The idea that these guys are done winning is absurd, simply absurd. MJ quit busting balls I'll drop a dime and tell the authorities what you asked my son to do for you at the hospital for a lollipop. and did i mention that Howard Bryant left his wife and children for a man about 12 years ago? The only balls Howard Bryant should be writing about are the ones that pound his chin.

5m? I knew it was short money but that's just unreal. We gave Penny and Smoltz 5M each to keep us from winning the division. Thats not entirely fair but man i always liked abreau and he has given the angels a little more swagger than theyve had in the past, you just knew Paps wasnt getting him out in the 9th with the game on the line...f***,after the 7th inning i thought we were going to come back and win this thing. What can you say after a year like this? Full houses every night, a battle tested team with the pitching and a lot of guys who can rake looking to become the team of the decade just couldnt get it done. Usually I go into a month long depression over something like this but there's been something missing on this team since Manny left, call it swagger call it lack of muscle but I just cant figure out how guys like Lackey and Weaver can stick it up our asses like they did on back to back nights and then yesterday our 0.00 era closer couldnt seal the deal... Youk makes a f***ed up play at 1st in the 8th,Guerrero beats us with his liner to center and there were the bad hops and lack of big hits and consistancy that got us finally in the end. Hang in there men, it aint as bad as it looked. With the young arms that Theo has drafted and the current staff we have we can expect more October baseball next year and thats almost a certainty. We need to make a few moves to get some offense, maybe restructure the power game and concentrate more on producing runs with some more speed? This teams future is as solid as any team in the league,Bucholz showed us yesterday that he is a stud in the making and with 1 more year of Becks Lester Bckhlz and DiceK we're going places even if Im hitting cleanup next April.

Ya gotta give it up to the Angels and the Yanks, both were somewhat tested and both came back from being down a couple runs in the 9th and swept up.I like the Angels pitching a lot more than Minnesota's but with Arod Jetsey and Tex hitting on all cylinders now they got their hands full. How much is Bobby Abreu making?
-
Gotta giv it up to the yanks bullpen and arod this evening. Some young guys stepped up and stared into the fire and didnt blink. Joe Nathan continues to blink in that inferno every October but thats Minnesotas problem. after staring down at a tied series and with the bronx faithful?? booing for 75% of the game these guys battled back and just made my October mortgage payment and a week in Miami Springs come November. Its been a pretty good playoff so far for yours triuly and I think a lot of demons are going to be exorcised by this team when its all said and done in a couple weeks. Peteys pitching in Coors tomorrow and I need a new car. Congrats **********s, i think this is the year for NY and Im banking on it.

Without the man Nys bullpen becomes a mystery at this stage of the season

How many times is Joe Nathan going to cornhole Gardinhier and the Minneappolis/StPaul area in October against these guys? Oct 09 06:05 PM INTERNET / -1 Oct 09 02:39 PM MLB NY YANKEES -310 3100 / 1000 f***ing gaggers Stevie Wonder saw that coming

I dont think he gets bashed for his meaningless hits as much as he gets bashed for not playing in pain and his bloated contract. He is perceived as a **** with no balls or heart. Thats not just my perception but the perception of just about every f***ing human being who lives 200 miles outside boston. The man has had some huge hits for us since his arrival, he can add a lot of offense to this team that looked more desperate than a Bernie Madoff invester yet the manager has him hitting 8th? That in itself frightens me, has Tito lost it or is there something magical about hitting in front of Alex Gonzales? This is a pathetic effort but good pitching beats good hitting most of the time... Jacoby Ellsbury CF 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .000 Dustin Pedroia 2B 4 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 .250 Victor Martinez C 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 .000 Kevin Youkilis 1B 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 .000 David Ortiz DH 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 3 .000 Jason Bay LF 3 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 .333 Mike Lowell 3B 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .000 J.D. Beckett has the rep as a money guy, he has 2 rings but his actualy overall #s arent all that inspiring. We shall see what he has tonight, its put up time and this is when he usually shines with the exception of last years pennant series against Tampa. I like Becks tonight, i think he sticks it up their ass.
-
Any reason Tito had him hitting 8th last evening? He was a spark in September, an 8th slot for a guy with his OPB#s is a slap in the face. it isnt like he's arodesque in the playoffs
-
Id like to blame Phil Kessels absence for this but I cant. The nightmare vs DC and last nights humiliating effort are a f***ing embarassment. I watched Ovechkin come in from the top of the face off circle and go thru Lucic as if he wasnt even there to score, the problem there was Lucic was playing behind the guy outfront and got shanghai'd from behind, he was completely oblivious to the best player on ice 10 feet behind him. They sucked, its early on and we know this but come on, the goalie looks like he's in the methadone program and the defense is shaky at best. They make a huge stride forward last year then get bounced by Carolina easily. This year they're all a year older and the youngsters have more experience yet theyre coming out of the gate with a blaise attitude and uninspired play.

I hate Jeremy Jacobs more than just about anything outside of NY

Tuff call here, if it were in Los Angeles id go with Clay just to keep the 10,000,000 NewEnglanders awake come midnite, Dicek has been pitching well and Clay had a good 2nd half too. Id go with DiceK i guess, experienced as he is under fire

Lets put things in perspective for a moment and please, nobody wet themselves over this. Its a public forum for Sox fans to exchange ideas, points of view and to have civil discourse and obviously we dont want to slight JD Drew after he played 137 games. I think hes better than average defensively in right field but there are other guys out there that did better offensively..Ichiro easily, thats obvious. Bobby Abreu had 103 rbi this year for 1/3 of JD Drews salary, has a cannon for an arm too. Nick Swisher hit 29/82 with an obp of .371 for NY and had some huuuuge hits this year. Id take Markakis over him all day every day,hes simply better than Drew. Id take Brad Hawpe over him Jason Werth without a doubt is better than him, Ryan Ludwick is performing better than Drew Hunter Pence is right in the mix as well and hes 8 years younger. I dont want to continue this list because its time for coffee. So.... 14,000,000.00 is enuff respect for jd drew and compared to these guys hes a f***ing thief and a rapist. He had been labeled the leagues biggest underachiever by S/I's 380 interviews with MLB players, not me and the other sox fans but MLBs own players. that tag has been removed and he has dropped down to the 4th biggest underachiever. Tommy Paradis boy, Willie Mo Pena now holds that crown. 1. Wily Mo Pena 2. Daniel Cabrera, Triple-A 3. Elijah Dukes, Nationals 4. J.D. Drew, Red Sox 5. Mike MacDougal, P, Nationals Is there a more painful indictment than being disrespected by the men who play the game with you? Forget about the #s for a moment. many here dismiss b/avg and rbi as meaningless stats,I suspect those people are vegetarians. Lets get to the real crux of the publics distaste in this man,the real reason he isnt loved here. The truth is his past tenderness will keep him on a lot of s*** lists for eternity, theres no gettin around it. He can win a lot of hearts here if he plays well this October and maybe does something dramatic late in a game. 50 years from now every Sox fan will still know who Bernie Carbo is. Will they remember David Jonathan Drew and will those memories be sweet or sour? He doesnt compare that well statistically with the other right fielders, is this really debatable? I think not but I have come around with this guy as he played very well in Septemebr and hes going into October very warm. Its time for him to rise above all the negative vibes and come out swinging this week. A little more aggression at the plate would make me happy, more power would really pump my gnads. With the Angels loaded heavy from the Port side he's going to have his hands full but his faith in Jesus should propel him above the difficult matchups and into Sox legend status this very fall.

Im happy for Mike Singletary and the 49ers organization. Crabtree is a stud in the making but all this time away from the pads and coming into an unknown system is going to hurt his early development. this man does have the physical skills to overcome a lot of the above but wideouts usually take a little more time to develop than the backs do. When he sees his 1st 6'3 225lb safety trying to decapitate him he'll realize that this isnt the big 12. The 49ers are interesting and are a last second 30 yard td away from being undefeated, i like their chances to go deep into the NFC playoffs.

Tito rested Drew in game 2 of the season for precautionary reasons. this guy would go missing for 4 weeks with a "'strained quad"" or the gimpy hammy or the tweaked groin, thats not my opinion thats fact. Theres a reason Drew played more consistantly this year, he did get his 25 games off but they didnt come all at once, they were sprinkled over a 6 month period. Period?? hahaha, cant resist. His manager knew when he wasnt feeling so ahh fresh is it? anyway I thought Tito played this thing out pretty well with Drew and as evidenced by his September his mindset worked, Tito has a good ability to read his guys as a former ball player and I would be the 1st to admit that playing outfied from February till almost November would f*** most people up at some time during the season. This year we didnt have long bouts without Drew and consequently he was more consistant down the stretch. You wonder why these guys use growth hormones? They dont want to be labeled a guy who cant be counted on. this year we could count on drew in 99% of the games we played, when he sat it was the managers decision for the most part and this is a good thing. Drew can be counted on this year in the post season and thats a big bonus for us.

Ya the Yanks are going to make out regardless due to the extra game and the extra day it took to play the game....Theyre going to be hard to handle, at least with Verlander the tigers had a pop to win the 1st game and then the Yanks would be down 0-1 with all the pressure being on Burnett. Thats not going to happen now since JV pitched Sunday.
-
Too bad theyre not all robots. we could crown the Yanks world series winners every March 31st if this were the case.
-
Yeah,he could play touch football with us over at Fino field in our annual thanksgiving day battle. I'd even let him play quarterback for us. maybe we can have a couple of yellow labradors running around and we'll all be dressed in wrangler jeans while driving Ford pickups. it would distract our wives from bitching about how much we drank the night before with them asking us ""Who is that backward ass country f*** and who in Gods name wears Wranglers in 2009""
-
Hard to root for any team that blew the dogs that Detroit blew in September but Id stick a knife in my leg before I rooted for any team owned by Carl Pohlad unless they were playing NY
-
Im not a #s guy but his OPS #s are amongst the top of right fielders. This guy finally played an entire year, he came to work every day and surprised me by not missing any meaningful time down the stretch, his absence last year cost us the division I feel and his consistant play in September this year allowed us the luxury of closing out Texas early rather than being in a s*** fight down to the wire. Hes been a great bat in the playoffs for us in the past so lets hope he continues on the path that Jesus has laid out for him and we get to play some s*** bag national league team in 3 weeks.
-
Quick, get Rhets IP address, I'll fedex him 10,000 scorpions and a bag of dog s***. the f***er is bad mouthing Herr Theo and his Holiness and that isnt proper on this forum, no one can bad mouth theo and drew without being labeled a troll unless you've been here forever. Christ almighty give the guy a break, hes telling it as he sees it, that aint trolling its simple discussion. Drew had a good September and managed to finish the year with .278 avg and his power #s went up too. This guy has been effective in the playoffs and his bat is essential if we plan on going anywhere this October..His RBI #s,although not meaningful to many on this panel, are however putride just the same. Id like him to be a little more aggressive up at the plate and would sacrifice some of those walks for doubles with guys on base, at any rate we are where we wanted to be. October baseball and a good staff of arms should be exciting.

I dont think Ive despised a proffessional athlete more than Brett Favre. Maybe Ulf Samuelson, perhaps Mark Gastineau,Fran Tarkenton comes to mind but this guy blows them all away easily. I cant wait for December to come around when the gutty Favre is under pressure and limps off the field after his 3rd pick of the 1st half against a team that comes after him balls to the wall. I will not deny his energy, his arm strength or his #s. Its simply a matter of character and him being 2 Desmond Howard kickoff returns away from being Jim Kelly and Dan Fouts bastard offspring.

As are the Cards and Colorado is kind of getting dissed a bit with them being the long shot in the NL after posting some great numbers down the stretch. I dont like the Phillies this year, their starters sort of came down to earth and their closer is rather beatable or has been every year other than last year. today the twins are a huge favorite over the gagging Tigers who only win these days when Verlander goes. One of THE richest men in baseball just f***s his fans to tears every year by dumping quality players and crying poverty, if he werent a billionaire I wouldnt mind but this f***bag is another stain on baseball and the fans in Minneappolis who do come out in droves to support this guys team deserve better.
