  1. I can't speak for others, but I am not ignoring Lester's side. On the Red Sox side, IMO you don't give the other party the first offer to shop.
  2. Lester going to the Yankees would be a nice kick in the teeth.
  3. The Red Sox certainly had it within their power to not give him am offer to shop around. They could have waited until he received some offers. Instead they gave him a starting point to drive up his price.
  4. Wow! It is good to be left-handed and be able to throw a baseball.
  5. For similar money, I would think he stays on the west coast.
  6. I was just poking fun at SFF.
  7. Both Francisco and Holt bat left-handed.
  8. I think they would like to make a big signing before tickets go on sale in the first week of December.
  9. Theo has a hard time letting go when it comes to guys he signed. I have no doubt that Theo wants him, and he has the budget to get him.
  10. If they sign Sandova, they should include a paid nutritionist/chef in the contract. It would be worth the investment as this guy has a huge problem keeping his weight at healthy levels.
  11. In the end if they get him, we don't care how they got it done, but if they don't get it done, my verdict will be that they screwed the pooch on this going back to last spring training and their ridiculous $70 million offer.
  12. Hey, at times you think I am criticizing the FO when I am not, and I, at times think your defense of roster moves sounds whiny. It is a shortcoming of internet communication.
  13. I was criticizing/disagreeing with the reporter's characterization of the offer. I still don't think the reported offer is agressive, and apparently neither do you. My criticism of the FO is that they gave him an offer to shop to all the other teams. I have seen no other report that he got any offer before ours. I think that it is foolish to be the first offer.
  14. You won't bitch. You'll just defend it. Edit: I'll be bitching about it. You will attempt a whiny defense.
  15. I didn't pick anything. Someone posted it in the string so I commented on it. I also didn't ignore anything. I wasn't aware of the other report so I couldn't have ignored it. BTW, who do you think I was criticizing when I disagreed that the reported offer was aggressive?
  16. Don't go whining if the second pitcher acquired is Ervin Santana or worse. Don't cry about the high price of pitching if they sign this fat bastard to play 3B.
  17. There are limited resources. Paying a lot to Panda limits what they can do on pitching ... no?
  18. The reported offer was not aggressive IMO. Is it the actual offer? I don't know. I only commented on what was reported. I still don't think it sounds aggressive. Why are you arguing with me about the accuracy or completeness of the report. How the f*** would any of us know the truth. We can only discuss what is being reported. Do you think the reported offer is aggressive?
  19. I was reacting to a report that the Red Sox made an aggressive offer. I don't think their offer will be close to what it takes to sign him. I would have called it an I itial offer or an opening offer. It doesn't seem aggressive at all.
  20. That isn't an aggressive offer.
  21. Then where does Francisco play?
  22. Platoon at first with Napoli?
  23. If they wanted to play it slow, they should have told him that they wanted to bring him back and that they would talk to him after he explored other offers. They gave him an offer to shop around helping him to increase his value.
  24. Of course it is their call regarding how they make an offer.
  25. I would have gone one of two ways. I'd have had a meeting and not made an offer, but asked that he meet with us after he had gone shopping, or I would have made him a very strong market value offer and given hin 24 hours to decide. I would not have given him an offer to shop.
