  1. It's the new breed of managerial stupidity.
  2. And he can shoot the 3.
  3. Especially dumb in light of the fact that he found his power stroke yesterday.
  4. The Red Sox also groomed Butch Hobson to be a manager.
  5. You can never have enough pitching.
  6. Why do I get the feeling that you will continue to argue about game 1 until game 162, unless everyone agrees with you. Argue away. Cora made a mistake in game 1. It wasn't Kelly's day. He just didn't have it. His mother probably could have told Cora to get him out of there after the second walk. Managers make plenty of mistakes. You tend to think that any criticism of a managerial move is a complete condemnation of the manager as evidenced by the last sentence of your post about Cora being "a solid pick." No one has said otherwise, but he screwed the pooch in game 1, which is in the rear view mirror after a 4-1 start. There is plenty of inexplicable managerial stupidity in dugouts throughout the major leagues. Cora doesn't have the market cornered on that aspect. Hey, maybe he left Kelly in, because he didn't have anyone warming in his bullpen.
  7. I didn't see Quintana's game, but I did watch Schwarber help take an axe to Lester's game, but you are right that it is impressive against any major league team. Pitching was the strength of this team last season, and it will be the strength this season too.
  8. I am tempering my enthusiasm because the Rays and Marlins have terrible lineups. If they do anything close to this against the Yankees, I will be pretty excited.
  9. Spring Training is a blast, and it was a pleasure taking in a couple of games with you again this year. Did your Cubs fan friend go to the 2 Cubs games? Count me in for the Sea Dogs game!
  10. We need Pedroia's glove back in the field.
  11. That would go for more than just you. LOL!!
  12. Have you ventured back north yet?
  13. I don't think he is "truly unhappy" not enough to pass up this huge contract. He only needs to be in Boston half the time for 6 months. As for you being crazy... you do get stressed by fantasy baseball.
  14. I am not a fan of the 1 inning per pitcher from the 6th or 7th inning onward. If someone is pitching well and throwing strikes, I see no reason to take him out after 3 outs and go to another guy who may be having an off day. That approach seems to be a search for failure.
  15. It sounds like torture. Keep up the good fight!
  16. I think that he needs to react a little quicker when a guy is imploding on the mound. Some days a guy just doesn't have it. The manager gets paid to judge that.
  17. I don't think so. Cora had a spent bullpen. He had to let kelly get back on the horse. He got the first 2 guys out. There was no reason to take him out. He was throwing strikes yesterday-- something he didn't do on Opening Day.
  18. There is so much data in the dugouts that managers can;t find the time to call the bullpen to warm up relievers.
  19. We are 3-1. All is good... just poking your funny bone.
  20. But you don't give a rat's ass... right?
  21. LOL!! Okay. If you don't give a rat's ass then you shouldn't get offended at the perceptions others have of you. There is a bit of a disconnect there...no?
  22. Moon, I am not trying to pick a fight with you especially in the midst of 3-1 road start. LOL!! If Spud was wrong about you, it was not out of malice. He doesn't have a malicious bone in his body. It was just his perception.
  23. Comedy on the internet is hard. Knowing your motivation, it was a pretty funny remark.
  24. He definitely looks thicker.
  25. He is one of those guys who has an arm and stuff that indicates that he should be very successful, but he is frustratingly inconsistent.
