  1. Have there been any pitchers who have had successful returns from that surgery?
  2. Ooops.
  3. There will be some tough competition in the league as usual. I am trying to drum up interest among more TalkSox members to replace some of the weaker inactive teams. I have tried directly calling out people that spend a lot of time posting here -- some of the proud sabremetricians, but they have shrunk from the challenge. Maybe you can try your charms to get some new TalkSox blood into the league. I think JBay had expressed interest last season.
  4. I was referring to Tyson Ross.
  5. When is Ross expected back from surgery?
  6. I always have a hard time with Israel's teams. Didn't I beat you like a drum during the season?
  7. You faced the hot team that cleaned your clock.
  8. And running the bases.
  9. Blah, blah, blah. The challenge has been issued, and you turned away.
  10. And you had the best team all season long.
  11. Moon, will you accept the challenge?
  12. [h=2]Manny Ramirez Signs In Japan[/h]By Connor Byrne | January 8, 2017 at 10:38pm CDT Manny Ramirez is returning to the field at the age of 44. The Kochi Fighting Dogs of the independent Shikoku Island League Plus in Japan have announced an agreement with Ramirez, whose last major league at-bat came in 2011. Ramirez’s latest action came in 2014, when he played in the Dominican Winter League and with Triple-A Iowa. The mercurial Ramirez debuted in the majors in 1993 and ultimately became one of the most terrifying offensive forces in the history of the sport. In a combined 9,774 plate appearances with the Guardians, Red Sox, Dodgers, White Sox and Rays, the outfielder slashed .312/.411/.585 with 555 home runs – which ranks 15th all-time. He also earned 12 All-Star nods and helped the Red Sox to two World Series championships, including their 2004 triumph that broke an 86-year drought. Ramirez dominated during that run en route to World Series MVP honors, and he generally thrived in the postseason with a .285/.394/.544 line in 493 career PAs. Ramirez is currently on the Hall of Fame ballot for the first time, but it’s possible his controversial past will prevent him from ever gaining enshrinement. Major League Baseball hit Ramirez with two suspensions for performance-enhancing drugs during his career, the second of which – a 100-game ban – came in 2011. Ramirez hasn’t played in the majors since amassing 17 PAs that year with the Rays, though he did make comeback attempts with the Athletics and Rangers before joining the Cubs as a player-coach with Iowa in 2014. That led to the Cubs hiring him as a batting consultant a year later in 2015. Ramirez will now head to Asia for the second time, having previously played in Taiwan as a member of the Chinese Professional Baseball League in 2013. His new league includes just four teams and has no connection to Nippon Professional Baseball.
  13. A lot of it is luck, but you are being humble. You had a kick ass team the last 2 years. Fantasy baseball is definitely fun and it doesn't take a lot of time out of the day.
  14. Adam, she thinks she could dethrone you.
  15. Blah, blah, blah. The challenge has been issued, and you turned away.
  16. You have been called out. Everyone in the league works and is busy. No excuses. Moon, you are being called out too. You spend a lot of time posting and researching, so I expect you to take up the challenge.
  17. My Dad was an Amateur wrestler, and taught me many moves and holds. I tried it a few times in high school. It is the most physically grueling sport of all.
  18. I have won quite a few championships throughout the years in several leagues, and it has never been a lot of work and it has always been fun. I have only been retired for one year, so I have been doing this while working full time and no summers off. You just don't want to take on the King of TalkSox for fear of humiliation.
  19. Stressful? You teach math, but Fantasy Baseball causes you stress?
  20. Starting with the excuses early.
  21. Will you be joining?
  22. ^ I see what you did there. You confirmed that one of Farrell's neurons was down for maintenance when he used Wright as pinch runner. Yet, you have plausible deniability. LOL!!
  23. In the words of former All Star pitcher, 200 Game winner, and World Series hero Mickey Lolich: "I am not an athlete. I am a pitcher."
  24. I love golf when I am out there playing, but the 2 drawbacks that have prevented me from playing regularly are the it takes a lot of time and you need to play and practice a lot just to stink.
