  1. ND fell off the rails. Pyne still looks like the QB for next year, but this team looks badly in need of a new O coordinator. Predictable plays, too much pressure on the QB
  2. Believe it or not, I thought the Mariners were the worst matchup for the Yanks. They hammered us late in the year with Castillo who entirely owns NY. Gilbert also was very good against NY and Kirby is just nasty. The Astros can be beaten, but gotta win tonight to make that matchup happen. The only problem is the Yanks have Aaron Boone as an anchor they need to carry through these playoffs. Any time the Yanks need to rely on their manager to make the right move, we usually lose out. Especially now that there appears to be no hierarchy in the pen
  3. Astros should have been swept in that series. Verlander got shelled and the M’s tried to close the game with a starter who’d been struggling against the hottest hitter on the planet. Game 2, they didn’t learn their lesson and went after the same hot hitter and got burned again. Game 3, they’re home in an extra inning game and get 9 innings of walk off chances and don’t scratch out a single run?
  4. Craziest thing is, Yanks have badly outplayed the Guardians. Boone’s decision to go to a starter in the 10th backfired in game 2. His decision to try and get 3 innings out of Peralta in game 3 backfired. Civale vs Taillon for all the marbles in the Bronx tomorrow. Huge game.
  5. So Peralta is the closer.... and you bring him in in the 7th inning without a second option in game 3
  6. What the ever living f*** is Boone thinking? If Holmes is a closer, let him close. Don't do this 8th inning or multi inning ********. If he isnt the closer, then why did we use our closer in the middle innings last night?? Honestly, Lou Trivino has been absolute nails since coming to NY AND has a lot of closing experience. If he is the closer, why did he pitch in the 6th last night?
  7. Gerrit Cole is definitely an ace
  8. Bader has been awesome in this PO series. The trade for him did not sink the Yanks
  9. Going to Taillon in the 10th was stupid and then held off on using Holmes when he says he was totally ready to play.
  10. Our starters handed over a lead or tie in all 3 games. Our starters haven’t been the issue
  11. Boone screwed the pooch. Wandy never goes 3 innings. Why now? Holmes only available in an emergency? That was not an emergency? Boone is a f***tard
  12. My hope is the Yanks just walk him if both teams make it there. No point in letting him hit
  13. Why do the Mariners keep pitching to Alvarez?
  14. Cole was not sharp early but found his groove and was very effective. Our decimated pen locked it down. The bats got a couple out of the stadium and Yanks up 1-0. It’s a good day!
  15. Did us a favor. Aroldis has not been a good PO pitcher and he sucked in the regular season. Cut losses
  16. Window has been open since 2017. While they never went below .500, they weren’t contenders from 13-16
  17. I’m saying the Yanks need to sign him. The question of money and whether he’d be an albatross is irrelevant. These long term deals all turn into albatrosses at some point.
  18. Hasn't missed time since 2020 since they fired their training staff
  19. The reality of baseball is taking advantage of windows. Yanks are within theirs. They’ve got the now impact prospects to cheaply build around their core but they cannot afford to lose their core. You spend to keep your windows open. You shed after the window closes. Yanks have to pay the man
  20. Oswaldo Cabrera has acclimated well to the Bronx and is likely in line to start for us in the POs. He started slowly with the Yanks, hitting .190 in his first 18 games. Since that time, he has registered a .287/.367/.551 slash line while playing other worldly defense. Even with his s***** start, he has amassed 1.3WAR in 43 games. His defense has been elite in the OF as well. I know the Yanks were looking for a starting caliber OFer, but I doubt they thought they already had one
  21. And you got jack s*** for it. Spending is worth it when you are talking about a generational talent. Betts and Judge are generational talents. Thing is, Betts was going into his walk year on a team that was heading for the basement. Betts issue was more timing than anything else. If Betts hit FA when the sox were winning the AL East and were title contenders, I do not doubt that Henry would have made every push to sign him. You're running into the same thing now. Xander is a great talent. I wouldn't say generational like Betts, but he is a great Red Sox. If the sox werent doormats this year and staring at another year or two of doormat-dom, then it would be a no brainer. But it makes little sense to sign a 30+ yr old SS with limited range to a huge deal if the first couple years are not going to be successful for the team. If Bogey stays and goes .300/30/100 and the sox win 75 games, it was a waste
  22. Rice got pitched to. Rice got 50 more PAs in 78 than Judge. Judge also walked 53 more times than Rice. Judge has Rice by 83 points in SLG!. Judge's 2022 season is one of the best seasons in major league history. Since 2000, the only players with 10.7 WAR or more are Bonds twice, Pedro and Mookie Betts. Bonds is a roid cheat. Mookie has been awesome and is on a HOF track. Pedro was Pedro. That is it
  23. The Yanks depth is in the minors. Top flight prospects with close proximity. Cannot rely on them yet as regulars, but definitely factor into the conversation as backups for now. Bringing back Judge essentially keeps the band together while giving the Yanks time to groom this next generation. If Judge goes, then all bets are off and you’ve got to upgrade multiple spots to make up for his loss
  24. It’s all gonna depend on Judge. If he walks, then all chips are on the table. If he stays, I think you see an offensive retooling but no other major all star additions. Cabrera, Dominguez, Wells, Peraza, and Volpe will either begin 23 with the big club or make their debuts. No point in blocking them if the offense has the now firepower. For as great a year as the Yanks had, they had some dumb injury luck again that could be mitigated by having competitive depth. DJ’s foot, Stanton’s Achilles, Carp and Beni breaking bones. The first two were overuse issues, which is what you get when you play older, injury prone players every day. But when your backups are the ghost of Aaron Hicks and Starvin Marwin Gonzalez, it’s not like you can take those guys out more than for a quick breather. Add in solid offensive depth and those guys can get into a rhythm of 2 on 1 off and stay fresher.
