  1. In that case, Pettitte pitched a gem. The Yankees defense could have given Team USA's women's soccer team a game last night the way we were booting the ball last night.
  2. Dice K had nothing last night. It actually was the most impressive game I've seen of him. He battled against the best lineup in baseball with nothing on the ball, and left the game in the position to win the game. He impressed me with his grit last night. His stuff was garbage, but the kid is a gamer. I'm really shocked at this point that you haven't put Matsuzaka in the pen and Buchholz in the rotation. Matsuzaka could rest up a bit in the pen, and at this point in the season, there is no comparison between the two. Tell you the truth, Buchholz is the number 2 in your rotation right now after Beckett. Why he's in the pen makes no sense to me.
  3. From the other side, I disagree. Drew is pretty much an automatic out at this point. If you mistake to Drew, he MAY get a hit. Although your error zone for Pena was much smaller, if you made that mistake, he'd hit it to Canada. From Boston. I was glad to see Pena go, but you had no place for him. Put that guy at DH, he'll hit you 30+ homers every year. It's only four more years of Drew, guys.
  4. Unless you are blindly follow the insane rantings of ORS, then the answer is no. Here's a question for all you Sox fans. Out of the potential playoff teams, us, Guardians, Angels, Tigers....is there any doubt which team you fear the most? We don't match up well against the Angels, you don't match up well against us. Remember, if we tie for the division, we win based on our record against you. We hit your pitching better than you hit ours. Against each other, our closers are a virtual wash, we both beat the crap out of Rivera and Papelbon respectively. The only one who hasn't been hit is Chamberlain, but he will be hit by you. We have a much better offense overall, and much better overall team speed. Pitching is pretty much a wash. No matter what, you can't 86 years of futility with one series. See the 1955 Dodgers. We can't beat the Angels. I don't think you guys have a chance to beat us. The only way we don't make the World Series is if we face the Angels the first round.
  5. If the Yankees had lost, three games in the loss column with a 10 game homestand coming up. Nope, really doesn't mean much. It's nice to bitch-slap the Red Sox as always, but in the overall scheme of things, it doesn't mean much.
  6. Ok, let me make a point...if he brought in Gagne, and Gagne blew it, you all would be clamoring for either Papelbon pitching two innings or leaving Okajima in. Your top two pitchers out of the pen lost. End of story.
  7. Both teams win 99% of the time with a 5 run lead in the 8th. By the way, when is Manny coming back?
  8. Dude, he had Okajima and then Papelbon. Your two best pitchers. Who the f*** is Manny Delcarmen? It's like us whining if you beat Chamberlain and Rivera. Tito didn't do anything wrong, your players s*** the bed.
  9. You're getting a lot of mileage out of 2004. Not like we can't use pretty much every year, 1978,1999,2003, and last year. I've said this before, I'll say it again. You guys don't match up well with us. You make the World Series if we get knocked out. If we face you, you're done.
  10. Too bad this game doesn't mean much overall. Great win for the Yankees, we have now beat the crap out of pretty much everyone in your rotation and bullpen in the last four meetings. We all but gift-wrapped this game for you guys, and you couldn't win it. If we get out of the first round, the Sox are done. We know it, and so do you. You better pray we face the Angels in the first round.
  11. Nice come back win the other day. You know what sucks? This series means almost nothing to both teams. I can't believe it is a September showdown with the Sox with virtually nothing on the line. I can't see the Tigers making up the ground against us, nor us catching you. Should be fun baseball, but really doesn't mean anything in the big scheme of things. We're both in the playoffs in my mind. It's just a matter of who is going to face the Guardians and who is going to face the Angels. We win the first matchup, and the next two are toss ups. Hoping for two out of three for the Yankees.
  12. What a strange series. One run total in game one, 26 in game two. Baseball can never be predicted.
  13. Any team that violates this rule and is caught should lose their first round pick the following year [that is if it is not already traded]. Make the penalty severe enough, and the rule won't be broken.
  14. Lets see how this kid does. He's been staked a big lead, and with the offense behind him, he should not worry. If he starts nibbling instead of going after hitters, he's an idiot.
  15. This game isn't over by any stretch. The Rays pen is atrocious. If the games end the way they are however, we're only three back in the loss.
  16. At the start of play today, 9/11, the Red Sox lead in the loss column is four games. Unlikely...but still possible.
  17. Yanks up by four over the Tigers....looks like the field is pretty much set, with the Yankees, Red Sox, Guardians, and Angels. Now it's just the pairing that matters.
  18. Jay Gibbons doesn't surprise me.
  19. We can't beat the Angels, but we are 6-0 against the Guardians this year.
  20. I put the Rangers in the disappointed list. I also put the Red Sox in the surprised list. I didn't think you guys would be this good.
