  1. Burnett hasnt been as good as i thought he'd be for ny this year however he has given them a lot of innings and remained healthy, how this translates into october remains to be seen. I do know the sox are looking forward to seeing him, hes been a soft target in Fenway. In any event the Yanks picked a guy up who traditionally pitched well against them and seems to have a good future in front of him pitching with an offense capable of giving him solid support each time out....
  2. Roid users need some time to come back when they quit their cycles entirely. We have seen this syndrome end or even destroy careers, Arod will need more time due to his hip
  3. The bottle of maalox and the tube of anusol that i have used regularly since the 86 series. i do have the 04 teams signature on a ball thats in a glass case that i gave my son and a giant FenwayPark replica ashtray that's pretty cool and I use it as a candy dish.
  4. NY is easily the best team on paper this summer but they have some concerns of their own. 1 sabby is the arod of october pitching 2 burnett has an era approaching 20.00 in boston 3 chamberlain is a threat to breakdown at any given time. 4 arod will probably have to have an rbi for them to win a series NY is the favorite to win it all and the # keeps going up on them every day. they have played the best baseball of any team i have seen this year and the addition of Phil Hughes really bolstered their bullpen when it appeared that would be their downfall. the addition of Tex has made their defense better and he's pounding the snot out of the ball. Jetsey is hitting .330, Shemp Matsui is hitting the ball again and their role players have performed very well, have they peaked too early? Will Sabbathia gag another playoff series away? Will Joba Chamberlain finally admit that his mother and father are brother and sister? Can Andy Petite keep pitching lights out thru the stretch run and into October and finally will Arod do anything in the post season to remotely justify his 27M a year salary? Its hard not to like the Yankees chance of winning it all but the only sure thing we know is nothing is certain in this, the only game where the defense puts the ball into play.
  5. There are exceptions to just about every rule, for every CC Sabathia there are 10 Rich Garces.
  6. Based on his age he still has time to salvage his career but his work ethic is putrid. MLB ball players shouldnt have slabs of backfat and huge jowels.
  7. If you truly want to be annoyed stay next to a Margaritaville Bar in the Caribbean. I recommend this for people considering suicide, this will put you over the top. I dont think there's anything worse than hearing"" Cheeseburger in Paradise"" 3xs an hour on an island that doesnt serve cow meat or waking up to ""Yes I am A Pirate"" after drinking a half gallon of Wray and Nephew overproof rum with a sunburnt skull, toasted lungs, a bloody nose and a 250Lb hooker named Tiny in your room demanding a ride to Savannah La Mar. I have long felt that Parrot Heads are an offspring of Nambla.
  8. I cant believe believe Penny is only 31 as he resembles Brendan Gleason in the face and body. His tools are still there, the man was consistantly hitting the 95-96 range on Friday and his curve ball was dropping off the table, why cant he get anyone out? The begining of the year he was able to go 6 innings even if he got rocked but now you see him laboring by the 2nd inning of each start. You hate to give up on a guy this young who still throws hard but if he isnt interested in getting in shape what are we to do other than can his ass...He too will go to a national league team and be dominant as all the AL cast offs seem to do these days.
  9. How about 45 RBI and a .260 average a week away from September? Those #s make Todd Walker look like Ryan Howard. Sorry,I forgot that those stats are meaningless to the guys who read Moneyball. When Billy Beane wins something rather than dedicating his services to the elderly I'll buy the book. Until then its got more fiction in it than a Steven King novel. The consensus here is split but if I needed an RBI in the 9th of a tie game Id rather see Ortiz up with a guy on 3rd with 1 out than this guy.
  10. 5 tool? I would be happy with 2 on an every day basis. Being a **** means he doesnt play every day, the man is a walking estrogen tablet. I bet his tits are bigger than my wifes. StLouis, Atlanta and LA all let him walk away as playoff contenders, lets not get into semantics. they didnt want him period bottom line end of story and these are solid organizations not to be confused with Miami and Kansas City. Although Atlanta has fallen from the scene StLouis and LA are serious contenders today and StLouis was then. They let this phenom walk with no counter offers and no worries. You say he was too expensive for LA yet they signed .220 hitting Andruw Jones for more money and just reupped Manny for 45M more? Frank McCourt may have money issues today and his nephew is going to jail for billing out scab labor at journeymans wages but he aint worried about his next dime, trust me, his financial statements are in my desk and I have met the guy several times before he bought the Dodgers.. His money makes John Henry look like the cup holder for the Salvation Army. Heres where you lose me RBI are an insult to our intelligence?.... ive never heard it put that and i never heard the word clutch be refered to as meaningless and irrelevent. I would suspect the rest of the baseball world would agree. these guys arent robots, inspite of their appearence, they do feel pressure. I love arguing baseball so I'll play until my MIS department shuts me out for the day. You can have your walks and your OBP, myself and 30 other GM's prefer 30Hr 100rbi seasons. When Billy Bean puts together a winning program then I'll pay attention to the other ********. Do you know of any other team in Baseball that offered JD Drew a contract after he left 12M on the table in Los Angeles? I dont and no one ever tried to drive the price up and Drew never sought another team out. I do believe the signing of JD Drew was instigated by Borass to give us an inside track to DiceK. If Im correct then I dont mind the move since every single expert said DiceK was the best avaiable pitcher on the market that offseason and Drew was approaching his prime years and had under achieved since he pulled an Elway and told Philly to f*** off as a #1 draft pick I didnt like him but thought hed be productive in what was at the time the best O in the game. Now play with me here if you would. I want civil discourse and mean no disrespect as we're after the same thing I think. Have you ever have a dinner at home with all the relatives and the extended family? Im half irish and half sicilian so in my house all the adults are at the big boy table but there arent enuff chairs for all of them. So we take the crazy aunt who pisses herself, the uncle who drinks 2 qts of whiskey and then goes out to get another half gallon and later at night he brings in an arseral of weapons he wants to show your kids ,the crazy aunts illegitimate son who is a spoiled brat and survived by giving handjobs to the older Gay neighbor who was his Cub Scout leader and inherited his millions after the aids virus took him from his career as an architecht in Soho and cousin Marias husband Jack, who is perpetually unemployed but just bought an Armani suit and showed up in a Mercedes SUV and of course all the children aged 3-16. The 2nd crowd goes out onto the porch to eat in the table your grandfather used to beat Arthur Breslin with during the McLain McLaughlin wars of the 60s..... Now if this were a GM's meeting where would Theo sit and what character would he be. If this were a table of ballplayers where would Drew sit and what character would he be. I been doing this analogy for 20 years while transplanting players and Gm's so please humor me. its an August Friday and Im ball deep in paper work and may not get to respond but I promise a return to this arena at some point this evening to get your feelings on this matter and maybe what possess's you to think that RBI and Cluth hitting are meaningless in your eyes.
  11. The man has all the passion of a 10.00 bronx whore turning trix the night before rent is due. thats half the problem, his image of a robot. the other issues arise from the man not playing as if he were a track star. thats the other half of his image problem, hes a ****. I dont give a s*** what his name is, i root for the name on the front, not the back. He is a disappointment, he was a disappointment wherever he's played and this isnt debatable. All i care about as far as this cheese dick is concerned is what he can do for us from here on out. His 45rbi dont cut it in the 5 hole so whats the argument about? Theres a thread here to DFA Ortiz and hes got 25 more RBI in his worst season ever. DFA Ortiz but Drew is God? Do you guys jerk off with sandpaper mittens too? s***, evidently I missed out on the glue huffing session that occured here recently. In any event and in all honesty and sincerity Drew needs to get focused on bringing us to the playoffs on his back. we cant afford his candy ass efforts down the stretch, we cant afford his days off and we need his f***ing bat more than ever and thats a horrifying feeling for us who have watched this guy get tossed around by perennial contenders his entire career. StLouis LA and Atlanta all let him walk without thinking twice. Aint it strange to see all these genious GM's passing on a talent like Drew? I forgive everyone but I forget nothing. Heres hoping his s*** is together for this weekend after a great evening last night and heres hoping he has a hot 2 months because this club is starved for his power game to improve down the stretch or we can say goodbye to another year that coulda been.
  12. What year did Drew play in 150 games? Drew makes Manny Ramirez look like Lou Gherig for chrissakes
  13. 2008? look at his entire career, never not once has he played in as many games as johnny damon has. You would think thats impossible for a guy who plays a similar position. I can live with the 2/3 of a season he plays if he produces but this year for whatever reason he hasnt. Last year he had one of the best months ive ever seen a boston player have and he essentially carried our team for 6 weeks but then he disappeared sort of like a kid with autism, 1 day hes shining bright then the next day he's off in his own world. Ya the obp is there and thats nice but a 5 hitter needs to drive in runs, especially when 3 of the 4 guys hitting in front of you are hitting .300 or close to it. Maybe the lack of a defined role in the batting order plays a part in his inconsistancy? i cant figure this guy out but i dont see how a guy in that clubhouse can walk by a schilling or a lowell or a lester and say ""cant go today fella's i tweaked my quad running down that fly ball last night"" what does that do to the clubhouse moral? maybe nothing but maybe it takes the sense of urgency out of a couple of guys....4-4 last night with 2runs and 3rbi? just maybe the light went on just in time for this weekend...Andy Petitte, 1-0 with a 1.19 era in his last 3 starts against brad penny who has won 1 game in his last 10 starts and the game is at a pickem...Ny's lefties wont have the luxury of that hurricane vaccum in the bronx that turns warning track flies into upper deck Hr's but they are on fire, hard not to like them this evening and tomorrow against DiceK lite... Sunday Beckett goes and i suspect that will be the only game the sox will be favored in. We need 2 of 3 to maintain self respect.
  14. Yet he has more hrs than any other al player in the last 10 weeks, he isnt the same as he was 2 years ago but hes still our best option for power from the port side. He still makes Steinbrenner s*** his diapers every time NY sees him. the drooling felon who now wears the medically prescribed short bus, blue helmet bites down hard every time the big man is up with money on the table.
  15. Ya Buck has certainly made his case for being the 3rd man in this rotation, Wake is traditionally shaky in the cooler weather and DiceK doesnt appear to be capable of pitching this summer. The way the young guy has manned up against the class of the league is very impressive and hes not leaving the rotation unless hes hurt.
  16. He's battling depression, something every resident in Massachusetts and every member of that 78 team has done once or twice, thankfully drugs and alcohol has cured a lot of us. I dont know if he can sway this teams destiny by coming back this year but it cant hurt to have him back for Fridays game. There will be no homer hankies on Friday, there will be no rally monkies Friday, there will be no hotdogs racing linguica's and brauts on Friday but there will be 36,000 people with a common purpose and I suspect these people will be very receptive of the little guy from Somerset coming back from a disease that has hit probably every single person in the ballpark once or twice. Lynda Billyboy works out with Eck over here at Golds gym,he claims hes hung like a church mouse and he spends 45 minutes on his hair after he showers, of course Billy likes to prance around all the locker rooms in town bare assed showing off the tatoo of his mom and his pierced scrotum.
  17. for the past 10 weeks the man found his power yet he's still pressing at the plate as if he were trying to make the team as a rookie, he needs more patience while I think Drew needs to be more aggressive to improve our offense. its safe to say without his hrs and rbi we would be looking up at Tampa and Texas this morning, outside Martinez the left side of our order is very weak and we have nothing in Rhode Island that indicates this will improve in the future.. I take it Chris Carter is a nothing or we'd have seen him by now and Lars Anderson is playing his way out of baseball hitting a mighty .240 against AA pitchin while slugging my sister in laws weight..
  18. Damon played his ass off here and continues to be an effective offensive weapon. He has lost a step or 2 and is now a liability in the field but he is a pain in the ass to pitch to. If he hits 35hrs we can honestly say that Yankee stadium is a f***ing joke and makes steroid abuse seem trivial in comparison?...
  19. We do have 10 guys who can play 1st already but I always liked Huff, a very low key guy that puts up consistant #s year after year. Its sort of reminds me of when Lou Gorman passed on Willie McGee because we had no place to play him so the best team in the league which at the time was Oakland grabbed him up and went onto bury our asses twice, in 88 and 90 to win the pennant. I havent given up on this year and still like our chances to overcome Texas and Tampa for the wild card but Id like to see a little more fire and urgency. We are playing flat and have developed a team character much like that of Jason Bay and JD Drew, quiet pro's who to me are emotionless robots and wouldnt flinch if you stuck a hot poker up their asses..They need a clubhouse fist fight, they need to get Arod involved in this somehow this weekend, they need a reason to love each other and play the game with so much more intensity that when they wakeup in the morning they want to punch their grandmothers in the f***ing kidneys, they need to hate losing a little bit more.. There are too many men on this club underachieving without caring as far as im concerned.
  20. Quick, check Tlev out, he's calling for Theos head and this must be addressed. We wont put up with anyone who isnt willing to scrub Theo's taint with a soft bristled tooth brush and a warm soapy wash cloth. The full force of the administration will be brought down upon you for being negative, how dare anyone question Mr Epstein after he just landed us Brian Anderson Paul Byrd and AGon.
  21. Since we traded Nomar and brought Cabrerra in we have down graded the position every single year since and have paid some huge #s, 1 year of Renteria cost us essentially 19M after we paid his salary for eternity, he hit.270 with 30+ errors... Congratulations Edgar, you're at the head of Theo's shortstop class. We went into the season knowing it was Lowrie and Lugo, we knew already that Lugo sucked and Lowrie was a future platoon player and we did nothing about improving that spot other than bringing in Nick Green....Great effort by the front office on this slot.
  22. Him and his 45 rbi are a huge disappointment, who wouldve figured if this guy stayed healthy he'd still be considered a f***ing douchebag? Put him im the same bracket with DiceK and Matt Clement. Limited success that prevents me from completely hating the guy but plenty of disappointment to make this another boner by Lord Theo.70/5 was a # that nobody else would ever approach and I still believe it was a gift from the sox to Scott Borass to get the inside track on Matsusaka.. Theres a reason hes played on so many teams in his relatively short career.
  23. Anyone who's mama named him Cla has some issues that go beyond baseball. He sucked here yet amazingly enough he found success in the NL West pitching in Petco.
