  1. I have a feeling Patterson would do great in the AL, especially playing 86 in Fenway, idk why i just have a feeling. What would the Cubs need for him though? I wouldn't give any solid spects, maybe Wells. Plus, if Patterson does terrible we got 3 other OFs in the farm comin up.
  2. Realisticly, can any of those 3 be easyily let go? Shealy, Howard, or Tracy? What would we have to give up? Arroyo, and Alvarez doesn't seem to be enough IMO.
  3. I'd love to get a Freel type guy, young, no-nonsense, hustle type CF to lead our teama long w/ Tek and Schill. Maybe if we go after Huff we try and pry an OF from, maybe Gathright as a short term option. Another OF heavy team is CLE, they have a good young core and I absolutely love Sizemore.
  4. hansen don't have the endurance, otherwise he'd be a lights out starter, and would be absolutely nasty. Chances are if we love that deal so much that the A's will reject it, though I'd love to get Zito here, he's already said he wants to be in Boston.
  5. Didn't he say he was retiring at the end of this contract anyway?
  6. Papelbon has reminded everyone of Clemens in his 1st half season, if he keeps it goin' he could be our ace starting 2007. Lester and Sanchez I say give both around 2008 to get a spot in the rotation, 2009 for full potential. I swear to god, if Theo trades one of them...
  7. If we can trade him, and basicaly find a way to get Beltran for him, Torii in CF, and Giles in RF I'd be all for it. That's 6 strong right there in the lineup I showed.
  8. I totally agree, we need bullpen help, not so much the rotation, thats a project to be solved with our farm. IMO Damon is leaving, Youk is ready, Graffanino may play half a season, and perhaps the full season, but none farther than that. All of the OF change is subject to manny being traded.
  9. It might barely be under Manny, Damon, Nixon, Millar, Muller, Wells, and possibley Arroyo's contracts put together, dont ya think? Also, I'm not talking about switching ot an NL lineup with speed, but what I meant is that we should get more versatile guys that can hit HRs and also get a few SBs. Not only would we improve our lineup, but we would make it more dynamic, therefor garunteeing at least 2 runs a night. You saw what happened when Manny wasn't hitting, we lost to TB and TOR in cruical games, granted the pitching didn't help.
  10. I would love to get Torri Hunter for CF, he's great defensively, speedy somewhat and can hit the ball well. He'd the OF immensely and would probably help young players learn some things. If we are to trade Manny, we should trade him to the 1st decent offer coming from the NL. Look what Billy Beane did, he traded Hudson to ATL and Mulder to StL, now they don't have to face them during the regular season, very smart move. If beltran gets involved and some promising prospects are thrown in, I don't see why we shouldn't do it. That would leave us with a VERY good OF that could stay intact for years to come, and hand it off to our young spects in the Minors. We could re-do our OF this year completely, and that includes getting rid of Nixon. Beltran in LF, Hunter in CF, and Giles in RF. Not only does that OF help inprove our defense sufficiently, but it also provides a much more speedy and less power orriented offense. All 3 of those guys can hit the ball out of the park, but can also make good contact and hustle out infield grounders for hits. 1) SS Renteria 2) CF Hunter 3) LF Beltran 4) DH Ortiz 5) RF Giles 6) 1B Huff 7) C Varitek 8) 3B Youkilis 9) 2B Pedroia That's my dream lineup and looks very solid as of now. That is a VERY solid 1-6 and a more stable 7-9 than the last few years.
  11. They hade it made last year with the Sox-Yankees opening day, maybe switch it so we have opening day and they have last series, though it'd suck if it came down to that series. Why do we start in Texas? At least have us play some AL E division team.
  12. Wait, does this mean we have an urivaled presence? and we've made two big signings? If so I haven't heard of them. Only way i sign him is if he comes under 4 mill, at most. Plus, I have faith Foulke we get better, now that his knees are healthy, I still love the guy, though I don;t know why he's pissed.
  13. Who says we have to sign any pitchers this off-season? Papelbon is looking more like an early Clemens each time he pitches, and if develops a consistent splitter will be lights-out. What Schillisthenatural is saying is that we shouldn't sign middle-of-the-rotation guys when we already have 4 of em, and that we should wait. In no way would signing those guys help our rotation, theyre 30+, out of their prime, and will probably want a big contract.
  14. Man, semms like the other 2 SS's are havin good yyears, especially Eckstein, he's the man, yet another spect we let slip away.
  15. If we can sign him to a low expense, short term contract by all means do it, but i'd hate to waste a big time contract on him (see Jose Contreras). It'd be great to sign him to a 1/2 yr deal for 2-4 mill at most, then maybe add on some team options at the end. He's entered his prime as it seems, in 2002 had a 1.51 ERA with 19 K's, thats in 69 games. Last two years has averaged 35 games with around a 2.00 ERA in both, had 60+ K's in both of those years. That ERA might rise to the 3.00-4.00 range if he comes here, could be a solid reliever and future set-up for Hansen. Plus, he's only 28 years old.
  16. Yeah, i twitch once or twice when I hear it
  17. Ahhh, if this feeling of him leaving feels good, I wonder how it's gunna feel when we officially reject Kevin Millar. Anyway, who is the top candidate for the job? and who are runner ups?
  18. We already have 6 pitchers. We have farm talent comin up. He's aging and past his prime, and is just another #3 starter. Honestly, theres no point to signing him, as its been said, he will be less effective now that everyone has seen him. Personally I don't think we need to sign anyone big this off-season, besides B.J. Ryan. This is the advantage of having a good farm system. We don't NEED Damon because we have 3 good OF spects + Hanley if needed coming up. We don't NEED Millwood because we have Papy, maybe Lester, and possibly Sanchez coming up. We dont NEED Mueller becuase we have Youkilis.
  19. MLB should test all the umpires in that Quezteck or w/e u call it that they use at Fenway, this way they can grade who's the best umpires and use them for the playoffs. If not use a manager and player vote. Another idea is that they all get a hand-book for what hand signals to use in diff. situations. Honestly, that umps call was bogus, he said he made the "swing and miss" signal, which doesn't change anything, and then made the out sign, announcing he is in fact out. He has no excuse, even if he made the "swing n miss" signal, what does that do? That just means he wiffed. At least he shouldn't have made the out signal, because that is false, Pierzynski was still in play and isn't out until they throw to 1st. I'm still confused why they didn't hold a mini-conference and correct it, though I don't know how they would.
  20. Last year was a big jump for him development-wise, if he keeps it going he'll add another power pitcher to our rotation, going along w/ Papy and Schill in '07.
  21. I loved Poey even if he didn't hit, he was the man. His glove work was so amazing he tops Renteria twice over.
  22. Since Damon is probably gone maybe we can go after him. I wouldn't mind having him start for a year.
  23. He kept the ball and gave it to his wife secretly to sneak it out. He knows that ball belongs in Fenway Park w/ the fans to remember that magical season. Anyway, I should re-phrase overrated to with his bat, of course he's a great defensive 1st baseman, but he didn't do much with his bat here.
  24. I definately hope they make it, great game today, great 9th inning. I'm amazed they've pulled up 3-1.
  25. I doubt this guy will come cheap, and I'll just laugh if he washes out (if he signs for the Yanks).
