Wow Marte for Sizemore would be amazing but the Guardians won't give him up considering he is the best overall player on that team right now. I am one who wants to keep Marte because I think he could be special. He also provides a power RH bat for a corner infielder which almost as hard to find as an ace pitcher. However saying that the Sox do need a CF and Crisp could be a very good replacement and could be under there control for the next 4 yrs pretty cheaply. But I think Marte is to high of a price for him. I think Marte will not only have value for the Sox for the next few years but he could be a very valuble piece to trade at the trading deadline that could possibly net us a Zito or schidmt or someone else who can help us make a run.

The Boston Globe is reporting that the Sox and Guardians are talking about a Marte for Crisp trade. Its being reported tonight that the Sox are talking to atlanta and tampa about the three way deal where edgar would go to the Braves, prospect Andy Marte to the d-rays and julio lugo to the Sox. Ok first off why don't the sox trade edgar for Marte straight up? He is one of the best third base prospects in the game? I also think there are other players involved that we aren't hearing about possibly tampas closer baez who could go to the braves to be there closer? Or Huff going to the Sox? Or some other combination I would like this deal more if the Sox were able to get just Marte or some other tampa players besides Lugo I also wonder if the cubs would get involved to try to get edgar? It was also reported that the Sox were trying to trade for Orlando from the angels. This could possibly be part of a Manny trade? Where manny goes to the Angels for OC, erstad and a prospect or 2?

I think that part of the problems the Red Sox had last year was that there offense relied to heavy on manny and ortiz. This may seem crazy but last year it seemed like we only scored runs when manny or ortiz were driving them in. The year before it seemed like the lineup was deeper and like everyone drove in 80+ runs. So I like the idea of trading manny and getting 2 or 3 extra bats to go in this lineup. This way we wont rely so heavily on manny and ortiz. In a way this would make the line up more formidable because a pitcher will have to deal with the entire line up and not just manny and ortiz.

It's in a bunch of papers Manny to the Angels then prospects to Arizona and then Troy Glaus and prospects back to the Sox This deal intrigues me depending on the Prospects the sox get back if they can get a2 or 3 out of this group conor jackson, carlos quintin, brandon wood, Howie Kendricks, Kendry Morales, and Santana. Then the deal might be worth it, you can either keep these guys and develop them or flip acouple of them to another team for bat. Lets say to the devil rays for carl crawford or Rocco baldelli, or to the reds for sean casey or adam dunn, or a number of other deals.

I think that isn't enough for Zito lol The A's are in the perfect position they can demand what prospects they want from the red sox because if they don't get them they can walk away and there will a dozen other teams will to give up anything to get him. So if the sox have a shot at him it would most likely have to involve lester or papelbon so i dont see it happening. Trading zito isn't a salary dump for the A's its just trying to take advantage of the lack of good free agent pitchers out there and trying to get some players for him before he leaves in free agentcy.

He is better and younger than bronson, clement, wakefield, papelbon, wells and schilling. He is also cheaper than most of them and is cheaper, better and less injury prone than burnett. Also if he becomes a dominant pitcher could anchor our staff for years to come. If we got beckett in this trade we could then still try and sign burnett and trade bronson or clement for a first baseman. I would love to have a rotation of schilling Beckett Burnett wakefield papelbon with bronson coming out of the pen or spot start in case of injury:thumbsup:

Basically imo if the Sox can get Beckett they should even if they have to give up hanley and sanchez because Beckett is a good player and no one knows about what will happen with the prospects in the future. I would even consider giving up Lester even tho i would love to keep him. I also think that Brining Lowell in here is a good move because if he finds his swing again he would be a great offensive piece gving protection behind Manny. I feel that he was hurt last year and maybe with more protection in the line up he could be productive and if hes not we can stick youk in there.
