  1. First off there are a few reasons why: Though I don't mind Renteria and he was one of my favorite shortstops in the MLs pre-Sox but he doesn't seem to fit well in Boston. Not sayin he has trouble with the media but the fanbase was way too harsh on him at first. I'm talkin purely about fit and OC fit a lot better. Hell, he had handshakes with half the team, and also he only had a bad offensive season due to injury at the begining of the season. MC Hammer got on me for this already so there's no need to go further with it. Also Edes clarified on the Rent to the Braves for Marte and then shipping him to TB:
  2. Thye gave up a heck of a lot though, Jackson is the ebst in that deal, future-wise.
  3. he does it all with no batting gloves, man he's one of my favorite catchers. yeah, someone called WEEI about Nixon and how he was close to this 15 year old who recently dies of cancer, and then he went to the funeral without being pushed into it. I'm gunna miss him too, man if only he didn't get injured he'd probably be staying here.
  4. We shoulda re-signed OC, even if he did have a bad offensive year, he's just a loveable guy. Yeah, soemthins up with the Rays GM, there's no way Lugo is worth more than Marte, they should've pulled the trigger when they got the offer. I say give Rent anotehr chance, and if he has near the same seaosn he had last year, then trade him, I mean it's only his first year in the AL so you can't blame him entirely just yet.
  5. Jesus christ, of all the bad things Dan Duquette did, this tops all of it, he HAD to ruin the relationship between the Sox and Roger. Idk why but his wife once said of us fans "They treated him like Hitler". More on the subject, if we only have 10 mill left then we would need to get rid of Manny to get him back here, otherwise we'll get outbid by the Yankees.
  6. This trade is a pretty good deal to me, almost a jip in our favor, though Mirrabelli is the best backup catcher in the Majors. I wish him well, he was one of those Nixon dirt dog type players that I love. One thing that should help him is that he'll be facing significantly weaker pitching in the NL West compared to the AL East, but good luck Belli, we'll miss ya.
  7. Well Boras said that negotiations went "good" and comin from him that means a lot, so hopefully they'll rap it up quick. It's said to be 4 years with a salary north of 40 mill
  8. I don't like this, it's too soon to give up on Edgar, it's his first season out of the NL, asfter being a Cardinal for awhile, if he suffers through the season then trade him, but for heaven sakes if it's the defense thats botherin them Lugo didn't do that much better (24 errors). Then again, getting Marte might not be such a bad idea, just not yet.
  9. exactly what I'm thinkin, the Bucs are in no position to win next year, so why trade your young guns for old power hitters who only take up a roster spot.
  10. He was a great player with a great career, luckily we had him for one season. Good luck with wjatever goes on with ya Olerud.
  11. Thats pretty friggin sweet, WS contenders for sho. Btw, is Milledge ready for the Majors?
  12. Lot of rumors comin out of Dallas boys...
  13. I'd give up a lot for Perez, some combo of Nixon, Youkilis, Shoppach, Alvarez, and Arroyo maybe?
  14. America is pretty stacked pitching wise Clemens, Zito, Stret, Lidge, Pettite, etc.
  15. That might explain why we got Mota out of the whole deal. It's still good because he's still 25.
  16. Jesus I would be terrified Halladay, Zito, Lilly, Burnett, is a really good big 4. All potential Cy Young winners, and very very very scary combined with their offense.
  17. thats true, he could turn out and have an OCab season offensively, Mientkiewicz didn't turn out that good either. I'd point out something bad in Roberst but he's just the man.
  18. They said that Damon, his f***in hot wife, and Boras met with teh Sox eprsonally, though Luccino denies all reports.
  19. I'm guessing he's is not good defensively either
  20. They're gettin Manny a shrink to try and get him to stay
  21. Is it me or is Minaya going on somewhat of a Duquette tear?
  22. I don't like this move in terms of the Mets, Lo Duca I think is older and less talented then Molina or Hernandez, whom they offered deals to. Idk why they settled with Lo Duca.
  23. Their lineup is solid 1-9, but theyre pitching to me is still in question, yes they have Sabathia and now Byrd but the others have yet to prove to me they can win when it counts, as shown when they chocked up the AL Wild Card.
  24. Well, if you read the Philly paper quotes in the otehr trhead, you would know tehre's a possibility that the trade can happen. Also we can still do the Wells for Loretta/Otsuka trade, which would give us maybe the best lineup in the Majors if we re-sign Damon. Also Manny wouldn't veto it because he already confirmed he would accept any deal out of Boston. IMO Abreu and Burrell is much better than Soriano, this way we have a solidifed OF that doesn't include Nixon, who gets injured every other week and we have 2 more power threats. 1) Damon 2) Renteria 3) Ortiz 4) Abreu 5) Burrell 6) Lowell 7) Varitek 8) Loretta 9) Youkilis Also I agree, if we made the Wells trade we would have our bullpen set up for next year and almost have a log jam there. Foulke, Mota, Timlin, Otsuka, Hansen, Delcarmen is all around solid and almost leaves no space for a long reliever.
