  1. Actually, I think he could be a Yankee next year. Donaldson comes off the books and with Stanton being so hit or miss, the Yanks need a Robin to Judge’s Batman.
  2. The Japanese OFer May end up as a DH. He’s all bat, no glove. So Brantley may not be a great choice. I saw the question earlier about this being a good or bad off-season so far. You theoretically replaced JD’s production with the OF from Japan. You lost a 6WAR SS who was a stalwart for your club for awhile and have not replaced him. You’ve lost Eovaldi and have not replaced him. And those are losses from a last place team. It’s not like we are dissecting a title winner here. This has been an awful off-season if your goal was to win in 2023, and there are no two ways about it
  3. With the market going berserk now that covid losses are in the rear view mirror, what do you think Devers gets on the open market? I think Devers will ultimately sign for a 13 year $390 mil deal with an opt out at year 4.
  4. Devers value due to his age is higher than anyone who hit the market this year. He won’t hit Judge’s AAV, but he might get 12-13 years
  5. Sox lost the Bogey derby by over $100 mil. What makes anyone think the Sox will be anywhere close to the final winner of the Devers derby?
  6. Judge and Xander are different categories. Judge is eventually gonna fade into DH duties or he can hide in RF, but his bat will carry (until the POs). Xander had a ridiculously high BABIP and a massive drop in power. But he’s a middle infielder whose value is best at that spot. Pushing him to 3b or DH duties dramatically drops his value. And to guarantee into the 40s is dumb
  7. This might be the dumbest contract in sports.X had his warts. He bumped up his D in 22, but he’s been a dog in that area in the past and he’s 30. Not like that’s gonna stay. He also saw an alarming loss of power. Now he goes to SD, where you don’t hit homers due to park factors and they’re paying him til he’s 41 yrs old. This never made sense for the Sox to do. Sox aren’t in window. They’re about to see their other franchise piece walk and they’re not at the cusp of bringing up a core of talent again. I don’t blame Bloom here. If anything, it makes it pretty clear that Devers is walking and I’d deal him now
  8. Is there any doubt now that Devers will get $300mil?
  9. Imagine what this means for Devers
  10. This is a good move actually. The one thing that is missing in major league baseball is contact, and this guy has it in spades. It’s not a tremendously cost prohibitive move, but the upside is there. Sox aren’t really expected to be very good this year, so if he becomes a flop, it doesn’t really change much. If he turns into a foundational piece for the team, they got him on the cheap and they can build around him
  11. Very strange indeed. He gets a Marquis closer at advanced age at market rate. Seems to go against everything that bloom stands for.
  12. That's the issue. We continue to beat the same old drum and expect a different sound.
  13. Biggest contract in baseball history for a large man. He is my favorite player, but I thought we could do more with the money. He disappears in the POs and on this team, he needs help. And this contract does not allow the Yanks to offer that. While I am glad he will retire a Yankee, I do not think this makes us better, probably the contrary
  14. Judge's issues are when he struggles offensively, he is an autoK. Mookie puts the ball in play, moves runners, steals bases, etc. He can impact the game in different ways on offense. Whereas Judge just strikes out and that hurts.
  15. I agree on manager and GM
  16. What is Bloom doing? He’s acting like a guy trying to get fired. Sox need pitching and they need to replace JD and Bogey. All they’ve done is sign a s***** lefty in Joely and a reasonably good but elderly reliever in Martin. I’m not sure what Bloom’s plan is, but he’s working with the urgency of a guy who thinks he’s got a safe job
  17. 172 PO AB’s, .210 BA, .772OPS. You’re not really at a small sample size anymore. That’s 1/4 of a regular season Either way, I don’t doubt Judge’s greatness and he’s probably my favorite player in the game today. If Hal wasn’t tied to the cap as tightly as he is, I’d love to have him back at any cost, but knowing Hal’s history, bringing him back at his cost will not help the team. We’ve lost in the POs with him. Might be time to change it up
  18. Not turning on Judge at all. But if we are gonna play to a budget, then $40 mil a year for a guy who’s never done anything in the POs is a good way to have a bad team. IF Cash gets a blank check, then bring in Judge and more. We need more than one position improved
  19. If Judge walks, you sign Conforto on a pillow contract and bring on Correa. Maybe you bring on Bogey too as the 2b and flip Torres for some pitching or move him to 3b
  20. Here’s my issue. We’ve seen Judge in the POs for 6 years. Every time the POs come around, the guy is an easy out. Good pitching has always shut him down. Now good pitching shuts a lot of people down, but for the MVP and leader of your team, you gotta be better. The problem with 2022 Yanks was the offense was Rizzo for half a year and Judge for the whole year and basically nobody else, so losing Judge will be a big blow. But we essentially lost Judge in the ALCS. Our pitching is really good. Our pen should be healthier and has some reinforcements in the minors. It’s our offense that’s terrible and needs to improve. Either we bring along the kids or we add to the lineup, but if our plan was to add Judge and call it a day, then that’s a losing plan. I’d much rather see us being in two great players that will lengthen the lineup than re-sign our one and watch us bow out again in the ALCS
  21. I don’t. I think a fresh look is better
  22. Let him go then. 9-$360 mil is insane. Sign Nimmo and Correa and lengthen our lineup
  23. Cashman has ensured the Yanks make the playoffs every year and build a decent to good farm system to deal from or promote. He went for it this year, but again only half assed and ended up with an injured starting pitcher, an injured reliever and a soon to be injured contact hitter. Rolled snake eyes. My issue is he leaves holes EVERY YEAR at the beginning of the year that we need to backfill at the deadline with prospect capital. Spend big one off season, fill all holes and then let the kids fill in when they are ready
  24. Yanks again looking to the Pirates for trade help. Brian Reynolds would be a great pickup, but I shudder at what the price will be. 3 yrs of an all star caliber OFer whose true 5 tool at arb pricing is not cheap to acquire. Yanks prior pickups from Pitt had their warts. Holmes wasn’t good before we got him. Taillon had come off TJS. But Reynolds is prime and coming off another solid year. I would not deal Volpe for him, but it’d likely start with Peraza and maybe Dominguez. I’d rather we just sign Conforto and stop being f***ing cheap
  25. 8-300 for Judge. That’s impressive
