  1. I am still hopeful that it gets done. If DD wants the guy, he will get him. He always seems to get his man.
  2. Earlier today, I listened to John Farrell on the "Whatever It Takes" podcast from 12/16. He was asked if he thought that there was still a possibility that we will add another bat. Farrell had a long pause and then said that there probably would have to be some other moves before that could happen. He said that he thought something could happen as some of the FA hitters found landing spots if we could upgrade. He then went onto say that he didn't think there was a big chance that we would add a big middle of the order bat. Buch is looking to me like the move that had to be made to add a bat.
  3. I took a blind taste test of vodkas a few years ago at my local liquor store. I was certain that I could ID Grey Goose, my vodka of choice. It was tested with Ketel One, Stoli and Absolut. I was certain that I made the right pick. Wrong. I picked the Absolut. That saved me some money as that is now my House Vodka.
  4. LOL! He also mentioned that he was more of a contact pitcher when he was with the Tigers and that he throws more 4 seamers now and fewer sinkers.
  5. Farrell would have done better picking a fan from the stands to run the bases that night. Wright looked like he had never run the bases in his life. Oh, wait.... he hadn't run the bases since high school.
  6. I would never trade an every day superstar in his prime for a pitcher, but that is just me.
  7. I am sold. We should trademark it and share the royalties.
  8. I could see putting the stronger arm in RF, but I still think that Bradley is the superior defender. While Betts has worked to improve his throwing, it doesn't compare to Bradley's arm.
  9. I am curious as to who you think gives Bradley competition defensively.
  10. There should be a cocktail with that name.
  11. I don't see the upside for the Red Sox of swapping Bradley for Conforto.
  12. Definitely a salary dump. There was no interest in Buch by other teams. It seems like we were shopping him pretty heavily, but every team wanted Pom instead. Pom is much cheaper. DD wanted to move $.
  13. Good point about the timing. Injuries happen in Spring Training. We lost ER in the first week last year in March. Buch was an insurance policy. There is probably a reason why DD did it now. It is not like he got a Blue Chip prospect in return.
  14. Here is the big question for TalkSox. Has this caused MVP to faint? I think that he (like I) firmly believed that the Buchholz saga would continue in Boston.
  15. DD rebuilding the farm. LOL!!
  16. I agree. It looks and smells like a salary dump.
  17. I can't see what the Mets could offer us that would entice us to trade Bradley. The only guy that I would want is Syndegard, but that is not going to happen.
  18. Good acquisition by the Phillies. It is looking like a salary dump by DD.
  19. I saw his MLB debut against the Angels. There was a lot of hoopla around his arrival and the sky was the limit for his career. That was a long time ago.
  20. Call me crazy (and I have been called much worse), but I still think that DD and EE want to make this happen.
  21. If it is a salary dump, maybe DD is positioning to add EE.
  22. Youk, please correct the typo in the Thread Title.
  23. That is surprising.
  24. On yesterday's conference call with Porcello, he was asked for the reason behind his turnaround from 2015. He was very forthright about wanting to make a good impression with his new team and that some things didn't go well for him out of the gate and sort of snowballed on him and got in his head. He didn't use the term "snowballed" , but that was the tenor of his remarks. He put a lot of emphasis on the mental aspect of the game and how that can impact your approach and performance. He said that it is easy to let the mental side of the game beat you. A lot of us have been wondering why there has been a pattern of under performance of pitchers in their first season with the Red Sox. We now have an answer for Porcello.
  25. An excellent gift giving idea.
