    Buchholz is the real wild card in the rotation. In a rotation that is a pile of mediocrity, Porcello seems to be the best bet to be the leader of the pack, but there have been stretches in Buchholz's career where he has been exceptional. If he can get on one of those runs, like he was on at the beginning of 2013, that could really jump start this team's fortunes. However, if he pitches to last year's 5.43 ERA, this very mediocre rotation will put tremendous pressure on the offense to produce big numbers.

    We should bludgeon our way to enough wins to play better than .500 ball. The problem will come in the dog days when offenses sputter. By that time the pen should be worn down to a bunch of noodle arms. Pitching reinforcements at mid season looks to be a likely path.

    In the offseason I read some reports about Miley. Maybe I am recollecting wrong, but I think the report said that his secondary pitches were too weak to playoff his substandard fastball. What is his best pitch supposed to be, because his fastball is really not very good?

    Good point. The boob got us into this fix. Bullpen has looked okay, but with this collection of bottom of the rotation starters, the pen will be in tatters by the All Star Break.

    I am not defending everything he says or does. I am just pointing out that the ridicule started by kimmi and piled on by you came first in this instance. Not everyone reacts as well to ridicule as you do. You didn't like his reaction, and I am not defending it. I am just pointing out that ridiculing someone as " a Goober " is also childish, and it knocks you off any moral high ground to complain about his reaction. I on the other hand can pass judgment on both of you. lol!

    Pete, I think you have the sequence of events mixed up. The ridicule I.e., the Goober remark followed by the picture (you know if it was meant as ridicule) preceded the insults according to my reading of things.
