  1. And if they were 12-0 we shouldn't revel in that either by this logic. What's the point of watching... just wait until the end of the season for the post-mortems or celebration. No one is burying them, but it is worth noting that the rotation is living up to the backs of their baseball cards -- they have been very inconsistent and mediocre. There are no encouraging metrics on this bunch. If there are encouraging metrics, I wish someone would share them. Pecotas projections are worthless. Give me some good metrics for us to sink our teeth into.
  2. I wish Porcello had something better to do.
  3. I am just going by reports at the time. He reportedly told management that he lost control in 2011 and he was pretty hurt by it. He suggested that he was through in Boston.
  4. Hopefully, he starts building some velocity. 87-88 is not going to cut it over the course of the season.
  5. He also gets paid much higher than number 3 starters.
  6. We can disagree about whether he is worth $20 million/year but don't tell me to grow up, punk. Let's get that straight. If I hang a nickname on him, it comes with the territory if you play like s***. Today, he threw like puss.
  7. His stuff isn't close to being comparable to Lester's stuff. Lester misses bats and strikes out about 100 more guys a year than Pussello. He was also our 1 for the last 4 years. This guy Porcello is number 3 until he proves otherwise. Number 3s don't get $20 million/year for 4 years.
  8. The FO should have been more patient about handing out $82 million extensions. That is where the patience should have been exercised. There's nothing to be patient about now. We have him for 4 years, and it will be what it will be. Patience is not a question now.
  9. He gave up a lot of runs in spring training and he has had poor outings after the season started.
  10. He was a players manager, and in the end they showed him no respect
  11. 5 Home Runs in 3 games is not a good sign for a sinker ball pitcher and neither is 4 ground ball outs today. This guy is no $20/year pitcher, not even at today's inflated prices. Congrats Ben on setting a new market level for mediocre #3 starters. Kershaw must be worth $50/year now.
  12. I saw it in Spring Training. He has no instincts in the outfield. Maybe it will come over time. Hopefully, it will come.
  13. I'll contact you in a pm.
  14. When he was drunk and crippled, Mantle was still better than everyone else. Yaz liked his beer, but I don't remember too many stories about drunk bar hopping like Mantle.
  15. I have said it since before Spring Training that our staff is comprised of a pair of 4s a pair of 5s and a 3. That just can't cut it over the course of a full season.
  16. David Wright got injured and forced my hand so I decided to give ARod a trial run.
  17. I don't know how or why anyone would expect Buch to be an ace. Last season he wasn't injured. He made 28 starts and his results were putrid. What did people expect him to find to turn around his performance?
  18. See him in 3 months.
  19. ARod was a good waiver wire pickup.
  20. They say that he hung on too long, because he could barely move around. Watching him limp around the bases on his 500th home run was sad and painful to watch. He was pretty crippled at the end. He was Mickey Friggin Mantle. The other players were in awe of his talent. While his slash line was okay, he was no longer Mickey Mantle.
  21. Trade him and free up a spot for Castillo.
  22. At least Kelly has a power arm. He's our only rotation power arm.
  23. They really should shorten the season to 150 games or reinstitute scheduled Sunday double headers so there are more open dates in the schedule. Greed prevents the scheduled DH's. Players sped up those games on their own, because they didn't want to be playing for 10 hours.
  24. I agree. We all fall prey to the darker sides of our nature from time to time, but it has been a well-traveled 2 way street with Fred where he has been outnumbered. I am pretty sure that Fred would be happy to just direct his anger at the FO, the players and ocassionally an umpire. Why people take offense to that is beyond me, but they do, and the s*** storm gets stirred and everyone behves badly while claiming righteous idignation.
