  1. And slav thought he’d be part of a dynamic platoon capable of OPSing .775
  2. And if you wait til they got good in their prearb years, then the price rises so dramatically and the length gets so long that it’s probably better off to go year to year and reevaluate your needs that way
  3. For every Salvy Perez there’s 10 Jon Singletons. Signing prearb players to long term deals is a fools errand for a large market club. Let me show you why. A small market club can get away with signing pre-arb players to deals. If the player doesn’t pan out, the organization can cry poor and suck and most people don’t care. They don’t have a fan base anyway. If they hit, then they can extend their extremely short window and go for it for a year or two. It’s the way a bad organization can get good For the big money clubs, the expectation is you compete every year. So if you sign a Triston Casas to a long term extension and he sucks, then he’s a drag on the balance sheet while you still try to compete. He may hinder you for years to come as you need to feed your fan base a winning product.
  4. Sox need to deal Devers. It’ll help them long term since they’re gonna lose him for 24 anyway
  5. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST. Bloom notes keeping Devers is the organizations "FIRST PRIORITY". This is code for we are trading you. When will it go down, any predictions?
  6. Bloom has done wonders for the MiLB system, but not because he’s added tremendous talent, mostly because he has had a bad team that allowed for a high pick and he’s not trading away his diamonds in the rough. Mayer is special and you only get a guy like that when you suck. But he made a MASSIVE error in not tearing down at the break. Massive. He knew they weren’t gonna keep Bogaerts. He knew he wasnt gonna try and keep Eovaldi. What’s the point of them playing out a string and getting a 4th rounder for them?
  7. I think they need to swing Schmidt and German into the swing role that King used to occupy. We shall see. I have a feeling they’re gonna be bringing in some serious talent for the OF
  8. Yanks playing with the big boys now. That’s a hell of a rotation, gotta add to the offense now
  9. For the rate that pitchers have been going for, that’s not bad. Cole Rodon Cortes Sevy Montas That’s a dominant 1-5
  10. The money would have mattered if the Sox used it rather than pocketed it.
  11. It’s advantageous to Devers to sign for big money now. No real 3b’s are on the market now that Arenado re-upped. While he won’t have the luxury of weighing offers against other teams, he can almost direct where he’s traded to by dictating terms of his next contract. Next year, he won’t even be the best 3b on the market as Machado is expected to opt out. This may take one suitor (probably NY) out of the picture and NY drives prices behind them. I think Raffy plays this with a trade demand, the Sox are handcuffed by where Raffy wants to go and what he wants to make but still get a nice haul of prospects.
  12. Yoshida offers a rare skill set that is worth a lot if it translates to the bigs. Also, he’s at an AAV that isn’t prohibitive and if he truly does hit well, it’ll be a bargain. I think for where the Sox are in terms of windows, this is a smart move
  13. Sox are doing the rebuild 101 off-season plan. They’ll swoop in now and buy low on short term deals for guys they can spin off at the deadline. Even the Jansen signing is one that could be spun off at the deadline. You guys do realize the Sox are trending to be horrible next year, right?
  14. Sox are gonna be a 70 win team selling off parts at the deadline. They might as well deal Devers. Bloom is hoping sale can put together a good first half so he can be sold off too
  15. There was a report that Rodon had agreed. Clearly it was mistaken.
  16. Sox have been willing in the past to go all in and it paid off. Yanks never go all in anymore. We used to
  17. Yanks are closing in on Rodon 4 yr $118 mil with player option for year 5 and mutual option for year 6.
  18. Yoshida is an unknown. I like the signing for the Sox, but he could end up as a total flop. The idea that Dalbec and Hosmer would replace JD’s production is absolutely laughable. You know it and I know it. Hosmer is done. Bobby D has been figured out and he cannot adjust. You don’t know if you’re gonna get a healthy Kike. You put Sale and Paxton as your 1-2. They made a total of 2 starts last year and have a history recently of being on the shelf. That’s not a good start. You are trying to avoid the obvious here. Sox sucked last year. Sox lost a ton of talent. Sox didn’t replace said talent. Sox will suck again
  19. So you think the sox are gonna be better than last year without Eovaldi, JD and Bogey?
  20. Your team sucks and will suck for awhile. The comparisons are laughable.
  21. One thing I love is the Mets are loading up and saying FTW to the cap. This makes the Yanks look cheap in their own city. Hal may not have a choice but to go all in
  22. You’re right. We are down Taillon from last year. Rodon would be a great add. Lefties in YS have a good track record due to Death Valley. The problem is, we need offense. We are status quo from last year except we are plus Bader. I’d rather hear we signed Correa than nab a pitcher. We’re set at the top 3 spots. Cole, Cortes and Sevy are a hell of a top 3. If Montas is truly healthy, that’s a great 1-4. German or Schmidt can handle 5-6 and we’ve got Warren in the wings as good MiLB depth. If they wanted to sign a #5 for short money, I’m game. Rodon would be a hell of a luxury. But we’ve got an all star who has foot problems in Lemahieu who is likely gonna have to be a half time starter. We have IKF who can’t hit his way out of a paper bag. We’ve got Donaldson who went from a bomber to a guy swinging a pool noodle. Right now, Hicks is slated for LF and he can’t hit either. Torres spent the first half looking like vintage Torres and spent the last half reminding us of what he’s become. Stanton was a shell of himself after his injury. Maybe he rebounds, maybe he doesn’t. Rizzo is mid 30s. So our lineup is Rizzo, Judge and ????. Bader was a nice add but he’s not typically a great hitter. We’ve got prospects and Cabrera who can all hit, but if you’re putting together a title team, you cannot rely on rookies to carry you. We need more.
  23. Senga made too much sense for the Sox. Sox are trending to be absolutely abysmal this year. I knew they were rebuilding, but I’d have expected something more than an overpaid Japanese outfielder and an old man closer. Sox don’t appear to be in on Rodon. Maybe they re-up Eovaldi? It’s trending to be a very bad year in the Bean. And when the hockey and basketball teams are really good and the Sox aren’t, they lose viewership and you know how much Henry cares about that. It would not surprise me at all to see Bloom add more minor league pieces, get fired at end of 23 and have the Sox hire a DD type to start spending prospect capital for good players. Personally, I think they should stick with Bloom until the new core comes up and see how he manages fitting pieces around them
  24. Rumors swirling that Yanks aren’t done with big acquisitions yet. Rodon on their radar
  25. Depends on what he wants done. If Henry wants a team thats unencumbered by salaries with a renewing font of minor league talent, then Bloom is the right guy. You just gotta let him rebuild the club. Boston doesn’t tolerate a rebuild. That’s the issue
