  1. How many more years does Burnett have in NY? He sucks, a complete mental case whos more inclined to give up double digits in Fenway than anyone else since Carl Pavano left NY.
  2. For a while all BB did was draft and sign tightends, inspite of watsons athletic ability he has been a failure as an offensive weapon, this guy was a 1st round pick and plays like he doesnt want to get hurt.
  3. Are you still seeing Moses Malone's cousin from Petersberg? Of all the right handed arms in the AL i like this guy the best, how are ya Lyndie?
  4. Ole Corwin and I were friendly back in the late 90s when he had some credit issued I fixed for him. I got taken care of with tickets, Cellular 1 waived about 500.00 in late fees and fixed his TRW and we both shook hands and made friends...A real gentlemen, a very bright guy who does have the intelligence to be an NFL coach some day but thats a long ways away.
  5. From Detroit Michigan, George THE ANIMAL Steele... Nice avatar, I think he used to boink Jacksons sister.
  6. I saw Ortiz bunt in a game against the Angels in the summer of 2007, it didnt confuse me with Vince Coleman or Tommy Herr but he did get it down and far enough up the line where he got a hit out of it. How that translates in the 9th inning of a tied game with a guy on 2nd and no one out is the issue at hand...As far as JD Drew being one of the best outfielders in the game? His 135 games played were impressive, his 24/68/279 wasnt, his .389obp was, his 109k's werent. Id like to see him more aggressive at the plate, his discipline is great to the point of hurting his stats. Hes got to do better than that if we as a team are to be more successful, especially with the decline of Ortiz and Bays absense....I know many here feel RBI's are useless stats, well heres a case where they matter, sometimes a walk isnt as good as a hit, sometimes you need a double or a Hr or a single up the middle to score....I think this is his bust out year in Boston. someone stick a hot poker up his ass or tell him how his wife chuggs dick for sport, get this guy fired up even if you gotta throw at him in batting practice....Hes capable of so much more with the gifts hes been blessed with, this is the 30/110/.290 year we've been desperatley waiting on.
  7. If my balls were on your chin... Good points MJ, they've lost their best power hitter and replaced him with 2 men who are stellar defensively but offensively they've seen their best days I fear. They need an offensive strategy that takes advantage of their speed. You'll see more running, more hit and runs and more 1st to 3rds on a single than ever before. However the 3run homer in the 6th inning to get you back in a game maybe elusive for us. Its going to be difficult to see this team attempt small ball but I think in tight games we're going to have to consider this as a primary option, everyone on this club needs to learn how to bunt with the exception of Ortiz, he'd only hurt himself trying.
  8. As my sainted grandmother used to say ""s*** in your right hand and hope with your left, see what fills 1st"" That said I think the sucking sound he heard about 15 minutes after the Baltimore game started will compel him to at least start paying the guys we do have that play well. This Wolfork thing is bothering me and BB just loves this guy,any guy for that matter who can dominate the line of scrimmage. Their problems are many, pass rush, run game, weak ass dbacks who tackle like old people f***,tight ends that have granite hands, another deep threat that can actually catch the ball,an offensive line that cant get a push on 3rd and 1, no O coordinator, no d coordinator and a coach who is pretty sure he invented the game and from time to time makes moves just to make his job more challenging. This is the NFL , we've seen 5-11 teams go 11-5 almost year in and year out now. Defense needs playmakers, offense needs consistancy. A 1600 yard back would change this entire teams destiny.
  9. I been watching you 2 battle over this and in this specific instance I think you make a valid point, if the sox wanted to smear Bay by leaking their worries about his knees they wouldve gained and Bay wouldve lost but over history we have seen some real f***ed up things come out of Yawkey Way as our friend 700 points out, they grease skids before most of the guys they let go or dont sign depart. The redsox front office isnt leak proof, thats hysterically wrong and if we need to walk down Manny Ramirez lane to proove this then so be it. This isnt solely on Theo, its on the entire mindset of every ownership group this club has had and thats a total of 3 owners since 1930... 700, ever think that Jean Yawkey was a hottie?? I wanted to ass rape her.... with a broken whiskey bottle. a half gallon of Schenley's smashed over her head while the Whitesnake from Westwood, John Harrington, held her down muttering ""Are you ok mother, its for the best"". The facts are facts and maybe you dont remember the days when 0 free agents would even consider signing here, especially the black guys(See Tim Raines Sr and old Ken Griffey) and after the way they treated Roger Moret(still catatonic in McClean hospital since 1976) the Latin kids had serious misgivings about coming her as well.. Do you remember watching Luis Tiant pitch for the Yankees? Thats when my virginity was lost. Luis Tiant was shown the door in an ungraceful manner and this for a guy who threw a 165pitch complete game in the 75 world series in game 6 after he won his 1st 2 starts. he left quietly but the kids coming up saw the F/O dump on a guy who just threw his guts out for us, could keep a cigar lit in the shower and was absolutely adored by us fans, especially us youngsters.... Many kids my age got f***ed up pitching because they tried to imitate his windup, especially the vast amount of Puerto Rican kids I grew up with. the man was simply above great in that 75 season and when he opened up game 1 by shuttting out one of the best teams ever in that Red club we actually had a shot to win that thing...Between Ed Armbrister and Bernie Carbo,Dewey Evans and Fisks game 6 heroics few remeber we had a 3-0 lead in game 7 of the 75 series only to have Bill Lee's eephis pitch to Tony Perez hit the moon and then Darrell Johnson thought it wise to remove Jim Willoughby for Burton in the 9th and Joe Morgans 115 foot blooper scored Rose from 2nd.... Yaz flied out to Geronimo to end that majestic classic and my grand father put his head in his hands for what seemed to be an hour, finally lit a cigarette and then shut the tv off and staggered to bed hand in hand with my sainted grandmother as I heard him cry himself to sleep that night calling out in rage to the angels and saints who let him down. That said..... when you slap people in the face with enuff Benjamins you could get Barry Bonds to play for the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan and you can get Roger Clemens to pitch closer to his home in Texas for a contender by moving to last place Toronto for 8,000,000.00 per. Money my friends changes attitudes, perception and can make people forget injustice, perceived or real, it dont matter, follow the money. We got money, we'll get free agents as long as Scott Boras is in business and men play the game for cash.
  10. Monster year from Arod?? Like what, 75hrs 175rbi .375 avg with 65 steals? Something like the #s you had predicted for Randy Johnson when he signed in the Bronx or closer to the 28 wins you predicted from Carl Pavano his 1st year in NYC?? You're worse than the SI cover jinx, keep it up and the yanks will be battling Baltimore for 4th.
  11. MJ you know I think you suck old mens cocks with gusto but I cant argue with the truth. Has there ever been an Old Timers Game at Fenway? You want to know why?? They cant field a team of men who want to come back here and this has been going on long before Theo and this crew of guys took over the team...From Dick O'Connell to Buddy Leroux to Hayward Sullivan to John Harrington to Duquette and now these guys the Redsox front office has usually been in a major slam fest with whoever left the club, recent titles have deflected a lot of attention away from this part of their history but I remember them slamming George Scott, Reggie Smith, Fisk, Burleson,""Malibu"" Freddy Lynn as Sully used to call him, I can go on... They offered Bay 60/4 then they pulled it off the table fearing knee issues. This breakup was somewhat harmonious considering the past men who left here with a bone up their ass.
  12. As much as the far east has influenced baseball I think it would be a travesty if they had an international world series that didnt have the Caribbean and South American players representing their own nations.
  13. There isnt a park in America where you get closer to the grass than you do in Fenway Park. The walk up the tunnel and into the stadium still gives me chills. That said the seats were built for 1912 asses and due to 100 yrs of processed foods and an increasing sedentary lifestyle the place is just too small for me when I go with friends.
  14. If hes adamant about setting the bar for closers then I suspect he'll be doing it elsewhere. theres no way theo pays this guy 60M for 4 years but thats what he'll be looking for.
  15. I wouldnt piss on the place if it were on fire. One of my customers had a couple of different ideas on what to do in a new stadium and he had a model of the old fenway inside his new stadium in South Boston complete with the triangle, the monster and the short porch down right field. Overall I have nothing but good vibes from the current owners but we must come to understand that as long as this group owns Fenway then there wont ever be a new Stadium built., I wouldve loved to see a new stadium in Southie built by McCourt and the models I did see were very appealing. Imagine not having to toss your keys to a stranger when you park? Imagine a 50,000 seat stadium with over 25000 parking spots?? All this couldve been possible under McCourts plan.
  16. Good morning sox fans and you other assorted ankle biting cock gobblers. The Globe has a better sports section than the herald but I want half their sports writers to catch on fire in front of their families...They all take their cues from the angry Bozo look a like, Dan the man Shaughnessy and seem to be full of nothing but contempt for the entire organization. They are the 1st line of defense for the sox brass, the Globe is an extension of the F/O and when someones on their way out of town its usually the globe that breaks stories about drug use, drinking, binge eating and chasing tail around town....Many should remember what they did to Mo Vaughn before he moved onto Anaheim??...Disgraceful and even though it all may have been true they simply crossed the line of decency...Ask Schilling what he thinks of the Globe staff, he'll be honest in his disgust.
  17. agreed, they needed to revamp their offense once the power guys left. Bay and Lowell are both power guys, Ortiz and Pedroia both hit under their expected figures as far as power goes last year and replacing both Lowell and Bay with Cameron and Beltre isnt going to solve the power problem but it does give us other options that maybe more beneficial in the grand scheme of things. Both these guys run although Beltre doesnt steal that often. We now have Ells, Pedroia, Cameron, Drew,Scutaro and Beltre who can all run, this team will be forced to change its offensive philosophy from being a patient club with big OBP #s and better than average power to a team that bunts a little more, runs a little more and over all puts the pressure on the other teams defense. It wasnt just Beckett that failed us down the stretch last year, Paplebon became very beatable and Lester didnt pitch all that well down the stretch either. Hopefully their arms are well rested, hopefully the bullpen can get to consistancy and hopefully all these new faces bring some energy to an offense that was pedestrian to say the least and f***ing awful in October when it mattered most.
  18. Having the luxury of watching Carlton, Hunter and BB thruouth their entire careers you cant compare BB against the other 2.The other 2 guys were Aces, champions and were the horses on some great teams. BB on the other hand was tossed around like the fat chick at the keg party and put #s up for many years that simply didnt matter..His best 4 years were in the early/mid 70s and he was essentially a .500 pitcher thru that entire time frame...He was durable but beatable, he threw a ton of Ks but a ton of Hrs too....On raw #s alone I suspect you can make a good case for him but he only won 20 once and that came with of 325 IP and 9 shut outs and he still lost 17 games that year. Plus he gets caught with the nail file?? The Hall is a f***ing joke without Pete Rose in it so I dont get anxious about BB being in it but based on raw #s alone then ya, I suspect he should get in because we wont be seeing any more 300 game winners after RJ and Clemens come up..... Jack Morris was a better pitcher, no contest hands down Jack Morris was so money compared to BB. Alomar was THE best 2nd basemen in the game,Ryne Sandberg couldnt carry his jock and hes in. Alomar had the spitting incident which is well remembered by the sports writers but how can you have Enos Slaughter and Sandberg and Ozzie Smith in the Hall without Alomar?.... Sports writers are a vindictive bunch..Dirty ****ing vindictive f***s.
  19. I dont know much about WAR or SARS or VORP or H1N1 but I do know the reason they tanked 2 years in a row in October was due to their lack of hitting and Josh Beckett acting human when it mattered most. If Becks pitched like he did in the 03@07 playoffs then we beat Tampa in 08 and we're not so anxious. So in essence what do we have here now? The Sox let go their best power guy and replaced him with Mike Cameron. The Sox replaced Lowell with a guy who hit 8hrs last year and has a career OBP of .325 So we get Cameron Lackey and Beltre for what amounts to be Jason Bay... When put in this context its easier to swallow. Beltre played in 111 games last year down from 143 which was down from 149 which was down from 156....Is this a trend? The boy reeks of roid abuse and the stats back it up 49HRS in Chavez Ravine in 2004 then Seattle signs him and he drops to 19 and then back up to 26 a couple of times, thats a tuff place to hit HRS in but not that much tuffer than LA is. Did Brady Anderson shanghai his body for that 1 season? I dont understand the urgency in getting rid of Lowell, we're going to pay for him no matter where he is playing, why not keep his ass on our bench? the guy can still hit and he did outperform Beltre in every offensive category that matters. i wouldnt have a problem with Lowell staying here to DH from time to time, pinch hit and fill in at 3rd when Beltre isnt playing... Overall Boston is better this year than last. with John Lackey,Mike Cameron and Beltre coming to town and Jason Bay leaving I like the team better than last year but I still dont see the offensive worries being settled and that was our downfall 2 Octobers in a row..
  20. This team was favored to win the SuperBowl the last 4 years and have made roster moves in the offseason that made the team worse, not better. Kraft has been under the cap going into September 3 of those 4 years..Simply no balance in the offense, a defense thats gotten progressively worse since the 02 season and the inability to stop anyone with 3rd and short and the inability to run on 3rd and short have handcuffed these guys in too many games to count since they last won it all. I think that they need to invest in a guy who can run 25-30 times a game, Corey Dillon was the ace in the hole in the last 2 championships, Maroney is unable to handle this task and they abandoned the run in every close game they played this year, thats not going to get you wins. You got to run the ball if for no other reason than keeping your QB alive, they best get someone who can foot this bill...Merriweather looked frightened of taking on Rice yesterday on the 1st play of the game, you cant play safety frightened, he did..This team has been beaten up by more physical teams in the recent past and its the reason why theyre no longer elite. A lot of swagger left that team when Seymour, Samuel, Harrison and Bruschi left them and the guys whove come in to replace them havent performed as well, if they insist on allowing pro bowlers to leave every time their contract comes up they will fail and deserve to...Kraft was in that building yesterday, he saw his team, his coach and his qb humilated in front of national tv and the quietness of Gillette should send him a signal that its time to start paying for quality performances and to stop screwing around with his best players...That season ticket line that was once 5 years long has been reduced to 0 and playoff tickets being sold at half face value 10 minutes before kickoff tell an even worse story for the Pats future.
  21. Old friend Mark Sweeney put his time in at LSU back in the early early 90s. I think he hit .600 for us in the American Legion playoffs when he finally did leave Louisiana and if Im not mistaken he may still have a pro contract pinch hitting in the NL.
  22. Beltre and his recent ability to post .325 obp's will be in McClain hospital using Rogelio Morets old room before May 31st...In the drive to eliminate Lowell from this teams roster they really dont give a f*** who replaces him so long as we get to sponsor some other teams payroll this year, who wants to start a poll as to where Beltre will be come August 1st...Ya gotta give the inside track to St Louis who have made Theo a usefull idiot in the Piniero,Smoltz and Lugo moves but San Fran gets a maybe since they harnessed Brad Penny from the heap of scatine that Theo has brought aboard in recent years. WTF, this guy goes against every element of their offensive philosophy and since hitting 49 in 04 hes slid down the line to where he is today, a 1 yr gamble by a desperate team with money to burn.
  23. 35hr/125rbi guys who can handle the Boston media and the pressure of playing NY 18XS a year dont grow on trees..We lost this guy over what amounts to be nickels. Im less than pleased, in fact it sucks but Im sure Mike Cameron will be able to give us similar#s. Jesus fkn Christ is this nauseating.
  24. Ells needs just a little more patience at the plate and with his speed he'll become a premier leadoff guy sooner than later.
  25. Gee I prayed and prayed and prayed and finally they brought back the man who made all our dreams possible, lets bow our heads in prayer that the Yankess brought back one of their biggest playoff failures in history for the 2010 campaign. Heres the NY Daily News version of the biggest disasters in Yankee history, Vasquez checks in at only #7... Javier Vazquez Acquired in trade with Expos on Dec. 16, 2003, for Nick Johnson, Randy Choate and Juan Rivera At the time of the deal, Nick Johnson is still considered a future superstar by Yankee brass, but he's worth dealing for Vazquez, who's coming off a 241-strikeout season. His lone year in the Bronx fails to live up to that standard - as 150 Ks and a 4.91 ERA can attest - but he earns all-time bust status in the '04 ALCS against the Red Sox. Vazquez twice enters ballgames in relief of Kevin Brown. He manages to win a blowout despite a poor effort in Game 3 but walks five and allows three earned runs in two innings in Game 7, failing to stop the bleeding as the Bosox triumph. Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/galleries/big_apple_baseballs_most_disastrous_pickups/big_apple_baseballs_most_disastrous_pickups.html#ixzz0aWXpJuEK Gee I never knew the Yanks purchased Kei Igawa for a mere 20sumthin million either. How does Brian Cashman still have a job? I couldve offered Sabbathia Texeira and Burnett the same money Cashman did and I wouldnt be as expensive and now they dump Cabrerra for this s*** bag? They never get it in NY, they stumble around and pay thru the ass but they still dont get it.
