  1. He threw too many pitches, but he could have salvaged 5 IP with a lead if it hadn't been for Schwarber treating baseballs like they were hand grenades.
  2. I didn't know this about Kirby Puckett.
  3. And part with Kelly's great sense of humor and clubhouse presence?
  4. Stunningly bad late inning management.
  5. You can't let one of these sacks of s*** stay in for 3 walks and a double late in the game. Cora deserves the blame. He has all the data. He knows that these guys can blow up. You have to get these guys off the mound before they detonate and blow up the game.
  6. I had predicted 96 wins, but after seeing that Cora cannot lock down an easy game I am revising down to 90. This clown easily will cost us a half dozen games.
  7. The jury is still out on this, but we did see some encouraging signs from Bogey in Spring training. S5Dewey and I were at a game where Bogey hit a bomb over the batter's eye in CF and then later in the game on a tough breaking pitch, he stayed with the pitch and was able to pull the ball to the left side for a single. Normally, he would wave helplessly at that pitch. He showed an ability to stay on that pitch at the end of Spring Training. If he can manage not to get eaten alive by the breaking pitch, he could raise the level of his game.
  8. Is it too soon to call him Alex Coma? i don't think so. Being such a big data guy and having all that data at his disposal, I guess that none of it could help Coma from giving away a game in the late innings. Goodness, how did he leave in Kelly the game to give up 3 walks and a double. It was a 4 run lead on opening day with a fresh bullpen. Just unacceptable. There is no justification or rationalization for sticking with him that long. This loss is on Cora. H had better learn how to manage the late innings.
  9. Schwarber wrecked his strt with his glove. He tried to knock down the wall on a catchable ball that he couldn't put a glove on. Then later, in the same inning i think, he ran by a letting it go to the wall for 3 bases. just awful. he has no business in the OF.
  10. I do TalkSox, a CBS head to head Fantasy team, a Rotisserie league with and auction draft, A Home run pool, and daily Fanduel. No stress at all, just fun.
  11. Not a bad job. He seems to be going more with change-ups than the 4 seamer which yielded many HRs last season.
  12. It is sort of like saying that the food was awful, but the portions were large.
  13. Porcello continues with too many hits, base runners and runs. He is facing a real lineup tonight.
  14. Businesses are greedy, especially publicly owned companies that have a fiduciary duty to their shareholder to produce value. Corruption is not an appropriate word for business. Corruption relates to the use of an official position for personal gain and that is reserved for politicians and government officials. LOL
  15. His velocity is not there yet. Announcers said that some of his pitches were hitting 90-91, but mainly high 80’s. He just allows too many baserunners and gives up too many hits. He is a pitcher who pitches to a 1.4 WHIP which translates into a lot of runs. His outing wasn’t that solid. He was facing their B lineup— no Mauer, Dozier or Sano. He should have buzzsawed through them, but didn’t. So far this spring he has faced mainly B lineups and he has not dominated these bench and minor league hitters. He has struggled.
  16. Porcello is stinking up the place again.
  17. Our lineup beats him like a drum.
  18. Price was sharp today over 4 innings. Elias looked like garbage.
  19. If Swihart continues to look good at bat, I would trade him. I don't see him developing into a good defensive catcher.
  20. And kick Pedroia to the curb too.
  21. And he didn't collapse.
  22. Or maybe Theo made the recommendation. We don't know. Human nature is such that if Theo made the recommendation that he took the better people.
  23. But he made sure to take other better people with him to help him in Chicago.
  24. True, but what Pedroia did last year didn't pit the players against the manager. He pitted himself against the entire team and the manager, and he himself had to smooth over the issue. What he did in 2012, caused a divide between the players and the manager that required third party intervention and leadership.
  25. I agree. I think he has the tools to be a good 3B, but he will be working through his growing pains this year and we need to have a late inning plan to limit damage.
