  1. Well, since it is getting down to the wire, here's the way the four team seeding is as of 9/23: Guardians 92-63 [4 games @ Seattle, 3 games @ K.C.] Red Sox 92-64 [2 vs Oakland, 4 vs Minesota] Angels 92-64 [3 @ Texas, 3 @ Oakland] Yankees 90-65 [1 vs Toronto, 3 @ T.B., 3 @ Orioles] In case of a regular season tie for record: Guardians win: NONE Guardians tie: Angels [5-5 head-to-head] I don't know who won the coin toss. Guardians lose: Yankees, Red Sox Red Sox win: Guardians, Angels Red Sox lose: Yankees Angels win: Yankees Angels tie: Guardians Angels lose: Red Sox Yankees win: Guardians, Red Sox Yankees lose: Angels Hope this helps.
  2. Negotiating tactic. Who knows for sure? The money would be deferred, minority ownership, etc....all ********. Can't see the Cubs doing it with Zambrano and Soriano all tied up. I still think he ends up staying if the Yankees win the World Series, leaving if they get kicked out of the first round, and flip a coin on the other possibilities. Then again, your guess is as good as mine.
  3. As of 9/23: With the Sox losing to the D-Rays, and the Yankees taking care of business at home, the Yankees are one game behind the Red Sox in the loss column for the division. It's still possible. A tie gives us the division since we win the head to head matchup. Could we complete one of the largest comebacks ever? Stay tuned....
  4. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't mind seeing Molina behind the plate and Posada DHing in the playoffs with Mientkiewicz at first. Having Matsui and Giambi off the bench would be huge. You could pinch hit for the pitcher all day if you lost the DH and not even flinch.
  5. Since May 29th, the Sox are 56-49. A whopping 7 games over .500, for a winning percentage of .533. To put that in perspective, the team that is closest to that winning precentage this year is the Mariners and Rockies. So basically, after that torrid start, you guys have been slightly above average over 107 games. Not exactly something to hang your hat on. Your team had numerous chances to put us away. Many of us, me included, didn't think we had a shot at the division. Our hot play, and your poor play, considering your talent level, has brought us to this point. I think you're better than a .533 winning percentage. If you guys played to your capabilities in the second half, we wouldn't be talking about this.
  6. On May 29th, you guys had a 14.5 game lead. The wild card, although making baseball ultimately more interesting, takes away some from the division races. I think that finishing with the 2nd best record matters a lot more to the Yankees than to the Red Sox, primarily due to Wang. Other than that, it really isn't all that important to either team. The thing that should worry you guys is that your pen is blowing the games. The guys that will be pitching in October are s***ing the bed. What both managers should do is take their top 3 starters out of the game by the 6th inning, and pitch their callups the rest of the way.
  7. I'm serious when I say that 2001 hurt more than 2004. That was not really a very likeable team, and it would have been worse if we lost in extra innings. We were never in game 7, so by the time the game ended, most of us were drunk, saying f*** it. Trust me when I say this. You guys cared a million times more about winning than we did about losing. However, in 2003, I think it killed you guys as much as we loved it. As for the park, I could care less. The one game playoff in 78 would have been the same at home as it was in Fenway.
  8. Weren't these guys the same guys that swept you this week? Just wondering. Can someone check that for me, please confirm it? There are no Joba rules in the post-season. The rules are pretty much done at this point. They were put in there to keep Torre from burning up the kid. With Rivera and Chamberlain, it's basically a seven inning game against the Yankees in the post-season. Hey Red Sox fans...it's the eighth inning....do you know who your set up men are?
  9. Yankees win....theeeee Yankees WIN!
  10. Maybe you guys should think of getting Gagne's dad to watch the game. Or maybe Papelbon's dad when the bases are loaded. a700, the tying runs were on base. I would figure that it was a pretty important moment in the game. You know, tying runs on base, potential winning run at the plate...nah, not a big moment. What were they thinking? That said, they are overdoing the whole Chamberlain and his father thing.
  11. Actually, my statement wasn't 100% correct. In order to win the division, we only have to tie the Sox. So we are only effectively 1 game behind the Red Sox. To beat out the Angels, we have to beat them because they have won the season series from us, so we are effectively 2 games behind the Angels.
  12. Assuming we win today [just for arguments sake], that leaves us one back of the Angels and Red Sox in the loss column. Easily attainable. If we win, that is.
  13. If you guys make it that far.
  14. Dude, easy on the meds. Seriously.
  15. Actually.......there isn't one. I got tired of seeing "Sox eyeing Eckstein" on the main page. For some reason, it was getting on my nerves.
  16. I wonder what Manny is waiting for....Armageddon?
  17. Definitely. Right after Wake pitches in game one for you guys.
  18. If the scores end the way they are, we're back to one in the loss column.
  19. 3-3 game. This team just battles. I hope the Yankees blow the game open, just to rest the pen. I can hope in one hand, crap in the other....we all know which hand will get filled first. Oh well.
