  1. Scutaro is hitting .272 with a .327 OBP and .719 OPS. Aviles is hitting .263 with a .282 OBP and .698 OPS
  2. Moss hit another yesterday with 2 RBI. He now has 6 HRs and 11 RBI.
  3. That's not true. You can root like hell for your team, but still realize that they are not very good. I would think that happens a lot in places like KC, Cleveland, San Diego etc. Their fans can't possibly think they have a chance at winning anything. That doesn't make them fair weather fans.
  4. Speaking of statues, when are the Red Sox going to put up a statue of Yaz? He did revive the franchise and set it on a competitive and profitable course starting 45 years ago. He's played more games in a Red Sox uniform, had the most hits, RBI, Runs etc, etc. We will never see a star in a Red Sox uni for 23 years, never again. He is Mr. Red Sox. There really isn't a close second. Yes, Williams was an iconic hitter and an American Hero and he deserves his statue, and he has two of them. Yaz deserves his. He should get it while he is still alive. I realize that this is off thread, but the statue remark set off one of my pet peeves.
  5. Were all pissed off. They spent $174 million on a team that is mediocre to bad, boring mixed in with a few whiners and arrogant jackasses. This is a bunch that is hard to tolerate when they are losing.
  6. Brandon Moss is back in the big leagues. He's also with Oakland. He has 5 HRs and 9 RBI in 26 ABs.
  7. The princess and the pea is obsessing about his health again. He'll no doubt shut himself down for about a month even if the Docs give him a clean bill of health. f*** him. We should have traded him before the season started. I had disagreed with that sentiment at the time, but I think they were right.
  8. I made the same mistake. Until this season, the ticket prices for Red Sox tickets on the secondary market, i.e., StubHub had been higher than face value. This season the bottom has fallen out of the secondary market. It's happening to the Yankee tickets too. It has to be the economy. The Yanks are in first place and the secondary market for their tickets sucks just as much as it does for a last place team.
  9. This is true. The conclusion is that the Sox are not a good team, and they will not be one anytime soon.
  10. Yep, but i am not sure that I agree that we are fortunate to be 2 games under .500 at a time of year when we should be 10 games over .500.
  11. Good teams can beat good pitchers, and Dempster is not that good. 7 of those 22 innings are against the Red Sox. 15 scoreless innings doesn't indicate dominance, especially since it was accumulated against two below average major league offenses (Mil and Min). In his start before that, he gave up 6 runs in 4 inn to another pathetic offense- San Diego
  12. I'm doing fine, but I miss having some baseball enjoyment. You are right that this has been worse than I had feared. Last place on June 15th is last place. There's no rationalizing it anymore. We are not 2 or 3 games out of first place. We are 8 games out. We will not make up that deficit with the Yankees in a couple of weeks.
  13. Even injured and slumping, the Red Sox should be beating the tar out of garbage like the Cubs. I can't see them going on a sustained successful run anytime soon. 8 games in the loss column in the loss column on June 15th is not trivial. It's 8 games and going in the wrong direction.
  14. It didn't get crushed today.
  15. Don't sleep through the game. It's a day game--2:20 EDT
  16. He's a rookie isn't he? I don't think they would be looking to move a high performing low cost asset like him.
  17. I would trade with the Yankees if they were out of playoff contention. I would never trade them a player to help them down the stretch run... ever. There are 28 other teams for a trade,
  18. f*** no.I would never help the Yankees-- ever.
  19. What's not interesting is not winning. I don't know if bringing those guys up gives us a better chance of winning. Lavarnway would have to it on the bench, because you can't wreck Salty's trade value at this point. Playing Iggy would allow them to put Aviles in the OF-- an improvement over McDonald. Kalish would be an improvement in RF--Sweeney could be the 4th OFer, and Pods should stick in CF as he is the best of the bunch. I could see that lineup being an improvement.
