  1. 11 mil per season for a guy who doesn't take the bump is a big money contract. And you are telling me that if Buchholz has a single healthy season, that the sox wouldn't look to move him? This is a theoretical argument since the necessary component of staying healthy didn't occur.
  2. You just don't understand logic. It's tragic really. So, let me break things down for you into itty bitty pieces so your tiny little brain can process. Clay Buchholz has proven to be fragile. He's missed time in every one of his seasons and his IP max was 170. He is signed to a big money contract, but when you consider that he's not making 10-15 of his starts a year, that money could be used elsewhere. If Clay had one solid, healthy season, it might push his trade value up to where he'd get a good return on his value before another injury cropped up. He was on his way to a very solid, ace like season last yr. Knowing his history, he wasn't going to be able to sustain that year after year. Had he completed last season with 30+ starts and 200IP, his trade value would have jumped. I think the sox would have sold high on him. But, alas, his shoulder gave way and he couldn't finish, as usual. Now, he's a shell of himself.
  3. I didn't say he was going to be moved last yr. I said they were planning on moving him until he went down with shoulder woes. You don't move your ace mid season. If Buchholz had had a good finish to 2013, he'd have been traded this past offseason. You're a moron
  4. Owens has real deal stuff. There is a reason why he's not rifling through your system. His stuff is top shelf, his command is not. If he cut down on the walks, he'd already be in Boston. Last yr, in his big breakout campaign, he walked 68 in 135IP, good for 4.5BB/9IP. This yr, he walked a total of 2 in his first 2 starts before walking 7 in his last 11IP. If he came to the bigs with that command, he'd be demolished. Reminds me a lot of Andrew Miller. Dominant stuff from the left side, poor repetition of his delivery. The thing with Miller was that he was rushed to the bigs the same year he was drafted and never developed. Take your time with this kid and you might end up getting something special. But counting on him as the replacement for Lester only hastens his development and you risk losing him.
  5. Workman is most likely going to take Buchholz' spot in the rotation should his s*** continue
  6. I think the sox were planning on moving him until he went down with shoulder woes midyear 2013. His stock couldn't have been higher. Now, he's got a shoulder issue and hasn't shown his velocity. He's down to 90.4mph, which is a career low and 1.5mph off last year's pace. Guys with diminished fastball velocity can definitely have significant success, but coupling that with a shoulder injury and lack of bite on his breaking pitches makes me wonder if his shoulder is more injured than initially thought
  7. Clay is a fragile soul, relegating him to the pen could lose him permanently
  8. Chris Sale to the DL. I said in the game thread that letting a pitcher go to 120+ pitches in April is an awful idea and the subsequent arm injury he ensues should be called a "Robin Ventura". Looks like I was right
  9. This is on Buchholz. When your team scores six, you should win
  10. Exactly. And Nova obviously had something wrong. His velo was down and none of his pitches had bite. And like I said before, he's been shelved twice for "forearm" issues which to me, says elbow. I also am interested in deciphering how they knew so quickly that he had a partially torn UCL. They were on the road, it was a night game, and they knew an hour after he left. I wonder if they knew and were waiting for him to start having pain
  11. The Yankees don't wait for prospects. They never have and never will. Given Sanchez' age, your probably looking at him being ready for 2016 on a full time basis. No way they were waiting for a prospect for 2 more seasons at such a critical position. Also, by then, Tex will be in his final season, so they'd be close to gaining some roster flexibility as well. The kid is a top prospect, but they don't wait for them in the bronx
  12. Was he throwing that to the ballboy?
  13. And the O's are officially the Baltimore Clusterf***s. That was as clusterf***y an ending as you can have. LOL all around. Nobody deserved to win that game
  14. It's the right call. Carp should win this. Buck should blame himself on this one. He wanted to pull Ubaldo before Gomes' AB
  15. Right off the kneecap. That hurts
  16. Gigantic clusterf*** for the O's right now.
  17. You walk Papi here.
  18. Which replay are you watching? Live, I thought it was gone, but on replay, it's a double
  19. It was the right call
  20. Nope, it was a double on replay
  21. Nava has an option left. You don't let him go, especially since he has such awesome OBP skills. You send him to AAA to get his s*** together and bring him back when Grady Sizemore injures ______. Fill in the blank
  22. That transfer rule bit the Yanks today too. I don't know why they changed things, that was obviously a catch, but the new rule means all transfers are out
  23. Basically, I noticed the sox always seemed to be trailing early in games, even in games they win. The numbers bear that out. The sox hit better in the last 3 innings and the sox are stingier in the final 3 innings on the mound. It is a strange model thus far to follow
