To each his/her own. I enjoy getting superstars like Price, Sale and JD and watching them play for the Sox. Not since the other DD picked up Pedro and Manny have we had big guns like this latest group come to Fenway. It pushes a team to a whole different level. I enjoy the value guys, but the big boys make it fun for me.

He went ballistic over Nunez bunting. That overreaction should have clued the league in that he is completely incapable of fielding his position. Alas, baseball players and coaches aren't very smart, but sooner or later they will catch on.

Will opposing batters start getting wise and start bunting on CC? He didn't have a single putout at first-base last year. He is completely incapable of fielding his position. It is time for the hitters to retire him.

Red Sox To Re-Sign Eovaldi December 6th, 2018 at 8:53am CST • By Jeff Todd The Red Sox have struck a deal to bring back righty Nathan Eovaldi, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter). Terms of the agreement, which is pending a physical, have yet to be reported. This was a match that MLBTR predicted in its listing of the top fifty MLB free agents. Frankly, that was one of the easier situations to predict, given Eovaldi’s stirring run for the World Series champs. Both the upside and the uncertainty that come with Eovaldi’s flamethrowing right arm are well-known. Having witnessed him up close for several months, concluding with a trial by fire on the game’s biggest stage, the Boston organization was well-placed to decide whether Eovaldi is worth the risk. That’s not to say there weren’t other pursuers. Ultimately, the Astros, Phillies, Yankees, Brewers, Braves, Angels, White Sox, Blue Jays, Giants and Padres all reportedly had some level of involvement. That wide variety of suitors no doubt drove the bidding to heights that would have been all but unimaginable at the start of the 2018 season. Once Patrick Corbin went off the board, the sprint for Eovaldi was on. Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, however, clearly had decided that Eovaldi was a top priority. With deep pockets and the allure of a repeat title run aiding his cause, Dombrowski was able to get his target.

The Mets do have a new GM. The 2 owners are a couple dishonest slimeballs, but the jury is out on the new GM. The Mets are not in as bad shape as people think. They have a rotation of deGrom, Syndegaard, Wheeler and Matz. No team in the NL East comes close to that rotation. Adding Cano gives them a quality bat. They will need to add another quality bat to make up for the absence of Cespedes to compete for a playoff spot.

It is chump change for the Yankee players. If they had distributed another 15 shares, it would have cost the millionaires only $12k each.

This is the first major move of the winter, bringing a top-shelf starter to a New York club that has long been rumored to be seeking to boost its rotation. Having already inked CC Sabathia earlier in the winter, the Yanks now appear unlikely to pursue more than one additional starter, though they’ll still have ample financial flexibility to go after any available pitchers.
