  1. What do you guys think? Lowell>Overbay/Huff?
  2. Please, lets not go over what happened with Pavano when he went to you guys.
  3. Wait, did u post it for fun? or because thats one of the many failed Yankee NL pitchers? either or, good post
  4. Don't get us started on camparing the minor leaguers again... Thing is, Beckett is better than most or all of the NL pitchers you get, he is 25 and hasn't even rwached his prime, you can;t judge him on his first years, and if he can beat the Yankees, in yankee Stadium, during the World Series, when he was 23, I'd say thats a pretty good start to a career.
  5. Don't even try to deny that Beckett is not better than the NL pitchers we've seen fail in the AL. A lot of papers are comparing this to the Martinez trade and your own are saying this will beat whatever George will throw back at us.
  6. Ooooh baby, that looks good.
  7. Blisters isn't a serious thing, his shoulder is the bigger problem, and thgat's not even major.(To Soxfan #1) He has 2 years left for 2 mill and same with Lowell except for 9 mill each year
  8. If I do recall Nolan Ryan had blisters early in his career, don't remember him doin' THAT bad.
  9. I'm glad we didn't give up Lester in this deal, he seems a bit more promising than Sanchez. Only thing that worries me is our SS position, what will happen if Rent upsets again? He isn't exactly 27 anymore and Hanley provided backup for the future. I guess Pedroia could take over once Rent is gone, and Lowry or someone can take the 2B position. Schilling Beckett Wakefield Clement Papelbon That is a great rotation, and we somewhat gained some back from the 2004 team though you cannot beat the Pedro-Schill combo. If Clement can become more consistent then we're solid 1-5. Also waht does this mean for Youkilis? I would much rather start him over Lowell. Then again, do you think we start him at 1st? That would mean we don't get Huff/Overbay, which IMO weakens our lineup. Hopefully we can dump him somewhere or something, becuase he's too expensive to sit.
  10. good move for the rangers, I don't think Blalock is worth Beckett though, hes gonna be big someday.
  11. Just opened mine today, just wanted to thank that person, it's great.
  12. Either newsday got it wrong or this is what it seems
  13. Very puzzling, does nothing but give away their bargaining chip for Manny, I would have hated to trade Manny for him though.
  14. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2005/11/14/rodriguez_beats_ortiz_to_win_second_mvp_in_three_seasons/ VERY dissapointed, VERY VERY dissapointed, these reporters obviously don't know what they're doing, they screw up the NL & AL Cy Young, then this... Honestly I think they should just let the managers, who actually see the players, vote.
  15. Where do you find these things RedSoxRooter?
  16. Schilling was injured most of the year, but showed some life after he shut down the Yanks at the Stadium, should return to 2004 form. Also papelbon was great as a starter, though he only lasted around 5 innings, still he was most impressive against the Angels, if you keep them to 2 runs or less, I'd call it being a successful starter. Only real question mark I see is Clement.
  17. That's if we get Konerko. I was satisfied with Huff/Overbay but I see what you mean.
  18. I really hope the new GM isn't a bonehead and spending fanatic like Dan Duquette. Granted, he got us Manny and all them, but in the end it left us in this position. It makes me wonder what Theo would have done with the team if he had to re-build. If re-building actually becomes the only option then we don't have to start from scratch. Farm Players C- 1b- 2b- Pedroia 3b- Youkilis Ss- Ramirez Of- Murphy Of- Ellisbury Of- Moss Dh- Ortiz (at DH he can play for a long time) Sp- Papelbon Lester Sanchez Cl- Hansen Mr- Delcarmen Martinez? I may be forgetting some but since we have the luxury of money we could fill all of the holes we have or trade Ramirez for some prospects or draft them and sign them.
  19. Does Hansen have a change-up? If not he would be a dominant closer with one, thrwoing his heat, a change-up and finishing up with his sinker/curve.
  20. Cross out Wells and Arroyo on that list, I have a feeling both will be gone by the end of the off-season. Schilling Wakefield Clement Vazquez Papelbon That's a very good rotation if you ask me. Vazquez hopefully will be more consistent then Arroyo and Wells, and he'd help solidify our back end of the rotation along w/ Papy.
  21. Delcarmen, Martinez and Hansen would make a nasty bullpen combo, if they all reach their potential we could have one of the strongest pens in the league. Delcarmen and Martinez setting up, Hansen shutting the door. Only thing that worries me is they all have similar pitching styles, all throw hard, and have one great breaking ball. You'd have to be pretty creative to not show any patterns and make it easier for hitters.
  22. When Garland and Buerhle fell out my vote was gunna be for Rivera, it's really unfair how they look at wins, that really doesn't show who is the better pitcher (see Zito over Martinez).
  23. Yeah, not exactly the greatest war of words goin, i mean "haterade" says it all....
  24. We could use him, especially now, while most of our OF is in limbo.
  25. I think the Mets in 6th is WAY overrated, no way theyre better than most of the teams put behind them.
