  1. Congrats harmony. The drought is over for your boys
  2. They nearly dealt him. The Reds held out for Volpe. While Montas has been an utter disappointment, I think the decision to hold onto Jasson will pay dividends. The kid jumped from A ball to AA and in the playoffs had a near 2.000 OPS and played the whole year as a 19 yr old. He’s got Julio Rodriguez type upside with the chops to stick in CF defensively, the power to hit 30 bombs, the hand eye to hit .300 and the speed to nab 30 bags. Barring injury, he’s almost a sure bet to see some big league time in 23
  3. Casas reminds me of a lefty Jose Canseco. Just a total hulk of a human being. His HR totals as he ages will be massive. His K rates likely will be as well. He is someone you set and forget at 1b. Let him struggle at the big league level and reap the rewards when the sox are ready to rise again
  4. We shall see. I am hoping the Guardians take their first round series so the Yanks can get them with home field and then someone can knock off the Stros
  5. Thank you. Yes they did.
  6. First division title since 2019. Clinch second seed. Bring on the playoffs. After being the best team in baseball for the first 3.5 months, the yanks fell into an insane 6 week slump that saw them drop to the worst team in baseball over that stretch. They’ve responded in September and now cruise into the playoffs winning the toughest division in baseball.
  7. Not mad at it at this point as we need to win one more game and clinch the division. But if this was two weeks ago, I would be furious
  8. We are the Yankees. If we get outbid on someone we truly want, then shame on us
  9. You think Hosmer and Dalbec are better than JD?? I sincerely hope you are right because it will guarantee you another last place finish
  10. If the Yanks short change Judge and he goes elsewhere, there will be consternation beyond belief. I think the Yanks realize he is a must sign player
  11. At this point, I would DFA a bunch of guys who arent in the plans and bring up kids from AAA to see what they have. You gain nothing by playing JD. Xander at least has a batting title to try and win, so he stays out there as a lone bright spot. Heck, I would even shut Devers down and make sure he is healthy for next year
  12. Sox now with the 13th pick in the draft. White Sox only a game behind, the Giants 2 games, and the Twins 3. Sox upside is really only Arizona who are 3 games ahead of the sox in the L column. They really only have ground to lose in the draft at this point
  13. Sox are now out of it. You want them to finish losing their final 10 games and getting a better draft pick. There is no valor in winning late when it doesn't count
  14. I usually work evenings. I listen to EEI on my way home. The announcers have been talking for 2 months about how his lower body seems to be injured. Intermittent limping, etc. It coincided with a deep slump
  15. I am 100% biased. I own that. We all are! Lol. Thank you for the defense
  16. I will very much enjoy watching my team in the playoffs this year. Very much. I cannot wait to watch my team play in the post season. It will be very, very fun
  17. Honestly, I think the sox should deal Devers. And I am trying to look at is through a sox prism. The guy is good, but he wants elite level money. He has also had conditioning issues with his weight as a young player. That will not age well. He tailed off this year because of lower body issues. Also, the sox arent in window. Major extensions are usually with now in mind and the sox now isn't that bright. I deal him off and tie no money to him. I don't do a dead weight Sale contract with him and accept less. I go for nothing but elite level talent for a team thinking they are one player away
  18. challenge the point splinter. Challenge the point.
  19. Follow along young padawan. You are talking about replacing what you lost......from a sub .500 last place team. You should be adding heavily to make a sub .500 last place team relevant. But you are talking about getting back to status quo, lol Maybe McGuire is good next year. Maybe he gets arrested for yanking his crank again. Track record says he is not the player he has been in this incredible small SS. He has a .435BABIP in Boston. He's not for real. Tommy Pham is the bat you've craved all year? The corner OFer with a .718OPS for the sox? Please keep him and start him 140 games next year, please. His WAR in Boston is 0.1. He's awful Eric Hosmer is the worst first baseman in baseball. Has been for two years. You got him for free because he isnt worth anything. Your best bet is Casas shows he is ready and becomes a regular. Other than that, Dalbec and Hosmer suck at a premium offensive position You added prospects who don't move the needle at all yet. You lose a 6WAR SS. Wacha is a 2.1WAR player this year. Strahm and Eovaldi clock in at 1.4WAR total. Hill had 1.4WAR by himself. You are talking losing 11WAR from a LAST PLACE TEAM! You have the following holes for next year that don't have real players on your roster capable of filling them ( I am giving you the benefit of the doubt on 1b thinking Casas might be the guy and considering Kike the starter in CF) Starting catcher Second baseman (Story moves back to SS) Left Field Designated Hitter Ace #2 #3 Closer The incumbents you are bringing back aren't elite beyond Devers. Kike is a good player when healthy. Verdugo a good player. Bello will probably be good next year. Pivetta is a reasonable good back end guy. I am assuming Houck and Whitlock are swing men/setup men next year as well. And I wouldnt count on s*** from Sale or Paxton, any production is a win The FA market is headlined by a few guys I don't expect the sox to get (Turner is a SS and you have one and I don't see Judge leaving NY for Boston). The pitching market is saturated with older, injury prone pitchers who will need enormous AAV's. That isn't Bloom's style. You also have built a better farm but it is not ready to bring in prime time talent. You are stuck exactly where nobody wants to be, in the middle. By not selling off, you didnt improve that position. And you are in the best division in baseball with multiple teams on the upswing who have better big league talent AND better near big league ready premium talent
  20. Opportunity will present itself to him. It will be up to him whether he takes it or not
  21. Trends are important too. They fired their strength and conditioning team after 2020 and he's responded with two very durable years. But yes, he will eventually be an injury prone DH as every player eventually becomes. The reason why the Yanks need to sell out for him is that they are in window. Their pitching is set up strong for next year and their lineup needs him as a stabilizing force as there is some youth coming through. He is worth more to NY as well because he thrives there, while many players shrink in the pinstripes. I said before he doesn't see $300 mil. I was wrong. He should easily surpass that as the Yanks have no choice but to pony up for him
  22. Can probably close this thread. Sox 2022 season dead and buried. GM didn't sell off pieces. Sox looking to crater further for next year. Thread closed
  23. That is because both of them have huge holes in their swing yet continue to avoid adjustments and wait for mistakes.
  24. That's a pretty ignorant quote and you know it. 148 games is a whole shitload of games. He's done 155, 148 and 148 in 3 of his six years. One of his years was a covid year (where he missed 20 games in admittedly), but in full seasons, he has crossed 140 games 60% of the time
  25. It’ll be more than brief. 2023 doesn’t line up well either. The market is not there to splurge and make major changes.
