see him on the Sox. I don't see the Sox giving anyone 20M+ a year anytime soon(unless Harper hits FA lol).
  18. Well that's that.
  19. Kind of a surprise.
  20. Another 10+ year deal for a guy leaving his prime lol These deals are ridiculous. I guess if he goes down hill LAD and NYY will be lining up to take him off Detroits hands. At least their DH spot is open for him. Mike Trout must be bouncing off the walls with excitment, he's probably looking at 10 yrs 300M as the floor now if he puts together another season this year like his last 2. While LAA FO are all sitting in dark corners crying themselves to sleep
  21. That's actually a really good idea as long as people don't go overboard. Let's see how YOTN feels on it. I vote yes
  22. If they think Sizemore is able to handle every day duties I'm guessing Bradley will go to the minors. From what I've read they don't seem to want to trade Carp unless it's for something significant. Bradley will be first guy up as soon as one of the OF's hits the DL. It's bound to happen at some point realistically. My lineups at this point would be LHP CF Sizemore RF Vic 2B Pedroia DH Papi 1B Napoli LF Gomes 3B Middlebrooks C Ross SS Bogaerts RHP CF Sizemore RF Vic 2B Pedroia DH Papi 1B Napoli LF Nava 3B Middlebrooks C AJ SS Bogaerts I think putting the least amount of pressure on Bogaerts early on is important. Move him up in the lineup if he forces the issue.
  23. No Boras bail out there. That quote from Boras about the pick being a jail sentence is a pretty fair statement of the situation imo tho. Yes in hindsight he should have accepted the QO, but I can totally see him and Boras believeing and rightfully so he would be able to land a multi year deal on the open market. It was Him and Peralta at the top of the SS market. It could be argued Drew is the better player since Peralta is a ? to stick at SS much longer and you didn't know what his bat was gonna look like after he was off his vitamin program. Drew has just hit the perfect storm of teams who need a SS aren't giving up their picks and the ones that don't care about the pick(or already gave up a 1st rounder) seemingly don't need a SS.
  24. If that's the kind of player Bradley is I've got no interest in him. He's not a veteran, if he can't beat out the talented but injury plagued Sizemore tough s***. Go play in the minors get your work in until you are needed in Boston.
