  1. Well a good game for the guys from the Bronx. Even you guys have to admit, it was an extremely exciting series. Even your blowout win was close until the 7th.
  2. Congrats on this win, RSN....time to go drinking. Rubber game tomorrow, huge for us, of no real concern to you. Damn it. Oh well.
  3. Wang didn't have it today. Beckett does. I tip my cap to Beckett, he came up big when you needed it. Wang was just up in the zone all day, and it finally caught up to him.
  4. Bad call by the umpire. Posada blocked the plate. I doubt it will make a difference in the outcome, but the ump blew that call.
  5. Good hard clean play by Hinske.
  6. I hope Youkilis didn't get hurt.
  7. Yeah, that was intentional. Hitting Youkilis on a 1-2 count with Ortiz on deck of a 1-1 game. Get real.
  8. Wang's not hitting his normal 94-95 on his splitter. Could be a long day for him.
  9. I stand corrected.
  10. Hopefully the penalty is harsh enough to discourage other teams from cheating in the same way.
  11. I agree. I think, however, if the Yankees win today, Sunday's game is of much larger importance to the Red Sox than to us. We'll see.
  12. As a Yankee fan, I love Tek. He's a great player. To tell you the truth, I wish Jeter would have stuck up for Arod the same way. The guy deserves to be captain of any team. There are certain players I like on other teams, Tek is one of them.
  13. Before the start of the game.... In your opinion, this game is more important to which team, the Yankees or the Red Sox? I'd be interested in reading you opinions BEFORE the game.
  14. After 20 more World Championships for you. I LOVE IT!
  15. The guy makes Bobby Abreu look like Babe Ruth. The guy is slugging .399 Even when he hits it, it doesn't go far. At least Pena could hit past the infield. The problem with Pena is that the Sox had no place for him. However, you guys should have had a strict platoon with him and Drew. I never understood why you didn't stick with that.
  16. Matsuzaka pitched better. They both did not have good stuff last night. No doubt about either point. Two points: 1) This wasn't a comparison between the two. Matsuzaka had nothing. He gritted it out, and that showed me a lot about him as a pitcher and player. Once again, you can't see that I was complimenting him. Let me put it this way...if what he was throwing last night IS his talent level, you guys made one of the worst signings in your history. The truth is, he's a better pitcher than he pitched last night, but he couldn't have pitched any better with what he had. 2) Right now, through the playoffs, who would you rather have, Pettitte or Matsuzaka?
  17. Carl Pavano, opening day starter. Enough said. That's not my question...how many of you guys would have given up on the Red Sox's chances if you were 14.5 back in May? I honestly didn't think they had a shot. I hoped they did, but logic said no. So....when I admit that I didn't think my team could do it, you call me fair-weather. When I stick by my team and needle you guys about it, I'm a troll. Conclusion: You're idiots.
  18. Mid august, you guys fell apart, and still had a great shot at the wild card. Your team packed it in, and you know it. With the exception of Clemens, who has been very ordinary, we didn't make any moves of significance. Let's be honest here..... If the Yankees had a 14.5 game lead on the Red Sox in May....what would you guys think of their chances?
  19. Never happen, bad for the game. Baseball is about mistakes and failures. That's what makes it great. I have no problem with instant replay for plays in the field, but not for balls and strikes.
  20. I didn't think they would do it. I admit that, and I readily have already. If I was preaching they'd come back when 14.5 down, you'd think I was insane. I've been on their side on every pitch since 1982. Doesn't mean I think they're going to win every time, but I don't give up on the team. I give up on their chances. I admit I did. Wasn't the first time, won't be the last time. I remember giving up on their chances with two outs in the 9th inning against Arizona with Brosius at the plate when I was at the stadium. It happens. Actually, the only one here I remember saying the Yankees weren't dead was Schillingouttheks. What I believed, and what I hoped for were two different things. There's a difference between being a fan and being logical. In case you didn't know, the fan comes from the word fanatic. I seem to remember after a certain five game series last year, the great majority of you guys quit on your team too. You didn't stop rooting for them, just conceded the division. Who knew your team would tank so bad they wouldn't even make the wild card?
