  1. Manny/Vlad duo '03-'05 HR: 221 RBI: 691 If this trade goes through, look for Vlad's numbers to increase and Papi's numbers to go down. It sill would be a mosterous offense.
  2. That's why it's refreshing to see a TRUE Yankee fan, I hate fair-weather Yankee fans who like 'em just because of the 26 WS Rings...When I argue with them all they say is 26 rings, 26 rings. Now they seem to be interested in other sports.
  3. Great idea to have this thread, we should deff get more active with each other, forums like s.o.s.h. all know each otehr and take trips together, not sayin we should do that, but at least do a little bit more stuff like this. For Christmas I don't really wantmuch, but I would love to get the Spaceballs DVD, mostly because I've never seen it and REALLY want to. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0792844890/102-2859164-5196914?v=glance&n=130&v=glance For Fastfood I just like Burger King.
  4. Id really hate to form an even better 1-2 punch in Vlad and Manny. Especially ebcause that would make them very playoff bound and likely opponent if we make it back. If anything trade him to the NL.
  5. Finally he gets noticed, he's been pretty damn good thoughout his career.
  6. f***in Luccino, IMO he gets all the blame for this, he shouldve signed him earlier, and for whatever he wanted.
  7. No, no, seriously, we don't want him, YOU take him.
  8. Soxfan #1, see my avatar is mucho better because it makes sense (Kevin FC) However Papi does not belong on a bucket of FC, shame on you.
  9. The only problem Manny has expressed with the city of Boston is basically lack of privacy. Now, I am amused at this for a few reasons... 1) He had Boston magazine take pictures of his son's room 2) He lives in the f***ing Ritz, in the MIDDLE of Boston 3) He does his own shopping, I saw him at the Galleria once Solutions: 1) Don't let people into your house 2) Move to a suburb, preferably secluded 3) Hire someone to get your stuff, you make 20 million dollars.
  10. Good to have ya back Timlin, try and kepp those inherited runners where they are. Now lets go get BJ Ryan
  11. No doubt Arroyo could be great, he anchored us the begining of the season, when he went on the "no loss" streak. However he is WAY to inconsitent for me.
  12. Well, there is a possibility we could get a more proven pitcher for any of our top guys. Basically give away future for slightly less future from a team that obviously won't win. In my example, the Tigers, I wouldn't mind giving up Sanchez and Alvarez/Shoppach for Bonderman. Not saying it's gunna even be given thought, just an idea. I preferably would not trade away spects, we've done such a good job gettin back here and theres still room to improve. BTW, Hanley's only 21, he aint goin nowhere.
  13. He's an underachiever, hasn't proven himslef, and also gets injured A LOT. What was his ERA in the NL? 4.00+? Statistically NL pitchers going to the AL get heir ERAs raised by 1.00. I wouldn't offer a 5.00 pitcher 8-10 mill.
  14. If we're going to trade Shopp do it now while he still has value. Only reason I wouldn't use Arroyo in that is becuase it's more important for us to get Huff in TB.
  15. This guy is REALLY throwin me for a loop. He stays, he wants a trade, I didn't mean it, Manny being Manny, love, I want another trade...It just goes on and on. I don't understand why he wanst to be traded. He's won a WS. He makes 20 freakin' mill.
  16. Ramirez again asks Sox for trade Slugger threatens not to report in spring By Chris Snow, Globe Staff *|* October 29, 2005 Gene Mato, one of Manny Ramirez's representatives, communicated to Red Sox owner John W. Henry yesterday that Ramirez wants to be traded, and will not report to spring training if his wish to be dealt is not met, according to a team source. Ramirez is a 10-5 player, meaning he has 10 years of major league service, five consecutive with the same team. That seniority entitles Ramirez to block a trade to any team he doesn't wish to join. With that in mind, Mato told Henry that Ramirez might decide during the process of being shopped that he wishes to remain with the Sox. General manager Theo Epstein would neither confirm nor deny that Ramirez has requested a trade, but said late last night, ''Manny, his representatives, and the Red Sox have open lines of communication and will throughout the offseason. I think we all want whatever is in the club's best interest and Manny's best interest. [but] those conversations are private and completely confidential. For anyone to reveal the nature of those talks would be ridiculous. We have no comment." This comes only three months after Ramirez asked to be traded by the July 31 deadline, which CEO Larry Lucchino revealed July 28 in his weekly radio interview with WEEI. Lucchino that day called the slugger's request ''not anything unusual," saying it was the fourth time since Henry bought the team that Ramirez asked out. But Ramirez wasn't dealt. He remained with the team and made peace -- or publicly made a showing of making peace -- the morning of July 31, when he popped into manager Terry Francona's office and told the assembled media, ''I want to stay here for 2005 and win another World Series." He said nothing about remaining with the club beyond 2005. He is, of course, signed for three more seasons, at a total of $57 million, the balance on his eight-year, $160 million contract. Ramirez, along with one of his representatives, was scheduled to meet with Henry on Wednesday and discuss some of the issues in Ramirez's head. Henry, as of last week, wasn't expecting Ramirez to ask to be traded. A week ago yesterday, in an e-mail, Henry said he meets with Ramirez ''every six months or so, certainly every winter," and that he wasn't anticipating that this meeting would give rise to anything unusual. That meeting, though, hasn't happened, because of the aftereffects of Hurricane Wilma in South Florida, where both Henry and Ramirez live. Ramirez, 33, struggled for much of the first half of the 2005 season but still tied a career high with 45 home runs. He knocked in 144 runs, his highest total since 1999, his last year with Cleveland. Ramirez did much of his offensive damage beginning July 31, when it was decided that he would not be dealt. Beginning that day, over the closing 56 games, he hit .327 with 17 home runs and 52 RBIs. He also significantly elevated his all-around game over the closing weeks of the season, paying noticeably sharper attention to base running and fielding. Epstein said toward the end of the season that Ramirez had won his teammates' respect with his hustle. ''I think he really understood the impact that he has on our ball club," Francona said on the season's last day. ''How much we needed him." David Ortiz, meanwhile, benefited greatly hitting ahead of Ramirez. Ramirez and Ortiz combined to hit 21 homers in the team's final 22 games, finishing the season with 92 homers and 292 RBIs, a season after hitting a combined 84 homers and delivering 269 RBIs. ''I'll tell you what," Ortiz said before Game 4 of the World Series Wednesday, ''If you're going to let a guy like Manny go, you better bring someone in like this." He motioned to the man standing next to him, Atlanta's Andruw Jones, who led the majors with 51 home runs.
  17. Please, we've had this discussion on other sprots too. One comparison? Nomar and Jeter. At one point Garciaparra had better stats, but who won all the rings? Jeter, same w/ Brady and Peyton. Manning can have all the TD passes when he wants, until he wins when it matters then he can't be considered the best QB or even MVP. Comparison? ARod and Papi. That proves even more how much ESPN and writers are on his balls. Peyton and ARod may have a slight edge in some categories, but Papi and Brady have "clutch" as their middle names. Surround Brady with the WR and RB that Payton's had, he'd have the same stats. Now Branch and Givens have come up as our big guns, and what's this? Brady leads the NFL in yards, at least a few weeks ago he did. All that matters is winning when it counts. Peyton may be tremendously talented, but he can be stopped as Belicheck has shown over the years. If we stop him, it will be somewhat ridiculous don't you think? No Law, no harrison, just Wilson and a depleted secondary. Brady however has outgunned Kurt Warner in his prime, Peyton, McNair, and the Panther's defense all in one year, and the next Peyton, the "unbeatable" Steeleers and then McNabb. Even if Peyton wins one championship, he has to prove to me he can play clutch 24-7 to be the best in my book.
  18. Gotta love Big Papi, best bargain in baseball, one of the friendliest guys ever. Hopefuly he'll get that other award.
  19. Even IF Cashman is better than Theo, Theo is THE youngest GM in MLB. He only has 2 ful years of GM experience, unlike Cashman, and he's already caught up to, if not surpassed Cashman, give him more experience he'll blow Cashy away.
  20. I don't so much hate the Colts as much I do of every f***in ESPN analyst jackin off to Peyton every night. They ALWAYS pick the Colts over EVERYONE. We beat the Titans, we have homefield advantage, "Colts will run over the Pats", we beat 'em. Next year "Peyton won't be fooled again, he'll finally beat Belicheck" we hold him to three points. Now they go a f***ing 7-0, way under the Pats record for consectutive wins in a row, and against a handful of average teams. Also Peyton is just a f***in pussy. he doesn't run, hates to get hit, and whines everytime he throws an INT, so he blames it on future HOF receiver Marvin Harrison.
  21. Don't trade Hanley just yet, he's only 21, unless youv'e all forgotten, if he stays interested then he should develop just fine, i say start him at AAA, and see how he does, if he does good then rent may be seeing his job slowly start to slip away.
  22. It will be interesting to see what Theo (if he's ever f***in signed) will do this season with so many promising spects coming up in a matter of a few years. I will be suprised if he signs anyone to a long term deal, unless it's at 1st base, and the bullpen.
  23. Zito would be a great pick up for us, he's solid now, and could serve as the veteran when Schill retires, therefor tutoring our suture star pitchers.
