  1. I fixed it for you. I couldn't resist.
  2. Some people act like it isn't real money if it doesn't count toward the Luxury Tax Threshold.
  3. You can say it as much as you want and point to whatever statistical studies you can find, but I will give more credence to the players and coaches in the clubhouses.
  4. Cleveland has a very strong team on paper.
  5. Unless it doesn't count against the LT threshold...right?
  6. in every clubhouse , the players know which of their mates has steel in his spine and who will wilt under the pressure. Just because they are all major leaguers doesn't mean the they all handle the pressure. They don't. As long as clutch exists in the clubhouse it exists and is real. Clutch players don't always put up great numbers, because the game is very hard, but the pitchers know who are the toughest outs and batters know which pitchers never give in in tight spots.
  7. An 8 year run is pretty good for any manger in any town. Plus, Francona didn't lose his job, because Boston is a tough town. He lost his job, because he admittedly lost control of the clubhouse.
  8. And she is a big ol'horse.
  9. As you blamed them for being impatient and ruining the team's season?
  10. And your explanation made no sense in the context of your statement.
  11. i understand your small sample size position. It is not that difficult to understand. And you could say it with 80% fewer words and posts. What I don't understand is how you can say in one post that Clutch can neither be proved or disprove and then in the next breath categorically deny that it exists. That makes no sense. And then you go into this who riff about how a hit can be clutch but will not let someone characterize the player as clutch. You start to get into the realm of nonsense.
  12. If they are going to put on someone for fluff who knows little or nothing about the game, they should be either female eye candy (because the audience is overwhelmingly male) or extremely funny. Gary misses the boat on both counts.
  13. Blah blah blah. After a while it is white noise with all of your caveats and exceptions and confusing context. Sometimes reading your posts is like reading a warning label on an over the counter painkiller. It tells me everything except whether it will make my headache go away.
  14. Based on what? It was one of the dumbest signings of all time. $72 million and they knew almost nothing about the guy, and he had almost no resume or career worth mentioning. He hadn't played for a year or year and a half Whalen he was signed. Ben would have had a better chance of success if he went on that TV show where people bid in storage lockers.
  15. Gary is out? What a loss to the broadcast.
  16. Succinct and clear is not your hallmark. That doesn't make you a bad poster. It is just an accurate evaluation of your posting style Yeah, and I don't think you would get much disagreement with this, but then you will say that it doesn't exist. Not being able to prove something doesn't equate with it not existing. That is clear and succinct.
  17. Talking out of both sides of your mouth. You agree that clutch can't be proved or disproved, but yet you deny the existence of it. I have no idea what this ^ post means.
  18. But you did conclude that clutch doesn't exist. That is non "not playing the game."
  19. Nor can the inverse be proved, but you have seemingly made that conclusion.
  20. And that evidence has no meaning withing the four walls of the clubhouse.
  21. But the hometown crowd can put such pressure on a team that it can ruin the team's entire season.
  22. I got what you were saying. My response is that this (clutch v. non-clutch) is not an exact science. Let's try not to make so, because it isn't.
  23. I still think it is racial.
  24. It would not be enough to make an argument for being clutch.
