  1. Dumber managers than Maddon have won World Championships. Farrell would be in that category. I don't care what happens to Maddon. I am just glad that I will not have to look at his stupid smug puss anymore. As for Theo's job rebuilding the Cubs, this is his 4th season at the helm. He has stockpiled a ton of major league ready prospects and he has a fat wallet. He will be out of excuses if the Cubbies are not competitive this season, especially in light of consecutive last place finishes and the year they didn't finish last under Theo, they lost 100 games.
  2. Not one of the pitches that Perez swung at were in the zone.
  3. i think that you are engaging in some very wishful thinking. I am not saying that the Yanks will sign Lester, but if they really want him, they will get him.
  4. Kalish was once a part of our outfield future. Prospects are always a crap shoot. Cost control of a crapshoot doesn't excite me. Getting Stanton would excite me.
  5. I am not getting the relevance of the JD Drew comparison. Stanton is an absolute beast. The Marlins have produced the next generation's MIggy Cabrera. We have use up one of XBs cost control years and it was worth the minimum wage that he received. How many more years of cost control of XB would we get before he is arbitration eligible. I am not expecting a silver slugger from him in 2015. He is still developing.
  6. http://www.mlbtraderumors.mobi/25729/show/16dc946e24230c454429689e3eb72d53?t=s522rbj2cpih8dfurvqe6rmj96 I will be glad to see less of his obnoxious smug puss. I hope he crashes and burns with the Cubs. He'll have his work cut out for him since he had trouble making out line up cards for an AL team without losing his DH.
  7. Now I remember why I was so relieved that Lackey won game 6 of the 2013 Series for us and we didn't have to rely on Peavy in game 7.
  8. The guy is a beast. Neither of the other 2 guys will amount to half of what Stanton is already. Player control is very desireable if the guy is a star, but otherwise does it really matter. If it takes XB 2 more seasons to get on his feet and really produce, what would that give us... one more year of control before arbitration? Yes, I would give that up in a heart eat for 2 monster years from Stanton. Our only concern if we got Stanton would be rebuilding the Green Monster which he would likely knock down.
  9. So tragic. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24770067/cardinals-oscar-taveras-killed-in-car-accident-in-dominican-republic
  10. if they win the series, i think they will ride with what they have and let Shields walk. If they come up short in the series, they may make some moves.
  11. Ditto. If anyone wants to discuss politics, they can visit my Facebook for an education. . It won't be a debate. They can try to debate if they don't mind losing every argument, but I can guarantee an education. Lol!
  12. Everything is falling their way like it did for the 2013 Red Sox. And I think the 2013 Red Sox had more talent. I can see the Royals being a 4th place team next season . Guthrie is mediocre and they are getting wonderful production from him in the post season. A bullpen doesn't mean much if your starter can't give you 5 or 6 strong innings. Next season without Shields they and the good fortune of fate they will drop like a stone even if they put Ozzie Smith at all 8 positions.
  13. it looks like he is wearing a funny nose and eyeglasses.
  14. lol! I will not even wait that long. Maddon is overrated in my opinion. He thinks he is a genius manager with his shifts and 5 infielder maneuvers, but he is no genius. A genius doesn't submit a lineup card with 2 third basemen losing his DH for the game. I don't want him. No manager is worth big bucks.
  15. The Royals are getting great pitching from very mediocre pitchers. Things are breaking their way. It looks like it is their year, and I am happy for them, but they are not very good.
  16. Hey SCM stay alert and safe. These radical bastards are rumored to be targeting law enforcement and military personnel.
  17. Lol! Agreed.
  18. I didn't look at the link. I am testing my memory. Was it Pedro's one-hitter with 17 k's against the Yankees -- probably the most dominating performance that I have seen.
  19. Also, relievers will not get it done for a stud like Stanton.
  20. The Cubs are stocked with blue chip prospects who are ready to make the jump to the pros. Our best prospects -- Bradley, Middlebrooks and XB all are devalued. Bradley and WMB have no value. X's value has been greatly discounted. We don't have any other major league ready blue chip prospects other than Betts. We are not going to get Stanton for XB, Betts and a collection of guys who are 2 to 3 years away from the majors. We don't have the chips. They held the chips too long and they turned into horse chips.
  21. lol!!! Ooops. But he would be a helluva a hitting catcher!
  22. I would cough up whatever it takes to get Stanton. I don't think we have enough talent in our system to get him if we let the Marlins give us a list.
  23. That Smoltz start was a horror show.
  24. MLB rosters are too heavy with 12 pitchers to have room for a defensive specialist outfielder.
  25. it's really a tough call in this series. No one put the team on his back and carried them to victory. I think a good argument can be made for Holland. These games were so tight with no room for error.
